Wait...I thought this doe was found in 1980. The card released has 1990 printed as the year she was found.

I hadn't seen your comment when I made mine(I hate how Tapatalk updates!). But that is a pretty big mistake.

Good catch about the card stating Doe was found in 1990 instead of 1980, hopefully the authorities will notice it too!

Yikes at that typo! Such a small distance between 8&9 but such a big difference.

I just noticed the tattoo and the first thing I noticed a pronounced letter C which makes the left part of the heart. Could it of been a letter C then later made into a heart? just a thought.

Lime was often used in cases of mass burials when a quick decomposition was desired. If you saw the movie "Amadeus", at the end of the movie, when Mozart dies he is thrown into a common grave and quicklime thrown on him.

But as mentioned, other types of lime have a preservative effect. The Scandinavians would preserve Cod Fish with lime and later soak it in water to make it edible. Lutefisk is a popular holiday dish.

It is certainly a potential clue regarding the perpetrator's MO, and potential link to other similar cases. For one thing, it would argue against a suicide or accidental death, since the use of lime is a very intentional thing.

Bumping this case up. The actual year was 1980, according to the original and a very recent update in the Doe network case file. It would seem that the Playing Card version contains a significant typo.

Yes, one needs to double check the playing card information. I don't think that's the first typo we've found.

____________________________________________________________

According to Doe, and Charley, Joyce left after an argument with her parents from her home and it is believed she ran off with a boyfriend.

She didn't have a brother named Jack. Also, the family says that they never learned the the name of the new boy she was seeing and supposedly ran off with. She left on a bus headed for Oklahoma, but was never seen getting off the bus there. The person at the bus station who sold her the ticket remembered her buying the ticket, but did not have any information on a male who may have been traveling with her.

It is possible that she made it to OK and was just unnoticed when she got off.
I haven't been able to find a second source to this quote.

Circumstances of Discovery
Fishermen found the victim's nude body on the bank of the North Canadian river, east of Jones. The body had been completely covered with lime to expedite decomposition, however the wrong lime was used and it actually helped preserve the body.

The victim is believed to have been dressed at the time of the murder as a dime was hit by a bullet and driven into her body. Evidence indicates that whoever shot her was walking or running towards her when the shots were fired. It does not appear that she was sexually assaulted.

It is possible she was killed by a local biker gang.

She is known as "Lime Lady."
