You know, I never heard of this case until I saw it on here...I have to wonder why we hear of some and not others nationally? Sad...sad sad sad...

I wonder if they could try to convict him of murder? Florida convicted Willie Crain of murder and they had no body to prove the fact...they did have blood however. I guess in this case they only have DNA. God I pray for some resolution in this case...and I hope he never sees the light of day again.

The attorney for a man accused of kidnapping and raping a 5-year-old girl wants a judge to keep prosecutors from using DNA that could connect the man to the missing girl.

Attorney David Young told Judge Beverly Pfeiffer of Franklin County Common Pleas Court on Tuesday that police should not have been allowed to take DNA evidence from Lindsey Bruce's body because they had no evidence that Bruce had sexual contact with Emily Rimel.

Detective Warren Tyler said Bruce told detectives, "That basically he wanted to talk to his attorney first and then he would help us basically find Emily Rimel and help us conclude the case."

Obviously they had evidence to tie him to her disapearance right? SO why did they need a special reason to collect DNA

The guy raped and killed a 5 year old child! Even if there's a chance that he did it - don't let me at him - or DNA is all that wil be left of him!!

In a major win for prosecutors, a judge has ruled that a jury may hear that DNA from a missing 5-year-old girl was found on the body of a man accused of raping her.

However, the jury may not hear some statements made by Lindsey Bruce to police.

Bruce, 24, is charged with kidnapping and raping Emily Rimel, who has been missing from her suburban Columbus home since Dec. 7. She is presumed dead, but her body has not been found

A convicted sexual predator said a man admitted to him in jail that he killed a 5-year-old girl who disappeared in December.

In an interview with The Columbus Dispatch and WBNS-TV, John Tomlinson said Lindsey Bruce confessed to him after watching news footage of authorities searching for Emily Rimel, who has not been seen since she disappeared from her apartment Dec. 7.

"He said he took her from her bed. He hurt that girl and he realized he really hurt her. Then he knew he had a problem. The only other choice was to remove her and that's when the panic set in," said Tomlinson, who was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison for sexually molesting a 3-year-old girl.

Tomlinson is among the inmates who were in jail in December when Bruce was booked on charges of raping Emily. Robert Patton, also known as the Linden-area rapist, suspected baby killer Patrick McCloud and theft suspect Thomas Coverdale also will testify, NBC 4 reported.

If these suspects are allowed to testify and are believed by the jury, I think Bruce's goose is cooked.

It was quiet for a while, but now there is a renewed search for 5-year-old Emily Rimel, who has been missing since December 7.

Her body has never been found, but police got a tip on where to find her late last week.

Monday, the trial for Lindsey Bruce, charged with kidnapping and raping Emily, was put on hold while the search was resumed.

The new trial date on the rape charge for Bruce is now August 15.
