ITA. The odds that all of these events would be a series of coincidences is beyond calculation. IMO LE should be looking very closely at the "John" who hired her. From her reported behavior, I suspect she was drugged and had a paradoxical reaction, resulting in paranoid delusional and agitated behavior. Perhaps this was the modus operandi of the killer of all those found nearby. The only difference in shannen's case was that she brought a driver along which may have thrown a kink in the killer's plans. This was not happenstance that she died within feet of all those other poor victims...
 
While, I guess it's technically possible for it to have been a "drug induced psych episode" it makes a lot more sense that it wasn't. I agree with Maggie in that the odds of it being a "coincidence" or some psychotic break is FAR LESS LIKELY than it being the result of a homicide; especially considering what's going on in that area at the moment and the people involved in the occupation Shannon had at the time.

LE needs to stop wasting time being in denial and start working these cases.

I buried my 17 year old .He disappeared in Jan
1999, and was last seen begging for help as
"someone was after him". He didn't wait but kept
running for the mountains here in Oregon. He was
listed with national missing children as
endangered/missing. We learned later that a 29
year old man had injected our son all night with
meth, this man's answer as to why is because it was
better that he ( who my son knew) to shoot him up
than have a stranger do it . My son's remains were
found in an orchard here in rural Oregon this past
June,a year and a half after last seen. A few months
ago, while gong through my son's Bible, I came
across the following poem he wrote when he was
15, the age we have since learned he started using
meth.

Sad how this drug is destroying lives of women, men, and children. It does not care if you are rich, poor, old, or young. Awareness should start at a very early age. JMO

Yes. It doesn't make sense she'd seek help from a random stranger and then run away.

I just saw the ID show. The guy who called the police seemed like a kindly person someone in trouble might be looking for when knocking on a stranger's door in desperation. The guy went out looking for her. If she had just stayed nearby, he could have at least told what happened.

All this makes me think she had a psychotic episode.
 
An autopsy on a Jersey City woman whose disappearance sparked a search that uncovered a dumping ground of human remains along Ocean Parkway, detected no drugs in her system at the time of the examination, according to a report obtained by Newsday.

The remains of Shannan Gilbert, 24, were discovered three years ago Saturday in a damp thicket of bramble in Oak Beach less than a mile from where witnesses said they last saw her alive in May 2010.

Gilberts remains were found in December 2011. Nearly three years later, her family launched the account on the popular site, titled “Justice for Shannan.”

That finding was called into question Monday, when Dr. Michael Baden, former chief medical examiner of New York City, and a Fox News contributor, examined Gilbert's skeletonized remains inside a Nassau County funeral home at the request of her family.

Baden observed the hyoid bone -- a small horseshoe-shaped bone in the neck -- had a "rough edge" on one side, suggesting a fracture. He is conducting further testing on the bone and is seeking original crime scene and medical examiner photos and X-rays for analysis. A fracture to the hyoid bone is a hallmark sign of a strangulation.

"The hyoid shows some breakage," Baden told FoxNews.com. "If it is a fracture, that would be strong evidence Ms. Gilbert was strangled to death by neck compression."

The 80-year-old coroner, who served as New York City's chief medical examiner in the 1970's, reported other oddities and omissions from the original autopsy reports.

I looked for a pre-existing thread for Shannan for a solid hour. If I missed it then I'm an idiot so please forgive me.

Shannan was last seen at The Fairway, in Oak Beach NY on May 1st 2010. Escorted by a driver, she went to a party hosted by a resident of the exclusive subdivision from which she vanished. Shannan was a prostitute but we do not know for a fact that this is what she went to The Fairway for. All we know is that she went and that a man invited her. LE hasn't confirmed this. Reportedly this meeting was a "date" and she was invited to this party, by the host JB, via Craigslist. At some point, I believe around 4:51am, something appears to have gone wrong. Shannan called 911 and told the dispatcher, in a 23 minute call, that "he was trying to kill her" and she repeated "help me" several times. It's believed that it can be heard on the audio taped call, something that sounds like Shannan being grabbed and pulled into a truck. She is heard knocking on several doors until finally, a neighbor, GC, opens his door to Shannan. Here's what he has to say about that moment. I will post links for more info as I have them. JB claims that Shannan did come to his home. He said she began demanding to get paid and was, I guess belligerent? He told her to leave, which she did, on foot. It seems that her driver had dropped her off. At some point it seems that she apparently began randomly beating on doors in the moments following this reported episode, begging for help. Until GC found her at his door.

I've provided you with a layout of the location in which GC was standing when he was interviewed (above) and other things I found significant in the area. When he indicates the direction from which the SUV came, he doesn't seem to be motioning toward the highway at all but in the other direction, toward the opposite shoreline, through a patch of scrub and a retention pond of sorts AWAY from the highway or Oak Beach Road, which is the only vehicle access leaving the area.

It seems as though Shannan's family did report her missing many months ago but no one took them seriously. I suppose that's because their baby girl is a known prostitute. Sad...both that no one cared, and that she put herself at such risk.

I thought that maybe we could look for her anyway, regardless of what she did for a living. I have my doubts as to whether or not she ever made it out of the area. And it's been reported via MSM that Shannan isn't one of the four bodies found just up Ocean Parkway.

Sounds like she was high as bat turds. Seriously. I suspect this happened. She got high on a stimulant most likely smoked, coke or meth probably with the unemployed financial worker. This is after weeks of getting high so it built up in her system and she got drug psychosis. She got drug psychosis in the wrong part of the country cause the rural area was a magnet to psychos. Think Tom and Jerry. This woman screaming and acting like a maniac was a beacon for the psycho and ot was like Jerry running in Tom's mouth. She ran right in to the killer. Irony is she was afraid the shadow people was gonna kill her and caused herself to become a target for one of the many psychos dumping bodies in the area.

what caused a healthy woman who wasn't an invalid to just die of hypothermia when she wasnt obstructed from anything and 100 yards from where she was last seen during a psychotic episode? It's not likely.

Here's my take on what happened based on known evidence:

She was veey high and ran in to the muderer who lives in the area. Again it was like Jerry running in to Toms mouth since she was so loud and a dream target for the killer anyway. I suspect he raped her and fearing the police were near or someone was closing in he over powered her and drowned her. The reason he couldn't follow the M.O is due to it not being planned. That seem to throw off the incompetent police force most likely. If you take a second to use common sense a lot of these crimes can be solved but smarts isn't a strong suit in a lot of these rubberstamped detectives who just receive tenure promotions and aren't qualified and investigators. It's scary if you're a victim of related to a victim cause most likely youre gonna get inspector Clouseau or barney fife instead of sherlock holmes or joe kinda

Since there is no known evidence that SG spent weeks getting high, my common sense doesn't quite lead me in the same direction as yours.

The lifestyle indicates that's a possibility and her behavior. So to a real investigator it's not voodoo or magic it's a logical assumption based on the evidence and until it's disproven or replaced by other evidence did it's certainly reasonable to assume that's possible.
