Phili---IIRC the "payroll clerk from RM's job" stated that the scrap was Rob's to take. This of course is from <modsnip> and IMO suspect.
From what I have been told from members of other Unions its not the "done" thing for a foreman to take the scrap---it usually goes to the apprentices who make the least amount of money. Its a courtesy extended them like treating them to morning cawfee. If the guys on the job agreed to pool all the money from scrap for Lotto tix, BBQs etc then fine. Maybe RM kept a little back for himself. Who knows?
Could this policy have changed over time? Copper wire has been very hot for a while now and there has been major thefts of it nationally. If I owned that theater, I would want a piece of the action. I know when I have a large tree taken down, sometimes I keep the wood for my wood stove. It is mine, but I do have the option of the tree cutting service removing it, selling it, and pocketing the proceeds.
JMO and some thoughts.
