A judge has ordered the suspect in the murders and dismemberment of four men in Okmulgee to pay damages.

Charges against Joseph Kennedy filed on December 5 for the deaths of four men in Okmulgee in October.

The filing also alleges Kennedy was seen leaving in a different shirt and coming back to the area in a pickup truck around 1 a.m. on the 10th of October and pulling the truck to a vacant lot by the scrap yard around 4 a.m. He's allegedly seen driving the truck onto Sharp Road about two hours later.

It will be interesting to see what his defense argument is going to be. I just worry if anything is doubted in this case justice won;t be served. I mean with all respect to the deceased, but, this case has bizarre and confusing elements to it. Right from the beginning, that shouldn't be overlooked. IMO overlooking those aspects could miss something that could be critical to the case. I'm hoping they aren't overlooked.

This is from the civil case. It's a good read if you have an interest in court proceedings.

Kennedy didn't answer the plaintiffs in the allowed amount of time, so the judge issued a default judgment against him. While incarcerated in Florida, the OK judge tied up all of his money and assets so he couldn't even hire an atty. Maybe he could have hand-written a letter. He made a lot of interesting points in this motion.

IMO the civil case is a mess. It seems like it might become problematic if he's kept in jail with no right to an attorney. His next court date with the new judge is 03/01.

Attorney For Joe Kennedy Argues He Shot 4 Okmulgee Men In Self-Defense

Joe Kennedy's attorney argued Kennedy shot the four men in Okmulgee in October, in self-defense. This new information came out Tuesday during a bond hearing for Kennedy.

Kennedy’s attorney said Kennedy was having a problem with theft at his scrap yard and had contacted the sheriff’s office at least 23 times for help.

At least one of the victims, Mark Chastain, had a weapon and Kennedy killed him and the other three victims in self-defense, the attorney said.

However, District Attorney Carol Iski told the judge there's no evidence of self-defense. She argued that people who shoot in self-defense, stay and call police. She said self-defense doesn't mean you shoot the men in the back, dismember them, and go to Florida.

Okmulgee Police Chief Joe Prentice testified and said all of the men had been shot in the back. There's no reason to believe the four men and Kennedy knew each other beforehand, Chief Prentice said.

Prentice said based on how a shoe was found on the ground, they believed at least one of the men was running away when shot.

There are some court dates after that article came out. In the amended temporary injunction, they allowed his wife to carry on business with stipulations. The motion to dismiss is interesting.

JK was granted a motion to continue his preliminary hearing. His case was reassigned from Capitol Trial Tulsa to Capitol Trial Norman so additional time is needed for review. His new hearing date is Aug. 1, 2023 @ 2 pm.

Thanks Frosty, no matter what the circumstances, the victims and their innocent families, deserve acknowledgment of the horrific crimes done to their loved ones. I hope they somehow know that some strangers are watching the case and want to see justice for all of them.
