Nah. Drug dealers don't kill people who owe money. They want as many people hooked as they can and they get their payment one way or another.
No if you try to rob or steal from a drug dealer, that's another story.

I know a story from my hometown where that exact thing happened. Kid owed money, dealers killed him and buried him. When they found his body (killers finally gave location) he had over $2k on him. Apparently they were so angry about the debt they just wanted him dead. Didn't even bother checking his wallet

Chillicothe Police Reporting New Missing Woman

10TV Web Staff

07/17/2015 3:24 PM

Chillicothe Police are reporting a new missing woman case in Ross County.

Authorities have identified her as 30-year-old Loretta Lawson of Chillicothe.

She was last seen four to five days ago at 129 N. Bridge Street.

Lawson-McCrary is described as 5’6’’, 130 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing white shorts and an unknown shirt according to police.

If anyone has seen her or knows of her possible whereabouts, please contact the Chillicothe Police Department at (740) 773-1191, the Ross County Sheriff’s Office at (740) 773-1185, the Ohio State Highway Patrol at (740) 775-7770 or 911.

Earlier this month, the FBI joined in on the efforts to located the missing Chillicothe women. Trego went missing May 2014 and Lemons disappeared last December.

Trego is 28-years-old, white, 5’4” tall, 160 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Lemons is white, 5’7” tall, 135 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Chillicothe Police Officer*Bud Lytle said it's too soon to connect this missing woman case to the others. He says their primary concern right now is trying to locate her as quickly as possible. ]

Lawson-McCrary? Is she related to the suspect in Timberlys case?

"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man."

The other thing people seem to be getting killed for around here is horning in on another dealer's turf. They tend to be disposed of rather brutally.

I was looking at the cold case threads on Websleuths and I accidentally came across these unsolved murder cases from Springfield, Ohio.

It looks like the Springfield cases may have some similarities with the Chillicothe cases.

Springfield, Clark County detectives probe cold cases for connections
10 dead Clark County women not forgotten

All of the victims were known to be involved with drugs and some of them worked as prostitutes.

Some were last seen in the same area of Springfield before their deaths, the West Main Street corridor.

All of their bodies were found dumped outdoors — in parks, bodies of water or fields — although their causes of death differed. Some were strangled, some beaten, some were found so long after their deaths that an exact cause couldn’t be determined.

I forgot all about this and I live very near Springfield. I wonder if the two are connected? :(

This is interesting and it reminded me of something that happened 20 years ago. It also helped me to realize what's been nagging at me but I didn't put 2+2 together until now. My thoughts are still scattered trying to put it all together but I'll try to point out the dots and hopefully someone can connect them. (If there is a connection)

A few months after we bought a property that had been vacant for over a year, we found a satanist group in various stages of undress filming a movie in one of our caves. They took off before LE got there but we were informed that they held rituals down at Lake Jackson and the surrounding sand dunes. Locals know it as "Blackies Lake", not to be confused with Jackson Lake which is south of there. The month of October started with "cat week", then "dog week", then "goat week" followed by "human week". LE got word that there would be human sacrifices at the dunes and they staked it out with night vision glasses. It turned out that the group didn't show but LE found several, freshly dug graves waiting to be filled during the ceremony. We moved from the area 4 years later but as far as I know it still has a lot of undesirables hanging out there. So what does this have to do with the women missing/murdered from Chillicothe and Portsmouth?

The lake and dunes are in Pike County off of 335.
The road Shasta's car was found on is the short cut road to get from 35 to 23 in Pike county.
The short cut road meets 335 halfway between 35 (Richmondale) and 23 (Waverly).
23 runs from Chillicothe through Massieville (Timberly), then Waverly, then Piketon, then Portsmouth.
If these cases are connected, why have no women gone missing in Waverly or Piketon?
Could the perp be working outside of his county so he won't be suspected?

Whoever disposed of these women that were found, more than likely knows about Blackies Lake and the sand dunes. Everyone around does especially if they do any fishing.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it? Thoughts?

I don’t think you’re reading too much into it. You made some very good observations.

You’re correct that there are plenty of caves in the rural areas of southern Ohio. Another fact that folks may not be aware of is that there are plenty of old coal mine shafts in the rural areas of southern Ohio that have been abandoned for many years.

I think you are on to something regarding the fact that the perp could be from Pike County and that no women from Pike County (Waverly and Piketon) have gone missing.

You’re also correct that the back roads of Pike County are connected with the back roads in Ross County. As you have pointed out, the lake and the sand dunes in Pike County and the area where Shasta and Timberly were found in Ross County aren’t far from each other. It does makes you wonder if the abducted women were murdered around that area in Pike County.

As far as strangers and the undesirables are concerned, is there a lot of camper or recreational vehicle traffic around that area on the back roads?

First post here. Just thought I'd bring up another eerily similar case that is occurring just one state over. I don't think there is a thread here for this yet, as nobody seems to really know about it (I could be wrong about that though).

Since 2010, 12 women with ties to prostitution have disappeared from northern and eastern Indianapolis, three of which turned up dead in the Yandes St/Columbia Ave area in June of 2014. Toxicology reports found drugs present in two of these women's bodies. Now here's the part that really has my attention; as the investigation in Indy was ongoing, two female witnesses who had some kind of connection with the missing women and were cooperating with police ended up disappearing as well. One of these witnesses had reported to police that she was forced into a vehicle but managed to escape, however she is now one of the missing Indy women as well. Another interesting point is the fact that the series of events in Indy seemed to come to halt last June after the three bodies were discovered, only for the Chillicothe disappearances/deaths to start picking up steam shortly afterward. I have heard no new news on the Indy disappearances since the June bodies were found last year. Just thought this case had some interesting parallels to Chillicothe and I had to share. Thoughts?

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police are investigating if there could be a connection between a justified homicide in Charleston and a long list of missing and murdered women in Ohio.
On Saturday, a woman shot and killed a man who was attacking her in her home. Police say she set up a meeting with the man through a website called "Backpage" where she had offered services as an escort.
Although police are remaining tight lipped on what they know about the attacker, Eyewitness News has learned that investigators in Charleston and Chillicothe, Ohio have been in contact with each other. Some fear a serial killer has been involved with the deaths and disappearances of six women in that area.
"That interaction turned deadly very quickly. Fortunately for her, she wasn't the victim," explains Lt. Steve Cooper. Cooper believes the woman, who's name has not been released, would have been seriously hurt or murdered had she not made a split second decision to grab her attacker's gun and shoot him while he was strangling her.

Interesting article. I wonder if it will turn out to be related.

Mostly just during deer and turkey hunting season.

Interesting article. I wonder if it will turn out to be related.

Huh. Yeah. Could just be due diligence, I suppose, but it sounds similar.

Alright, so I know there's the latest news about a man in WV possibly having something to do with the Chillicothe ladies. I'm skeptical, but I guess we'll see how that plays out.

That being said, I was discussing this on another website (Reddit, for those who are curious) and someone that has lived in WV says that in the past few years that area, along with PA and some of OH have seen an increase in transient gas and oil workers, primarily due to fracking. They didn't have statistics or hard numbers, but it's caused things to happen that normally wouldn't. Like a huge hotel being built just for these people.

I say all this in an effort to prove that maybe we're onto something regarding this being someone that is seasonal, that goes where the work is so to speak.

Here's a website that has some maps of where the fracking is going on.

It's all very interesting.

Whoa. Those maps cover Chillicothe, Portsmouth, etc. I'm very intrigued now

You might be on to something there anthym29! There was a case of a teacher who went missing during her morning jog in eastern MT (near the border of ND where big fracking is happening). Her body was eventually found and two men from the fracking operation were arrested for her murder. Those men were from somewhere in the SW, but I can't recall which state(s). I have a young friend who works two weeks on, two weeks off at the site. Word is that there is a shortage of housing and women in the fracking town. My friend lives in western MT and drives back and forth.

The article said the man who was killed was from the Pacific NW, possibly Oregon, so you never know. But IMO this is a plausible theory. Good thinking!

I agree, that has a lot of merit to it.

Also, people in those kinds of jobs move around a lot. I wonder if there are similar patterns in other places where oil field workers have gone.

Neal Falls Investigation Expands To Las Vegas-Area Dismemberments

Neal Falls, the Oregon man shot to death by a West Virginia prostitute as he tried to strangle her on Saturday, is being investigated in connection with unsolved cases in Nevada that may include the deaths and dismemberment of several women.

I wonder how they were dismembered, especially given all the axes and machetes they found in the trunk of his car.

Also, this woman was traveling to Las Vegas while the disappearances were taking place. She was never heard from again. It looks like a lot of the photos up of her are mugshots, I wonder if she had any links to prostitution.
