Exclusive: Deputies raid Rhoden evidence warehouse Fox 19 Cincinnati - 31 Jan 2017

On Monday night, we watched as deputies took boxes out of the warehouse and loaded them into an enclosed trailer outside.

That trailer was taken to the Pike County impound lot and locked inside a garage there.

Just after we got to the warehouse, two Pike County ambulances pulled up to the warehouse gate and spent several minutes talking with a deputy who was posted there awaiting the medics’ arrival.

The deputy eventually allowed the EMS units inside the gate. Once inside, the ambulances parked along the western wall of the warehouse.

Josh Rhoden, 38, is accused of selling prescription pills in Pike County. He was charged with aggravated trafficking, a third-degree felony, and spent the night in the Ross County Jail. He is a cousin to the members of the Rhoden family found slain in Pike County in the largest homicide case in Ohio history.

Information leading to Josh Rhoden's arrest was discovered during the investigation of the April 22 Pike County massacre, but the arrest is unrelated to the homicides, said Jill Del Greco, a spokeswoman for the Ohio attorney general. Officials also arrested Rhoden's neighbor, John McJunkin, 63, on a charge of drug possession.

The homes of Josh Rhoden and John McJunkin in Peebles were searched. Authorities found more than $8000 in cash, more than $7000 in prescription pills, nine guns and a small amount of marijuana. McJunkin was arrested on a felony charge of possession of drugs.

A somewhat confusing article about Pike County training related to the Rhoden case. It actually refers to training that local LE are receiving to help themselves stay safe. Misquote about the number of LE who die in Ohio every year. Actual tally of 100 refers to national statistics

The deputies have now been issued trauma kits to put in their cruisers. They are similar to those the military uses on the battlefield. The army-green colored bags contain medical gear such as tourniquets, airways, saline solution and special bandages.

Pike County Coroner David Kessler, his deputy coroner and an undisclosed coroner from another county were among the first authorities at the scenes, according to court records.

As a result, (BCI Agent) Trout said, a large number of tips processed by investigators were not based on the tipster's personal knowledge. As of Sept. 23, 770 tips had been submitted to investigators, Trout said.

Note: No other investigators are working on the case. Not FBI, DEA, US Marshalls, etc.

In the affidavit, Trout says that more than 20 BCI agents and two Pike County Sheriff's Office employees are on the case.

The Pike County Coroner cannot withhold the final autopsy reports of eight Rhoden family members killed nearly a year ago because he never discussed those reports with law enforcement officials, The Dispatch argued in a court filing on Friday.

That's important because Coroner David Kessler has said the reports are confidential law enforcement investigatory records, and that releasing them could jeopardize the investigation. But Kessler is not a law-enforcement officer and testified that he never discussed with law enforcement whether the records contained confidential information, the newspaper's lawyers argued in a filing with the Ohio Supreme Court.
