When you think about the plot: attempted assassination of 2 former presidents, a secretary of state, former AG, and mass murder at media company, CNN;, it really is staggering. Meanwhile crowd is chanting "Lock her up" again tonight.

When you state it so succinctly, yeah, it’s beyond staggering. Well said

Thank you for sharpening the focus of what’s really happening. It’s stark.

That's only for letters. Packages ship at a different rate.

Postage Price Calculator is a quick and easy way to check rates. Per that website, a package weighing anywhere from 1 to 6 ounces is $3.75.

NO, this is for letters only. Parcels ship at different rates. See the above link I posted or scroll down the page on the link you posted. Also, that site is outdated, stamps are 50 cents right now and poised to increase again soon.

Right.

Envelopes!

If you saw the photos, they are “normal” mail envelopes taped over with clear masking tape, not the heavier, reinforced “gold bubble” package envelopes.

ETA ... Which might be why some ended up being “courier” delivered to their final destination, if they had insufficient postage.

Like I said, it’s entirely possible, because some were mailed. Not all reached their destination.

Many had Schultz’s return address — guaranteeing they’d get to at least one of their targets, even if not the primary one.

This was by design, imo.

ALSO, I also realize forever stamps are rising from 49 to 50 cents this year, as are some other postal rates.

National Guard deployed after suspicious packages sent to CNN, Clintons, Obamas, Rep. Wasserman

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced he was deploying 100 National Guardsmen to mass transit systems across the state in light of the threats and to help people feel safer as federal authorities attempt to find a motive and the person or people responsible
...
Arizona GOP Sen. Jeff Flake, who has been a target of Trump's ire, said the president should stop labeling the media as the "enemy" or verbally castigating political opponents.

"Words matter,*" Flake told CNN. "If he were to take a more civil tone, it would help. … We all need to watch the rhetoric that we use. People hear them and then follow it. ...Those of us in office need to keep that in mind. The stakes are too high right now."

*Anyone else remember the target on Giffords before she was shot? People know their hateful rhetoric can be dangerous.

Some of us may remember the hateful rhetoric in Dallas before President Kennedy was shot.

The same evil words, the same dark creeds, the same fiery hatreds. Only the speakers change.

Seventh suspicious package investigated in LA after batch sent to CNN, Clintons, Obamas

A seventh suspicious package was being investigated in Los Angeles Wednesday evening, though it's unclear if it's tied to the batch of others.

The Los Angeles Police Department posted on Twitter that the package was discovered at the Los Angeles Central Mail facility near Downtown Los Angeles. The center was evacuated.

"We are working closely with our federal law enforcement partners given the number of suspicious devices discovered across the nation," the department tweeted. " As more information is available we will provide updates."

CNN and ABC News reported the package was addressed to Rep. Waters, which would make two suspicious packages addressed to the California Democrat. The first was discovered by Capitol Police Thursday afternoon at an off-site mail facility in the Washington area.

A feverish hunt for more suspicious packages in biggest mail-based terror plot since 2001

Domestic terrorism reared its ugly head Wednesday as a series of potentially dangerous packages focused the nation’s attention on security threats.

Law enforcement officials were on a feverish hunt for more suspicious packages following the discovery of deliveries containing explosive devices that were sent to high-profile critics of President Trump. The targets: Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, George Soros, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and CNN’s Manhattan offices. The packages were identified during routine mail screening procedures and taken to the FBI lab for examination.

It appeared to be the biggest threat of a mail-based terror plot since the 2001 Anthrax attacks that killed five people in the weeks after 9/11.

So what do you all think was this person's motivation? What was their goal?

"This person" might be a generous reading of the situation.

It also nods to the probability a single arrest of a "lone nut" might be made.

The goal was to spread fear, and thus to frighten voters looking for change.

"The FBI, which is investigating alongside partners on the Joint Terrorism Task Force, said the suspicious packages it has identified as of Wednesday were sent to:

  • George Soros, a wealthy philanthropist and prominent Democratic donor.

  • Hillary Clinton, former Democratic presidential nominee and secretary of state.

  • Former president Barack Obama.

  • Former CIA director John Brennan, via CNN's New York office.

  • Former attorney general Eric Holder, who served under Obama. The package addressed to Holder didn't make it to his office, and was instead rerouted to a fake return address.
The FBI said the packages were mailed in manila envelopes with a bubble wrap interior.

"The packages were affixed with computer-printed address labels and six Forever stamps," the FBI said. "All packages had a return address of DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ in Florida."

This will frighten voters looking for change? Sorry, I don't follow. Some voters will be frightened, why?
