Stephanie has three children two boys and a girl, ages 9, 17, and 19. I've found the divorce records for Stephanie and two husbands. She was divorced from the first husband in 1995 and they had two children. She was divorced from the second husband in 2007 and I'm assuming that the youngest child was from that marriage.

I think the children are living with their fathers. In the first divorce, the two children had a week with one parent and a week with the other. That may be the case with the youngest too.

I read at the very beginning that the youngest was with his father. I don't have a link so that will have to be just hearsay, I guess. Wherever he was, with his father, or grandparents or whoever.....THANK GOD he was! I am sure his mother was probably thinking that exact thing when whatever happened was occurring.

Someone has posted on FB that the description of Stephanie's clothes came from an employee at a Mt. Vernon tanning salon who saw her at around noon on Wednesday. Good clue, if true.

Aside: When I go out shopping in our medium-sized town, I try to dress semi-decently. But several years ago, I realized that when I run into someone I know, I can never remember what they had been wearing at all, most especially their shoes. It made me wonder if anyone noticed what I was wearing. Thankfully, when my kids were small they never went missing, even for a short time. I would have been hard pressed to remember what they had been wearing. Maybe it's just me. It seems that most people have better recall than I do.

JMO

You and me both, antiquegirl. The only person I can recall what she was wearing today at the office is a woman who wore a particularly nice outfit. That's it. Can't tell you what anyone wore to work today, not even the folks with offices next to mine!

A search team found a purple sweatshirt, white jeans, tennis shoes and a hair clip while looking today for two women and a young boy missing in Knox County since last Wednesday.

Knox Sheriff Barber couldn't confirm if they are relevant to the investigation into the trio's disappearance. He reiterated the longer no one heard from Tina Sherrmann, Kody Maynard and Stephanie Sprang, the more likely they are dead.

 OMG (bold-red mine)..............did he burn the bodies!

I do remember reading that he was burning something in his yard. He apparently likes burning things he is a convicted arsonist.

What an awesome picture.......for some reason......it gives me hope. I keep wondering if they're alive and hidden somewhere and they haven't been able to get themselves free yet. It's been a long while for them to be without food/water though. Probably wishful thinking I know but I'm still clinging to that last sliver of hope.....stranger things have happened.
Kudos to the person who took it and posted it over there...they are trying so hard to keep it to only positive comments and search coordination (and info confirmed by LE) due to large numbers of family and friends that are monitoring that FB site.

I didn't see it posted on Stephanie's FB site though.

I'm stumped. According to this post Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - OH OH - 2 women and 2 children, Apple Valley, 11.10.2010 - 13 year old rescued #5, she has had five different surnames. One has been proven to be her maiden name (Thompson). She is probably not divorced from her last husband. That still leaves one extra name unaccounted for. Just trying to make sense of too many things in this case that don't add up.

From looking at the map, MH could easily see Stephanie's backyard from the backyard of his parent's house. It's a very open area, she may even recognize him from being around the neighborhood. Most people are friendly with others they have seen around, I'm sure if he approached her she wouldn't have had her guard up. It's a bit more of a stretch, but he could also sit in the very back (near what looks like a shed) and see Tina's house. He could have very easily been watching their schedules without drawing much suspicion.

My guess is Stephanie may have been at Tina's house, he came up with some story for being there, and they just let him in. Possibly using the dog running loose story, it doesn't appear as if Tina's yard is fenced in. Wasn't it reported that his mother said he had been there last on Tuesday?

I listening to archives files for a time of the wellness call on the 11th.
I will post what I find in the scanner thread.

I don't think I can post here...rules

One time before cellphones a neighbor came over while I was on the phone, and asked to use my phone. I didn't know her well, but didn't trust her and didn't want her in my house. Besides, I wasn't planning to get off the phone too soon. So I refused to let her in, and she was extremely indignant. Some people can make others feel anti-social when in fact they're the ones to be worried about.

People who have no conscience and don't care about other people's feelings are quite skilled in getting what they want at the expense of others.

We may be dealing with an arsonist type personality, but I figure that he was not the true arsonist type. I see it more likely that the arson was just one step in building himself up enough to move to the more (pardon the expression) "exciting" behavior of kidnapping and possibly worse. That is one of the progressions that is often seen in a psychopath.

They will commit small insignificant crimes until they lose that exciting effect (much like building up a tolerance for a drug) and then they will have to move on to bigger, more dangerous crimes to get that same feeling.

and neighbors saw fires in his back yard..............
did this sub human burn his victims?

Hiding 3 people (kidnapping 4) planned? I would think so.

I wonder why LE feels the need to keep saying they are probably dead? I mean, of course it is a possibility, but usually they say the opposite, at least for a while.

In a tree perhaps? Neighbors reported him doing this...

I think it's on account of the fact that they found a large amount of blood in the home. That shows right there that this guy doesn't mind hurting someone in their own home. It just seems realistic after finding Sarah in his basement that he didn't want to keep the others around for anything. If he didn't keep them around, I highly doubt they are alive anymore. I have never heard of someone just tying someone up somewhere then leaving them to be found. If he was going to do that, why not just wear a mask when he came to the house and tie them up there, taking Sarah.

From a poster of FB (take it how you will), regarding if LE have been back to check Stephanie's house...

I don't know if they have gone back there since Monday. But I do know that when her mother went to the house Stephanies boyfriend would not let her in.

Post initials are CD.

.
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions based on that. I did some research on this for another case.

  • A hair clip, whether plastic or cheap metal, would be one of the first things to melt in a fire.

  • How would it have gotten from the body to where it was found (after it had partially burnt)?

  • As I posted recently, human bodies are made up of about 80% water and need extremely high temperatures and a long time to incinerate completely.

  • If human bodies were set afire under regular circumstances, it would take at least 18 - 24 hours and there would still be some bones left. (Pretty hard for a fire lasting that long to go unnoticed.)

  • Hopefully, any such major fires in the past week would have been investigated by LE by now. Evidence more substantial than a hair clip would have been found.
In spite of MH's history, I find this an unlikely scenario now that a week has gone by and LE is still encouraging searches and putting out info about clothes.

I thought of that too! I tried to see if there were any large trees in his parent's yard, but it is hard to tell on the satellite view.

That does sound very reasonable about not being a true arsonist considering his arson offense was 10 years ago and his only offense of this type. Also the arson was supposed to be in relation to his buglary, which doesn't even make sense. How many people cover up a buglary with arson. :waitasec: I think he is just a very disturbed person who may be capable of pretty much anything that pops into his demented head. JMO

I would like to add...even in a cremation done by a funeral home there are still bone fragments left. I know this from my husband's cremation. Some of the bone fragments can be quarter sized.
