Police search for missing woman who was reportedly abducted in east Columbus

Police say 31-year-old Richard Patridge abducted 39-year-old Ashley Freestone on a motorcycle in the area of East Main Street and Alum Creek Drive.

Police say 31-year-old Richard Patridge abducted 39-year-old Ashley Freestone on a motorcycle in the area of East Main Street and Alum Creek Drive.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, police received a 911 call around 10:30 p.m. from a man saying someone was kidnapped. When police arrived, they found the caller who said he and Freestone, his girlfriend, were getting off a COTA bus when they were confronted by Patridge. Court documents say Patridge is the father of Freestone's children.

Freestone was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black shorts and black and white shoes. She is described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 165 pounds and she has brown hair and brown eyes.

Ashley Freestone, 39, was last seen in the area of East Main Street and Alum Creek Drive. According to a probable cause statement filed by detectives, Freestone and her boyfriend were getting off at a bus stop at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at East Main Street when Richard Patridge, 31, the father of Freestone's children, pulled up on a black motorcycle and pulled out a handgun.

Patridge ordered Freestone's boyfriend to back away, then pointed the gun at Freestone and told her to get on the back of the motorcycle. Patridge then fled eastbound on East Main Street.

Patridge was riding a motorcycle and has several active felony warrants, including one issued Wednesday regarding the abduction.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, Patridge was accused of felonious assault on July 21. Police said Patridge is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
