BBMWhy was not bond revoked on the spot? I don't understand the need for a hearing. She did or didn't accept calls. If she did, bond revoked...
Here's the reason bond was not revoked on the spot:
Pike Co. prosecutors want to revoke grandmother's bond
Prosecution files motion to revoke Newcomb’s bond - Times Gazette
"...But the state announced its plan to file a motion asking for Newcomb to go back to jail.
The state said it plans to present evidence in court next month that Newcomb allegedly had conversations with her daughter.
Both sides will head back to court for pre-trial motions on Aug. 28..."
"...Pike County Court of Common Pleas Judge Randy Deering set Aug. 28 as a day to hear oral arguments on the prosecution’s motion to revoke Newcomb’s bond...
Deering said he takes very seriously any violations of the terms of Newcomb’s release, but added conversations between Newcomb and Wagner, in which they discussed the case, would exacerbate the situation..."
As is pointed out, above, there are 2 things wrong with what Rita did:
#1. She had contact with Angela.
#2. She actually discussed the case with Angela. ( I assume they discussed their court cases but won't know for sure until the hearing.)
I wonder if Rita refrains from contact with Angela between now and August 28, if she will remain on house arrest?
If she does accept any calls from Angela -- Delaware County Jail Inmate -- between now and August 28, I am %100 sure her house arrest will be revoked and she will be remanded to jail.
