What has always bothered me is they were found so close to their truck. I would think they would have searched from the truck out with people and dogs for at least three miles. If they did I missed it.

That's harder than it sounds, though. Searching in a 3 mile radius from the truck means searching over 28 square miles.

It is very sad to learn this was the outcome, although I am sure most people assumed the remains were theirs. I don't post often but have followed this case and read here even before I was a member. Some of my thoughts (and forgive me if they have been talked about before I might have missed them).

The picture: I have kids and some around that age don't like getting pics taken. The fact not more pics were released/take from that day might indicate this was the case with their daughter. In the pic to me she looks cold. I don't like to speak ill of the dead but just looking at this one pic (which I know is just one moment in time) her clothes don't fit quite right. This might be an indication to the state of mind of her parents. I am sure they loved here and cared for her, but some times in a bad state of mind things slip and aren't paid attention to (like a jacket for your child when you go hiking)

Disease: Personality disorders are a disease. Unless you have dealt with someone who refuses medication it is hard to understand how devastating it can be. It is also a disease because it is not the persons fault. Suicide is a horrible thing and it happens all the time. I also agree with the possibility of a shared psychosis. This may be what was being referenced since Sherilyn had a personality disorder. She was likely also unmedicated and seems to have had mood swings. They also seemed to have lots of changes/stress going on.

Haunted/possession/demons etc: See above. As for the minister or whomever it was, many religions saw mental illness as demon possession and that train of thought does still exist in many christian based belief systems. It is hard to understand someone is mentally ill some times and pointing to an unknown troubling situation where perhaps there wasn't one before isn't hard to do when you believe in the devil. Example: my ex husband was mentally ill and on drugs and almost had me and my friends convinced aliens were following him.

My thoughts are that it is possible this was a murder suicide. The flower with Madyson if there the whole time indicates remorse. Someone who cared about her. They could have died at their own hand and given the state of the bones it would never show up. As for the missing gun, and the dog, I believe someone went into that truck because it was sitting there and no one was around to stop them. They could have taken the gun, locked up the truck and never seen the money in there because they just rifled through. I also believe it is possible the bodies were moved. Maybe someone found them and freaked out knowing the search was on for the family and moved them off their property and they just weren't found until last year.
I don't rule out foul play I just think the simplest explanation is usually right. This family was high stress. She had just lost her son, they lost income (child support) that helped pay for their home. The family feuds that were happening likely didn't help. Bobby was disabled, which alone can be a cause of depression and hopelessness. Mom was by all accounts unmedicated and manic. Sad situation and I wish maybe someone could have stepped in to help them out (whether suicide or getting themselves into a bad situation)

My opinions only, no facts here:

I posted extensively in the past about this case. In a Websleuths post from Jan. 20, 2012 I said:
__________________________________
"I suggest the following scenario-

The Jamisons were looking for land in the region.
The Jamisons were told or otherwise made aware of land available in the area they were interested in, by someone who had an ulterior motive.
The Jamisons brought cash with them to pay for the property (the amount of money in the bag may be important).
The family was met at their vehicle by the perpetrator, who led them along the trail determined by the tracking dog or dogs.
Along the way they snapped a photo of their daughter.
The perpetrator led them to the watertank area where HE had a vehicle ready.
The perpetrator then produced a weapon and kidnapped the family.
The primary motive was to silence one of the parents and the remaining two people were potential witnesses; the motive was not robbery or perversion.
The three missing people are somewhere within a few miles of where they disappeared.

I do not think that drug dealing or delusional visions are involved. I would look for a more common 'human' motive. Maybe someone who has something to lose if the targeted person remained alive and talking."
___________________________________

And repeating myself, I said well over two years ago "The three missing people are somewhere within a few miles of where they disappeared." I knew something then and I know something now. The only thing I would change from this long-ago post is that the photo of their daughter was taken before the day of the family's abduction (later it was recognized by me that the cell phone was left in the family truck with the poor dog).

A sensible method to silence three people is to put them in a confined area and feed in engine exhaust (carbon monoxide poisoning). Second choice- lock the family in a sealed compartment and wait for the oxygen to run out. No marks, no detectable cause of death. Easy-peasy.

This area is not a remote wilderness by any standard. A family does not wander around unnoticed and die from exposure over several days in this area. And a family does not willingly leave their dog in their truck to die. And a family does not bring tens of thousands of dollars in a sack to commit collective suicide.

This was a crime committed by a non-member of the family. A crime of passion, after-the-fact.

Sleuth On!

They weren't the sharpest darts in the board, these parents. I've never entirely bought the "land buy" scenario -- sounds a little like a ruse. Instead I think that somehow they encountered elements beyond their control whilst doing whatever they were up to (big hint: cash money in truck), and it resulted in the death of their daughter, and their own.

The thing that gets me, that seems to rule out half the theories is the photo. They left the truck took a photo of there daughter ( looking distressed somewhat) RETURNED TO THE TRUCK and locked the phone inside with everything else and then disappeared. I have absolutely no idea what happened to this family no matter what the scenario you come up with there's always somthing that doesn't fit.

Great first post! Thanks for joining us in the Jamison family's thread.

Things of Which I'm Certain

1. The child's picture means nothing.

Things of Which I'm Uncertain

1. Everything else.

Great first post! Thanks for joining us in the Jamison family's thread.

Thank you :) I'm really fascinated by missing person cases. The jamisons and mcstays are very bizarre.

Here's my train of thort-
1. Murder/suicide- why take the dog? Why take the photo and why take the money?
2. Lost in bush- why take the cash? And not take the dog and gps or phone would be helpfull if you did get lost.
3.drug deal gone bad- the cash was left?
4. Taken by force for what ever reason- the car was locked and they weren't taken straight away as they took a photo and returned to the truck.
5 where's the gun and the brown brief case thing that was seen loaded into truck on the home cameras?

If I for some reason were cornered and made to slap together two cliches to explain what happened, I'd choose "Loose lips sink ships" + "Speed kills."

They talked too much and carried too much cash. To me this case, regardless of what exactly took place, is an object lesson in the perils of hard drugs.

1. If this were planned, one cannot later logically reconstruct the workings of an addled mind. The photo is insignificant.
2. The only cash we know was there for sure is the cash left under the driver's seat. As for the other elements, this scenario ....presupposes that they didn't intend to become lost.
3. Here, however, we might speculate about the briefcase, and possibly a scatterbrained druggie who didn't check the truck ....after killing three people.
4. Good point about the locked truck which would seem to mitigate against the initial use of force and/or surprise. Or the locking ....could have been a rote afterthought.
5. In the murderer's (or murderers') possession, at least for a time after the potential deed. If indeed they were present at all.

I also think this is the likely scenario. Don't forget the rambling letter from Sherilyn that was found too and the graffiti on the abandoned truck on the property that appears to be very much like the graffiti (by Sherilyn) at their home - both speak to a manic episode as well as tension in the relationship. I don't know that the murder/suicide was planned. I think it's also likely they were going for a walk to see more of the property, or just for leisure...then perhaps got lost. There seems to have already been some tension between them. Anyone who's ever been lost in the woods (heck, lost anywhere) - knows how tense the situation becomes. People argue, blame each other (I can see Sherilyn saying this was Bobby's fault for dragging them out there). Add to that mental illness and I don't think murder suicide is a stretch at all. They would've likely taken the gun with them (if I was surveying rural property alone, I'd take my gun!) It also explains why they left the dog behind (i.e. they weren't expecting to be gone long). If Madyson looks stressed in her last picture, it's probably because her parents had been bickering - affects the kids sometimes as much as the parents.

Only explanation of all of the facts IMO.

Can someone tell me what page the timeline is on please? Had all of this bookmarked before, but while having my laptop screen repaired, the IT people killed my hard drive. grr. Therefore, I lost all of that stuff when they replaced it. Thanks

It's on the first page of this thread....here you go...

Again, thanks a million to OkieGranny for doing all of this! :tyou: :yourock:
Okay, here's a slightly updated version. Added a few items but the timeline is STILL NOT COMPLETE. Feel free to offer any additions, subtractions, and/or corrections. If you want to add something, please provide a source. This is still very much a work in progress.

Thank you. Dallen for a refresh of the timeline.

I don't post a lot because I don't have much to add to the discussion. But I am puzzled as to the gun and the flower. Was there a gun found with the remains? No one seems to know. LE is not telling. If there was no gun, I have to discount the murder/suicide theory.

As to the flower found with the remains, I have a hard time believing that a flower would stay put for all these years with the remains. Just seems odd.

Thanks for listening to my concerns. Everyone here is doing a great job on keeping this story alive.

I agree, the flower does seem strange. But it seemed legit enough to make note of it in the report, so.... I don't know. No word on the gun, but my guess is it was not with the remains since it wasn't mentioned.

As, when the "dried flower" detail was published, I was in the middle of an extended hospital stay and hooked to a morphine drip (whee! btw), I don't remember anything about this odd little detail except the odd little detail itself. So what else do we know about it? Facts? Speculation? Dame Rumor's rumor mill? As Outdoors in Nature seems a perfectly acceptable place to find a dried flower, I'm prepared to write this off as being about as important as Madyson's picture, i.e., not at all, unless swayed otherwise by convincing argument. (Or bribed with a Hershey bar.)

Hit me with what you got, peeps.
