Not a smoker myself, but from experience I can safely say cigarette butts are one of the most overlooked pieces of evidence at crime scenes. (That and investigative persons' cigarette butts left at scenes...)

That's what I thought, Oriah. They probably never dreamed the found truck would turn out to belong to a missing family.

Hi,
I have tried to keep up with this fascinating case , reading whenever time permits... I do have a question, and forgive me if previous posts have covered it : is it known if either or both of the adults involved carried a weapon(s) ?

Yes, liz b. It has been reported Sherilyn has a .22 pistol, but...it is missing.

Generally, when a .22 caliber handgun and a briefcase possibly stuffed with cash go missing, the person who owned both of those items will be found to be in possession of them after the fact. Just sayin'! (And trying to prop up my "voluntary disappearance" theory.)

Yes. I wonder what other things may have been overlooked. Are the coordinates for the exact location of the truck on here somewhere? I'd be interested to see the topography on our GPS.

I am going with they were murdered for money and the reason who ever did it didn't get all of it was because the $39,000.00 was under the front seat. They would not have left the dog to die. If they were going to disappear to start a new life, they would have left the dog at home or taken it with them. I think the locals got them. Do we know if any thing was missing from the house that might look like they just packed up and lef?

Thank you. I wonder about him being without a firearm. How likely is it that an Okie would have an unlicensed gun ?

They're here somewhere. I will look for them.

Lol, I think pretty darn likely, and maybe one or two spares for good measure. But that's just my experience. ;)

In my dozen years here, I have noted a criminal underclass statewide, not just in the cities. The outlaw Pretty Boy Floyd was a hero here, and Bonnie and Clyde were thought better than the banks that foreclosed on farmers and ranchers during our Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. There is a great mistrust of authority, mainly because of its perceived corruption, among both lawbreakers and law-abiders. Because of this, it's tough to be an honest lawman in Oklahoma, though yes, we do have them. As for illegal weapons, I can only cite the fear many hold of being deprived somehow - by nefarious Washington, in the usual scenario - of their guns. It's a safe bet that, therefore, there are more unregistered weapons in Oklahoma than in comparably sized states.

oh,

i am all over the #1 reason being killed by family for money, i just ranked them from #5 to #1...i thought i was building the suspence. Hmmm, i will have to check to make sure that i am right here but i think the last time starlet spoke with bobby was on like the 21st of sept. But that was not abnormal, she would call for bobby and sherilyn would call block her and not let her talk to him. He would know his mother was calling and not call her back as well. I think colton was actually the last family member to talk to them, i believe he spoke with them multiple times in sept. According to phone bills. I will make sure this is correct tomorrow. As to the cadaver dogs, that is why i went down there i work closely with a sar group and i am going to try to get a little better area for them to come search, i just want to find a way to do it in a manageable way. Just saying...here you go have fun does not seem to work out so good. So my goal was to get some clearly defined sectors that i thought had highest probability and then focus on thoes areas. I know there were hellicopters going over a couple days ago searching some more, but the cover is already pretty thick, so i am not real hopeful. I am thinking that there are some dooozey cliffs off some of the switch backs going up the mountain that would be easy just to dump someone off into oblivion and they would not be seen unless you went way down. I am thinking if that is the case might have to wait till november to see with a chopper once the leaves had fallen. I know when they searched last fall the cover was still on the trees, and i know they did another search in the winter, but then the snow was covering. I told the folks that live on the mountain to keep their eyes on the sky for turkey voltures. I do not think the jamisons are on the 40 acres, but i think they are on the mountain, and thats like a 10-15 mile stretch to cover. Money was hidden under the drivers side seat. But honestly there was so much crap/ junk in the vehicle that it would take you a while to find anything. The most telling thing to me is there was a open almost full carton of smokes on the dash. Bobby and sherilyn smoked like a chimney...and smoker could tell you that you would not abandon a full carton of smokes. Thats just carzy talk. But i am a smoker, so maybe thats just me. Oh, also saw the 2 architecture magazines as well as the bank bag.
sherilyn (with one n) did not ever smoke. It was only bobby. Just fyi. See i can help

Niki, you've been nothing but, helpful! Please don't ever doubt that.

Thanks for clearing that up about Sherilynn.

Hi- I have kind of an unrelated question about Sherilyn but maybe you can answer it? Media reports her at 5' 7" and weighing 105lbs. Is that from the drivers license doc? or was that her actual last known weight? That's quite thin for a woman. Quite.

Hear hear! We weren't kidding when we said we approach private property carefully in OK, lol. Lots of shotguns get pointed at you. ;)

I will go even one step further and explain my thoughts here. If anyone followed the court proceedings then you will know where I am coming from here....Bobby Sr. DIED Dec. 16 2009 if you count the business days between then and when they setteled the estate it was 70 days, by the time you take out for christmas (eve), new years(eve), MLK day, and presidents day you are looking at 64 days to get this through probate. That is like lightening speed with lawyers and judges. I know Jack was trying to push that through as fast as possible (per starlet). I am gonna have to guess it is due to the $$ they owe to the county clerks office but that is speculation. Anywho...I dont think murder suicide ONLY for the reason that I think we would have found the bodies...very hard to bury yourself once your dead. And I dont think that they would have been that cruel to the dog, oh and I dont think Sherilyn would have left Marla (her sisters ashes) at home if it was her that was the culprit. The way the truck was parked tells us that they were back in the truck and leaving (the cell phone with the picture on it was plugged into the cigarette lighter) and the truck had moved from its original position. Thats how I know they didn't get lost or hurt up there...They made it back to the truck and were leaving. As far as the locals go, I guess I really don't have anything to rule them out other than I met 3 of them, and they were 3 of the nicest people I have ever met. They are still looking for this family, and are desparate for answers. But I am sure there are other crazyies up there that I didn't meet, that the Jamisons might have met on accident. I don't think voluntary dissapearance makes much since either, kinda the same reasons but I know they had been looking for money and I don't know why they would have done that if they were going to just leave it in the truck as a prop. And same thing with leaving the dog to die. Ok my brain hurts, I will think more later and add it.

Mtrooper, I cannot find any court records saying Jack and Donna owe money to the county. Could you fill us in where that information is coming from?
