Went to Tulsa today to attend a human trafficking seminar. They asked you who you are and what you do at the door. Told them I coordinated CFSI OK.

More of that status from that link above:

I was the only person at the seminar that could speak to the actual presence of trafficking in Tulsa and the numerous arrested that came from some of our missing children investigations.

...and they have a maid. They should talk to the maid because she/he probably knows Annie better than her parents right now. Kids tend to converse easier with anyone not their parents at her age.

"Parents were on edge after seeing Facebook posts about a traveling saleswoman going door-to-door in several metro neighborhoods. The posts warned the that woman who was selling educational materials actually had connections to human trafficking."

She said she started hanging out with older friends and, when she was 11, she went with some of them to a party at an apartment in Tulsa. She said she was drugged and awoke naked on a dirty mattress inside a room she didn't recognize. The windows were boarded up and the door was locked from the outside.

Just really makes me wonder about these "bad people" those boys said they seen Annie Jo talking to.

Gotta wonder why this mess of prostitution/pimping is not cleaned up! Someone(s) has to be looking other way, must be $$ going into pockets!

from her FindAnnieJo FB page:

We will be putting up flyers Sunday afternoon. Please meet at 4:30 at intersection of Western and Hefner. There is a parking area west of the 7-11 (store is on corner). Please indicate if you will be able to come help!! Bring tape, pencil and water. We need a lot of help, so please, please join us!!!

I wonder if there's any significance to this particular intersection? Because Western Avenue is a mile east of Casady School, the opposite direction from where the search warrant was served.

I don't know a lot about this human traffic trash. But do they try to find vulnerable girls or do they just take anybody? It seems there are some girls who would do this for a different life, but some would be more stable and go to the nearest police station asap. Do they keep them and mess with their heads first? I just don't see a girl with a future just walking the streets in CA or somewhere away from home. Do they talk them into going or they grab them and tie them up? I just don't know how this works and if somebody knows if there's a good article on how this works, I would read up!

It really depends on the traffickers and what they are planning on selling them for (domestic housework, sex trade, etc.). Often they go after girls who live in the former USSR or SE Asia, promising them jobs in America/Europe, but then the girls end up 'owing' their captors huge debts for food, hotels, travel and documents. The girls then have to 'work' off their debts.
They often go after people who are vulnerable for some reason. Most of the people missing in OK lately have been teenage girls, who are often vulnerable for some reason. They are probably 'keeping them and messing with their heads' some, through torture, multiple sexual assaults and sensory deprivation.

Hope that helps.

"Not For Sale" by David Batstone and "Enslaved" by Jesse Sage and Liora Kasten are both good resources to understand the world of human trafficking.

Here is one of the better documentaries I've found about sex trafficking.

http://vimeo.com/m/31494881

I don't know a whole lot myself just yet about all this sex trafficking here in America. I just discovered how common it is last summer well researching other stuff so I never got to deep into it but I remember this being a dang good documentary that opened my eyes to it.

I'm not sure exactly what lengths they go to to get girls. But I do know that the younger the girls the more money the pimp makes. I watched another documentary where the victim was a typical teen with a loving family who got mixed up with some older guys. One night she goes with them has one drink and wakes up naked in a hotel room on the floor with two other men and from there they kept her drugged. By the time they are done breaking these girls they are simply to scared to even make a move let alone attempt to run for help.
What if they didn't make it to the help they were running to? That thought is so scary in it self.

I'm currently myself trying to find out more about how they get these girls. I know that most of these girls are born into a hard life and are easy targets. I know that a lot of pimps will get them addicted to drugs to keep them coming back till they get them where they want them and force them to start working to then pay off drug debt. I haven't found anything yet that talks about if they straight out kidnap girls. Other then the news arrival about the lady going house to house as a saleswoman and that was never confirmed that she had connections to the sex trade.

But I don't see why they wouldn't be kidnapping girls at some point. An untouched, educated, pretty, great body, teen girl would make a pimp a lot more money then a girl who's a little older, hooked on drugs, looks ruff from years of the street life. So I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they started to kidnap girls at random. It would make them more money. In the end that's all its about is money.

I also watched another documentary about two cousins who were young, teens. They were flat out kidnapped and had family looking for them. They were forced to prostitute at truck stops.

Excellent post. You make a good point here - the younger they are, the more money the traffickers can get, especially if the girls are still virgins. Taking a girl's virginity can get a trafficker tens of thousands of dollars.

Thanks. See I guess what I'm thinking is surly they have to be running out of girls who come from bad homes that they can lure in by being nice at first. There are only so many girls that fit what they want physically in a certain age group. So you would think they would have to resort to kidnapping them at some point.

I wish somebody would explain what they meant by "bad people" Annie Jo was seen talking with. It could mean known druggies, known thugs, or even people who don't go to school and just hang out. If this person knew they were bad, he/she should know why and who. Or maybe that story was made up to cover up. Does McD's have cameras?
