I have a feeling they just may have the perp in custody that is responsible for Katelyns disappearance. I believe LE has been aware for awhile too.

He may not have been in her apartment tho. No one can say with certainty that she did not go out of her apartment that night. She could have stepped outside, walked over to that store for a drink or snack just taking money in her pocket and her phone expecting to be right back. They need search warrants to his vehicle and also where he was living at that time. There could possible be DNA . Blood droplets, hair, fiber. Its certainly worth a try.

Interesting that one of John's friends on the Katelyn Considering Everything Facebook page named MM says that she was with John in CVS after Katelyn went missing and talked with this guy. She said Kang kept telling her and John how sorry he was that Katelyn was missing.

I believe Katelyn and John smoked cigarettes, so that would be an obvious reason to be familiar with people who worked at the nearby gas station.

MM is John's step sister - just to clarify her more for those who don't know.

I don't see how they will be able to link this guy to Katelyn, unless he confesses...LE has always said there was no crime scene, no clues as to what happened to her. But I hope they can, of course, if he is guilty. If he is, obviously not good for Katelyn, as it is pretty clear he is not "holding" her somewhere, IMO.

My head is spinning trying to explore all the ideas right now (and think of new search places for the weekend!) but maybe they can get cell pings on this guy and that could help us identify a new search area.

Also, maybe KM DNA will be in his car, house or maybe he kept a trophy if - big IF, he is the responsible party.

I am also having creepy thoughts that if he worked at a gas station and a local rumor says his family owns some of these convenient store type stations, then he might have a key to dump her body in an abandoned gas tank at one of the many closed stations in the area.

okay... so here is a map to show condos, apartments (there is only one set on that street so I am sure they are the ones) and the gas station on east river road that is by her condo (only one) and also marked hamilton, Ohio where he moved last summer

I found a Dorshire drive addy for the same family name, but won't post without you saying I can!

Just seeing some movement in this thread is getting my heart pumping! So glad I decided to ditch work today ;)

I'm not so sure that's the same guy. There are quite a few guys named Gurpreet Kang in the world. From what I can find out, that photographer may be Canadian.

And he was headed for Canada. I think his father might have the same exact name, not sure on the middle initial yet!

Kang was arrested about two weeks ago by authorities in Wayne County, Mich. in Detroit and was extradited to Ohio.

What does LE need to extradite a person? Can they do it based upon suspicion or do they need probable cause and evidence?

Added: I just realized Miami University was in Ohio. I was thinking FL. Now I see why he was extradited to Ohio...

BTW - Same middle initial as the exact same name I found on Dorshire.

Since he surely had an arrest warrant for sexual battery in Oxford Ohio, I'm certain they had enough evidence. He wasn't extradited for anything specifically due to Katelyn's disappearance.

The maximum prison sentence for felony sexual battery in Ohio seems to be five years. I wonder if he has any priors that would give him a longer possible sentence. I wouldn't expect a guy facing five years to confess to a murder and kidnapping but, if he is responsible, maybe he does feel guilty (like he told MM) because he liked Katelyn as a person. Just hoping.

Number less than 10 in the 5300 block. KM townhouse was 521#

Nurse - if this is not okay, yell at me nicely and delete!

well, they already said apartments in the media article and there is only one apartment complex on that street.... We have the general idea...

I sure hope this leads to a break in Katelyn's case... it sure sounds like all the circumstances line up... I wonder if they had questioned him before because he obviously was still an employee at that gas station... I bet they also had pulled ccvid from there during the course of the investigation!

Sure sounds like this one was on the radar.... or they wouldn't come right out and say they are looking into a link...

:moo:

I want to know how they got his dna! (I suck at looking up past arrest records so not sure if he has any priors but he either did or he gave a swab imhoo)

Nurse,
I am taking it they had DNA from the Oxford case and then when he was arrested in Mich they did a DNA and got a CODIS hit.
