CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Police confirm to WKYC that convicted sex offender Elias Acevedo is a "person of interest" in the disappearance of Christina Adkins.

They say they are talking to Acevedo at the Cuyahoga County Jail where he is being held on charged in a 1993 rape case.

The Daily Mail has my head spinning. The suspect is listed as "Edwin" Acevedo, instead of Elias Acevedo, and the caption under his picture reads

Edwin Castro Jr, 49, has been named a person of interest in the disappearance of Christina Adkins, missing since 1995.

I don't care what his name is. I'm thankful he's behind bars again, and I hope he stays there this time.

Mr Acevedo was convicted of sexual battery in 2003, he served three years in prison for that offense.

The violent man was also charged this past June with two counts of rape for a June 1993 incident where he is accused of strangling an 18-year-old girl unconscious before twice raping her in a field, records cited by the Cleveland Plain-Dealer show.

Mr Acevedo, arrested only hours before the skeleton was discovered, was previously linked to the case during an August search of his home, but cleared. Officials appear confident they can prove this time he’s their man.

The man sources named as a person of interest in the case is a relative. The family told NewsChannel5 they don’t and didn’t keep in contact with the new suspect.

Pamela Pemberton disappeared from W. 25th St area a few months before Christina Adkins disappeared. Pamela's body was found near the area where human remains were found a few days ago. The murder was never solved. Apparently police are looking into a possible link between these cases. I do not know of a thread for Pamela Pemberton, but
I just heard this on Fox 8 news in connection with the Adkins investigation. Then I found this link with a little more info:

Thank you. I knew he was being investigated for another murder but didn't know who.

This area is pretty scary. Two men now blocks apart. Operating approximately at the same time. One, Castro, a serial madman kidnapping rapist & now this guy who could be a serial rapist and murderer. The crime stats aren't favorable in this area and haven't been for years and years. And there's a cemetery right before the cloverleaf where the remains of Christina A were possibly found! Behind Castro's backyard.

I wonder how many more.

Egads. This article has Elias Acevedo arrested at the house across the street from Castro. I believe that is his parents home I read in one of the articles. Pamela's body was found so close to Christina's remains (if id'd as Christina).
