I want to see George and if he's looking at them. Her step dad is staring straight over there and I'd love to see how George is reacting to these statements. I'm sure there is zero remorse.

I am glad she is saying this.. she wanted the DP. He deserved that 100% he deserved that. Prison is too good, he gets food when children are starving.

First statement from Hannah Gilley's aunt read by victims' advocate. Next is Andrea Shoemaker - the mother of Hannah Hazel Gilley - I can't see her anymore because of the actions of you and your evil family.

"I have to answer questions that should never have to be asked" Shoemaker says about the questions being asked by her granddaughter about victim Hanna May Rhoden

My grandson was made an orphan in one night. "I see the pain and mourning for his father in his eyes every night”

"The devil always hunts in the dark ... just like you did George Wagner with your evil family in one night on April 21 and 22nd."

Says her father - Hannah Hazel's grandfather - mourned himself to death over her death. Another victim. "I was brought up to believe in eye for an eye." Says he should have been given the death penalty

"I hope your son learns what a monster you really are and grows up wanting nothing to do with you ... I want you to die" like the family you killed and my baby girl.

I pray that you Judge Deering see the devil that George Wagner really is and sentence him to life in prison.

Next up is Kendra Rhoden - daughter of victim Kenneth Rhoden.

Says she considered suicide in 2017, had a daughter of her own in 2018 and has to answer questions about her absent father and her grandfather.

Asks for max penalty - "it's the closest to justice that we can get." Next up is Chelsea - Frankie's former girlfriend and mother of their son.

Chelsea's statement is so powerful. She read a statement from her son. :(

Then she said real mothers don't plot and plan to kill people because you don't get your way.

Then she called George out for getting on the stand to lie.

Chelsea Robinson reads message from her son now 9 to George "why did you kill my daddy?" I can't learn things like derby cars without him. Chelsea says "I hope you burn in hell. God says we're supposed to forgive, but I just can't right now.”

Next is April Manley - Dana Rhoden's sister in law. Says she is representing Leonard Manley, Dana's father, died of liver cancer before trial began. "I hope George Wagner spends the rest of his life in prison and never see your loved ones again" like we can't see ours.

Victims' advocate Cindy reading statement from Bobby Manley, Dana's sister. Says George "not worth the air he is breathing ... but this day is not about you" and instead about victims.

Statement read from Ruth Rhoden, Gary's mother. His father died before trial as well. Statement points out today is Gary's birthday - he would have been 45.

Now up - Tony Rhoden. Brother of Chris Sr. and Kenneth Rhoden. Telling stories of growing up with his brothers. Had to chase him down and carry Chris to the bus.

Chris was "caring, gracious and kind" life was cut short "by others committing selfish acts.”

Runs through all the family victims with funny anecdotes or kind memories ending each of them with their life "cut short by the selfish acts of others.”

Remembers inviting over the kids of Jake and George for Christmas the month after Wagners were arrested. His mom brought both kids to her lap and gave them hugs and presents "that is what true love is"

Tony now reading statement from Geneva Rhoden, his mother and mother of Chris Sr and Kenneth - George "you are still breathing and my sons are not" "all I ask for is some justice." Concludes victim statements - now a 10 minute recess.

Back in Pike Co. for the sentencing of George Wagner IV. Will include family impact statements so expecting some emotional testimony. Full report tonight at 4 and 5 on @local12 as well.

Up first, arguing defense motions for new trial. Introduced last week - says they should have had access to Jake's conversations with his lawyers, and that jury should have been told earlier about death penalty being lifted against Jake

Judge Deering denies defense motion. Now letting Wagner know he has to be enrolled in violent offender database because he was convicted of eight counts of murders.

He has right to rebut it and argue he was not principal offender.

Judge notes that it was rebutted, but rules he still needs to enroll in the program if and when he is ever released from prison.

Moving on to the sentencing hearing. Prosecution asking for the maximum possible. Asks to consider the impact on the victims and their families.

Canepa: This is one of the most serious murder cases in Ohio history, given the four months of premeditation and all the victims were killed in one night - without having done anything.

Victims' statements include that of Frankie Rhoden's son who is now 9 years old.

Canepa closes with "he does not deserve mercy”

Such a powerful statement by Tony. He said Nov 13, 2018 arrests were made and that Christmas they contacted whoever it was (missed that part) about getting Bulvine and Sophia for Christmas dinner. Then after dinner each of the kids would sit on his mother, Geneva's lap and get a present. Bulvine was no relation to them, but he was called and sat on her lap and got his present and a hug. His mother taught them all love. His brothers taught it to their children.

Statement after statement speaking about the love the Rhoden's, Manley's, and Gilley's had for others and one another. I really liked what one of them said that the victims of this tragedy are far greater than the 8 lives that were taken. So much this world is missing out on with the loss of Chris Sr, Gary, Dana, Hanna Mae, Chris Jr, Frankie, Hannah Hazel, and Kenneth.

Defense now giving brief arguments asking for minimum sentences and that burglaries be merged into one as well as tampering. Says George Wagner will not speak on own behalf, but that he still maintains his innocence.

New thread for sentencing. Deering asks if he can impose sentence right now - George says no objection. Deering: no sentence I can impose can right the wrong imposed on the families. Murder irreversable act.

Court finds murders do meet the worst conditions - invasions of their homes and bedrooms and in their sleep with two with infants in bed with them.

Deering running through all the factors he needs to consider in imposing sentences both by law as well than his discretion: it is more serious than others, especially the impact on the victims or their survivors. Age of victims as well oldest was 44.

Says many were in bed and some were actually asleep.

Deering: Court does find conditions are more serious than usually conduct for the offense. None of the conditions that would lessen seriousness exist.

Deering: Court does find conditions are more serious than usually conduct for the offense. None of the conditions that would lessen seriousness exist.

It was anticipated and planned that harm and death would be caused. No mitigation of the actual impact.

Court quite frankly finds that defendant shows no remorse, rather nothing but denial.

Also did not live a "law abiding life" even if he was never prosecuted or convicted of other crimes or acts.

SENTENCE FOR GEORGE WAGNER IV: Life in prison without parole for all eight aggravated murder charges.

SENTENCE FOR GEORGE WAGNER IV: Life in prison without parole for all eight aggravated murder charges.

Walking through other charges now. He's up to about 60 years with those other 16 charges in indictment, including 8 years apiece for four counts of burglary, 1 count corrupt activity, and two counts of conspiracy.

He's now getting an additional 6 years for each murder charge because of gun specifications as well as aggravated burglary.

Total 81 years for firearm specifications alone to be served consecutively.

All prison terms are consecutive "to punish" the crime and are not disproportionate to the level of the crimes

The final few charges can be served concurrently 8 consecutive terms, life in prison without parole, plus 121 years in prison to be served consecutively because of gun specs and other charge

Finally. I listened to some of it while I was out. Glad to know some sentences will be served consecutively.

Didn't get to hear all the impact statements, but the ones I heard were very moving and compelling. I will watch the video.

My heart goes out to all the Rhodens, Manleys, Gilleys, Chelsea Robinson's family and of course to the children.

Next up: Billy.

.#GeorgeWagnerIV has been sentenced to eight consecutive terms of life without parole for his role in the 2016 shooting deaths of seven members of the Rhoden family and one future member. 1/4

Randy Deering, judge in the Pike County Common Pleas Court, also sentenced Wagner IV to 121 additional years for 14 other charges. Of those 81 were mandatory for use of firearms. 2/4

Wagner IV showed no emotion as the judge asked him to stand to be sentenced. The courtroom was mostly silent, with modest applause after Deering read his first ruling of life without parole. 3/4

Wagner IV will not be fined for his crimes, but will absorb court costs. He adjourned the three month proceedings at 1:09 pm.. 4/4
