And if her stepfather had kicked her out of the house as he claimed, why wouldn't she have went to her friends house in Akron?
At that time her mother lived in Springfield, Ohio, which is halfway between Columbus and Dayton.
The driving distance between Akron and Springfield is 172 miles.
It would have taken her a little over 3 hours to drive from Akron to Springfield as the maximum speed limit on the interstates was 55 mph back then.
No doubt that is the correct locationThere is a springfield township right outside of Akron and people around here just refer to it as Springfield.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13222141Also, why would he say that she left on foot but her car vanished shortly after her (if I'm not mistaking there was believed to be only one key to her car, no duplicates) and ended up destroyed at a junkyard before police could get to it?
Thank you, was wondering about that.http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?p=13222141

Nerosleuth, although I am well north of you, when I hear Springfield, Ohio I also generally think of the Springfield near you. But in this context, dealing with an Akron case, I assumed the other cuz I'm local. I would have done the same thing as you if this wasn't an Akron case.
I made the same mistake as Nerosleuth since I was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. (Clark County)
