After tracking her cell phone, Lakewood Police said they believe at the end of August, Madison was at a hotel in Warrensville Heights and in the areas of South Miles Road, Lee Road, and Harvard Road.

Since then, her phone has either been turned off or ran out of battery.

In previous interviews, Maddie's mother states that she was alerted by the friend on the east side that Madison went to see, who said she "didn't know where Madison was" and that she may have "gone to the store or something." I wonder (but have no knowledge) if this friend was interviewed by LE.
This case is most concerning.

Do we have any information about this 'friend on the east side'? It would seem logical that LE would interview that person at some point. Did Madison travel specifically to meet this person? If so, how did Madison travel? From what I've read Madison doesn't appear have the means to travel that far without some type of transportation.

It’s been more than 40 days since 17-year-old Madison Rich went missing. Her family believes she is alive.

On Saturday, they held a Support Vigil on the Solstice Steps at Lakewood Park to keep Madison's name in the news. They hope it will jog someone's memory who may have seen Maddie recently and didn't know it or may know where she is.

That area of the east side is pretty rough and a hot spot for trafficking. The Express Inn has constant issues with police there constantly. It's a 25 minute drive from Lakewood to Warrensville Hts on a good day, cutting across Cleveland, so definitely not a trip you would make walking.

Unfortunately I think trafficking is the most likely concern right now.

On Saturday, her family and the Cleveland Missing held a vigil at Lakewood Park for Maddie in hopes of getting her information in the hands of more people.

“Maddie loves the solstice steps,” said mother Tracey Rich. “She’ll go there just to take pictures of the water, she’ll take pictures of the sunsets”.

During the vigil, flyers were handed out with green ribbons to spread them around the city.

Interesting comment from her mother concerning Madison's mental health issue:

"We've been in the process of trying to get her the help that she needs, but we think that maybe it turned into that, leading into her being in a situation where she just can't get out of right now. Rich said it's not like her daughter to stop communicating with everyone. "It is not like Maddie to not talk to her friends or social media or anything like that.”

  • When Madison went missing on the morning of Aug 15, her mother was worried but discovered that Madison was still communicating on SM.
  • For the next few days, Madison communicated with friends via phone and Snapchat. Her family was able to track her on the 15th, 16th, and 17th.
  • Per Lakewood police, when Madison left home, she initially stayed at a friend’s home in Cleveland and communicated with other individuals via phone and Snapchat.
  • On Aug 18, Madison left the friend’s home and LE picked up her phone’s GPS location in Warrensville Heights, Ohio.
  • The phone has not registered with any cell tower since Aug 18.

Seems like someone took her phone.

I am hopeful for a "found safe" on this case and hope that happens soon.

Dang it. I grew up near this area and where she was last seen is sketchy. I am hoping this girl is found safe, but the way she just dropped out of sight isn't a good sign.

Yeah, I lately drive through there, going to Shaker Heights. I'll keep an eye out. It's a busy area. Isn't that where a big Amazon warehouse is located now? The reason I mention it is because I see a lot of people driving to work there commuting from other areas. If you drive by there around shift change, you'll see a lot of cars coming to and from the west side via I-480 and from the south via I-271.

I have the same hunch - that someone has stolen Madison's phone. If most of her friends were on the west side, would there be any reason to go to the eastern suburbs? I wish they could find a better way to locate her cell phone.

Much of the area around Lee/Harvard/Green Rd is office buildings, parks, cemetery, golf course, etc. There’s a busy commercial area at Lee and Harvard, older residential and commercial area at Northfield & Harvard. I avoid those intersections if I can because there can be strange or shady people wandering around on foot there. One evening I was stopped at the light there and a strange, disheveled man walked up to the back of my SUV in the middle of the street and began banging on the window and yelling nonsense. I got out of there fast.

This is a troubling situation. I hope they find her soon.

Although I don't live there anymore, I do know about the new Amazon facility as well as other industry around there being built up. Unfortunately it seems that, along with new businesses, this area has also attracted some sketchy people... I just keep wondering what this 17-18 year-old girl and/or her phone would be doing down there; unfortunately, none of my scenarios are good!

When I was reading up on this case (little as there seems to be), I was checking on the photos of Madison. There are a few that are obviously school photos, but this one, without her glasses, is the one that troubles me. What I see in looking at this picture, Madison's eyes are pinpointed and she has shadows underneath... She doesn't look well. Like, perhaps she might be on something. Now, this speculation is ALL my opinion and I am not trying to accuse her in any way at all - She just looks so different than the school pic. Of course, none of this should matter because she is still missing and needs to be found. Like, IMMEDIATELY.
However, if Madison did get mixed up with any illicit substances, her friends might know where she was getting them - if this is true, I really hope one of them will share with the police.

It is cases like this that truly frighten me because she could easily slip through the cracks. WAY too easily!

Smart girl. Glad she made the right choice. It probably helped that her mom spent some time talking directly to her on the local TV news interviews. Wishing both of them all the best and kudos to her friend who responded so well.
