I have never heard of an instance where pot plants were confiscated and no charges were filed. Maybe this was done to let people know they are watching, and if they don't want to get into trouble, don't plant anything in their yard they don't want the whole town to know about!
Probably a waste of man hours taken away from actual police work! One pot plant, in a state where pot just went legal for medical, I'd say isn't worth the money to charge and waste the court's time.
I realize Reader has been under a lot of pressure, but he should've known better than thinking chnl 19 wouldn't follow up on his promises of increased security (link). He might be doing what he's doing for all the right reasons, but he is elected and has to show results, or he has to show his hand. Not to the public, but he has to reach out to someone and ask for help, someone who can handle this without their head stuck in the sand, someone with credibility. According to his fb he received an award recently, for his good performance during those days in April. Went back to his fb to look at it, but he has now activated all his privacy settings.

Hmmm, I'm starting to think the whole scenario was meant to bait. No trespassing signs won't keep people out. Come to think of it, neither will a locked gate. And a single guard could be ambushed just like the victims. Maybe they've set some sort of trap.
It has occurred to me that if the killers ARE local, which I really don't think is the case, it has been over five months now, probably think they're home free and have nothing to worry about. The old saying "ten foot tall and bullet proof".
Update on Autopsies
They are serious about wanting to be tight lipped:
He said the redactions relate to facts only known to investigators and perpetrators: locations and descriptions of injuries, forensic evidence, and other details not generally known to the public.
Another affidavit written by the case's lead investigator, Bureau of Criminal Investigation Special Agent Michael Trout, said, "Information about this case has already been released to the public both through law enforcement and through leaks that were not authorized by investigators."
The Enquirer has moved to have the case put back on the Ohio Supreme Court docket.

The more DeWine talks, the more I believe they have no idea who did this. If they don't even know how many, how could they know who? I don't think it is a problem with the investigation, I think it is a reflection on how good the perps did their job...
I think DeWine, Ohio BC I and local LE are all in over their heads, have been all along. It's now obvious they've pretty much shut the FBI and DEA out of the case, a big mistake as they have more experience.
As you say, the killer's were good at covering their tracks and state and local agencies who don't have enough experience in handling this level of criminal activity are lost. That's why they're locking down every shred of evidence: they have no clue what is important.
What makes it obvious they've "shut the FBI and DEA out of the case"? State and local LE wouldn't have authority to do so. The fact that they're the ones with custody of evidence and making media statements doesn't mean federal agencies aren't involved. This could very much be part of a larger investigation involving several crimes in several states.
I remember watching a program a few years ago that happened in Tenn. The man running for mayor was gunned down in his front yard. They had a suspect right off the bat, but it took the SD and TBI many, many months to get all the evidence they needed to prosecute the murder and bust up his illegal drug "company", for lack of a better word. And that was just one murder!Seems like every government investigative organization should be asked for help.
