UPDATED: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2015 AT 11:14 PM

State police and corrections officers, searching for two escaped killers, are currently engaged in an intense search in the woods near the hamlet of Mountain View.
According to a state police source, a corrections officer, around 9 p.m., witnessed a single male running in the woods near the intersection of Mountain View Avenue and County Road 27.
Police have closed off the roads into the hamlet of Mountain View and have surrounded the area. Helicopters are circling overhead, using night-vision technology, while police have formed a perimeter and are searching the woods.

The intersection of 27 and Mountainview Ave is less than a mile from Wolf Pond Road, where they were last known to be. Also next to the lake. No rain last night or today. Bloodhounds should be able to track that guy down!

On CNN right now Chris Cuomo is interviewing someone (Dumas is his surname) who knows Gene Palmer and was a security guard at Clinton with him and Tillie both, asking him about Tillie, asking if she had any reputation and he says "uhhh not very much, everyone knew Lyle, her husband" .. he's kinda not wanting to talk about Tillie. Hm. He says all the shops are concrete block walls all around, and an officer who sits up on a podium can observe all the inmates at the same time and the civilian staff sits next to him or is out walking around the inmates supervising them working on the clothes. Inmates are escorted by this guard into and out of the shop together in a bunch. This guy says he doesn't believe whatsoever that Sweat was left behind with Tillie after the guard took the other inmates out, you could have a hostage situation etc, he doesn't believe that ever happened.

Cuomo is asking why wouldn't you put the meat thru a metal detector? Dumas replies that's something Palmer has to answer for, Palmer's been there going on 28 years now and he knows that lady, so if a coworker comes to you and asks you to do something, maybe she said hey he left this behind, whatever the case may be, Palmer may have been like "oh okay" and walked it over, not even thinking there's tools for an escape in there, it's not something you'd expect a coworker of doing, giving you tools to smuggle to help break out a prisoner, and he feels terrible for Palmer. He says the inmates have to go thru the metal detector but guards have other routes they can take thru the prison and don't necessarily have to pass thru the metal detectors.

Re:; catwalk access for fuse box purposes - Dumas says that fortunately some of the fuse boxes have been moved to the front of the cells now but in honor block they're still out behind the cells only accessible from the catwalk area, and says the inmates are trained by the state to work on everything in the prison so it shouldn't have been a big deal but they shouldn't have had access to those tools for a long time, it should take a minute at most to go back and reset the fuse like it would be at home so Dumas says he's not really sure what the whole story is with that.

Cuomo is asking about the inmates and guards being too friendly, not just talking about sex, asking if Dumas thinks things will come out that things have to tighten up there, Dumas says he hopes it does come out that there has to be a tighter reign and says "there's a lot of US who have asked over the years for that to happen" but they use the inmates labor because they don't want to pay civilians to come in and fix something every time a fuse blows, but he says they shouldn't teach the inmates to fix the infrastructure, the fuses, the PIPES, just to save money, he says "Come on you have to pull back a little bit you have murderers, rapists and child molesters and you're worried about teaching them a trade? Come on."

end of interview.

Presumably not, I mean it took their dogs like a week, week and a half to even track them there. Which is weird because they couldn't track these guys with only a 24 hour or less lead from the cabin, eh?

Do you think they would have looked for prints on the dumpster?

OT - Did Tillie live in Dickinson? There was a fatal fire at a house in Dickinson last night.

ETA - nevermind she lives in Dickinson Center, different town.

Do you think they would have looked for prints on the dumpster?

Are you using the Socratic method on me to get me to see that my tip was silly to report?

I wouldn't be offended just wondering because your questions seem leading.

I sort of like that. You sly son of a gun. LOL

No, interested in what you think.

The dogs did pick up a scent at the cabin, but then it started raining. VERY heavy rain on Sunday, as I recall

An 800 square foot house on his salary? Something strange here. I am thinking the same about the paintings - he burned the ones that painted over blueprints and buried the others somewhere in the town of Dannemorra. I don't think we have heard 1/2 the info. he and Tillie have yet.

Yes burned evidence? Painted his cabin over blueprints maybe? Sick wife/affair with someone/blackmail or favors from "grandma" JMOO I think the puzzle pieces are coming together to show investigator's a huge picture. Dumpster diving by Palmers house smells fishy also

No, interested in what you think.

I think that this case defies logic and reason and continually surprises me, so I can't have any expectations.

That being said, I think maybe they figured there was no video surveillance indicating anyone suspicious was there, so they didn't dust it for prints.

And I rather suspect that finding Palmer's prints there would be more of a guarantee than Matt and Sweat's because IMO it's more likely he put supplies for them in the dumpster for sure, than it is that they successfully retrieved those supplies for sure. And I can't imagine them actually escaping and going straight for a store, it's not like they don't know about security cameras. It doesn't make sense to me that they went that way to dumpster dive, it only makes sense to me that they went that way because they knew someone lived right there who might be sympathetic, or who they could take hostage (which didn't happen), or because they had arrangements ahead of time to retrieve something there before taking off.

But I don't know that I think that happened at all. (Because right now I tend to believe Palmer that he was clueless.)

Just thinking out loud over coffee. I reserve the right to realize I made no sense whatsoever once I've been properly caffeinated. :coffee:

AND I Found that comment on an early article posted on June 7 by someone that said something about the Subway shop that was SO suspect that I submitted a tip about it and LE called me the next day and spoke to me about it. That's pretty interesting right there IMO.

PS - I urged them to just at least check the IP address of the poster of the comment I found. I hope it led them to GP's house. That would be all kinds of interesting.

ETA - I know people will ask. This article here has comments way down at the bottom if you scroll far enough. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/escaped-new-york-prisoners-richard-matt-david-sweat-left-taunting-note/

Find the one by "SUBTEXT9" (which either means texting from the subway, or "read the subtext of this comment" IMO). Remember these guys broke out what, June 6? This was posted June 7. The news of the dogs finding Matt & Sweat's scents at the Subway/gas station didn't come out until over a week later, making this a powerful coincidence of a comment if it's completely fabricated out of someone's imagination and posted just for the hell of it by them. I don't think that's the case though. I think the person who posted it had a good reason for posting it, and was near or inside the Subway at the time. GP's house is near the Subway. Just thinking out loud.

Never Mind, here you go:

Good grief, another coincidence?? Sweat/Matt may have been seen dumpster diving at a Subway near Palmer's house?? And this is just some "random" comment??

SO Tillie's "baked goods" that she wooed everyone at the prison with were Donuts. Why does this not surprise me and even threaten to crack CNN. url]http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/joyce-mitchell-inmate-relationship-running-joke-

article-1.2269529[/url]

GGE- you completely crack me up! We thought it was something more imaginative only to be face palmed with donuts!
Classic- why does this not surprise me or threaten to crack me up???

I am going back to my theory that the evidence in the cabin being discovered wasn't random timing.

I'm just waiting to hear that Palmer was one of those whose name was on that hunting cabin lease. I read that rumor on facebook days ago but it's been unconfirmed ever since and wasn't posted by someone who had contributed anything else useful that I could see, so I don't have any way of knowing if it's true or not. But it WAS posted on the same thread there as the comment about a sighting by someone at a cabin, and prison-issue underwear being found there, and that all ended up being 100% true.

So it's just a rumor but I just keep thinking it will be found to be true. JMO

SBM - I think that guard/officer will be the next to go down. JMO.

So when someone is arrested in a case we can sleuth them, so I'm sleuthing Mr. Palmer right now in order to get his address so I can see the proximity to the Subway and perhaps look at maps a bit. Might as well share the info here since I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this. It says 60 Reservoir Rd, Cadyville, NY (right off of 26). http://www.homes.com/property/60-reservoir-rd-cadyville-ny-12918/id-400019106507/ - it's on a 9 acre lot. So I guess the woods he burned some paintings in was probably on his own property (but don't know for sure)... not going anywhere with this just sleuthing. feel free to join me!

In one of the articles from a few days ago, (NYT, maybe), Palmer's neighbors were interviewed and they said that the day after escape Palmer told them not to go out walking at night and to keep their dogs with them.

I'll go back and look for the quote.

How far from the escape manhole? Thanks.

Well that's how far from clinton correctional anyway... what's the street location of the manhole again?

ETA - red marker is the address of Palmer's property, CCF is on the left of the screen, Subway is bottom right. Might have to pan around a bit to see it.

ETA2 - doesn't look like his house backs right up to the Subway to me but I could be confused. Nope, I'm not confused. His property is not right there, there is at least one other house between them and another road crosses through as well by the look of it. Hm well that changes the way my mind was playing out some things.

Remember Tillie's husband saying that she was told to slip him something to make him go to sleep and to bring him along when she picked Sweat/Matt up? Could the source of the "something" be from the ill wife that Palmer takes care of?

I'm also wondering if the paintings were somehow connected to drug deals within the prison? Just my musings.
