Jessica said she last spoke to her husband — which whom she has two kids ages 3 and 1 — by phone on Sunday at 5:24 p.m., asking him if she needed to buy dog food.

Jessica, who noted that the men regularly frequent a local scrap yard, said that Mark was supposed to watch their daughter on Monday while she started a new job.

"He would never miss anything that has to do with his children," Jessica said. "He didn't just up and run off and go on a man trip."

So they frequented the more local salvage yard. Hope LE are finding that owner ok and asking him if they made it there that night...one of their phones did.

Any locals know how thick the mud is in the river the remains were found in?

There was a guy in TX that jumped into a river and got stuck in the mud and drowned a while back: How a Texas man was killed by quicksand on the San Antonio River last year

If they all four jumped in at the same time legs first and got stuck in the mud up to their waste with their head below the surface of the water, they’d be in a heap of trouble.

If two jumped in and became distressed, the other two may have jumped in to try and save them.

I know it sounds crazy that four grown men could all drown right next together, but it reminds me of the family in California that died of heat exhaustion while on a hike -- their bodies were found within yards of each other. Accidental drowning is the likely CoD given the circumstances and what we know so far, IMO.

EBM: if their cell phones really are missing and went in a different direction, that would throw a kink in accidental drowning theory.

I think they were dumped off the bridge, and maybe weighted down as well, the water was probably warm andpretty shallow, and the bodies naturally bloated causing various limbs to emerge up out of the water or maybe partial torso's exposed to water and sunlight throughout the week. Maybe tbe bikes will be located in the river ad well

I suspect this will not be the case once LE and ME sort everything out. I will be absolutely floored if they were alive when they went in the water. I mean, its possible, but I don't think very likely.

Now I am confused. The "initial" report said they left around 8pm. The missing posters said they had not been seen since 5pm. Jessica says she last spoke to her husband at 5:24pm, which might be in keeping with they left at 5 pm or with he called before they left.

Leaving to bike ride after dark at 8pm is odd. Leaving at 5pm is only a little odd. Does anyone know why the last time anyone saw them was 5PM and yet LE believes they started the bike journey at 8PM?

Mark’s wife, Jessica Chastain, told 2 News he parked his beloved, red car at a house owned by the Chastain family on Sunday. It's where the four men would often hang out.

Okmulgee investigators were searching for the men in a junkyard off Highway 75, north of Schulter, on Wednesday. It’s where police say Mark’s cell phone pinged last.

“They don’t go far - never," Chastain said.

I feel so bad for those two small children and all of the family members of Mark, Billy, Mike, and Alex, assuming they are the four that were found. May they RIP. It's so odd to hear of four grown men disappearing together. I hope we get more news soon. MOO

Update from Chief Prentice 10/15/2022:

We have received no identifications from the medical examiner's office. They continue to work to identify the remains, but I am told it will likely be tomorrow or later. Officers continue to sift through digital evidence already obtained and await phone records from search warrants, while we wait for identification.

A large part of any investigation is written reports and the investigation into the missing men has been ongoing for almost a week and has been so fluid, officers have had little time to formally document things. We are using this time to begin that process.

Additional updates will be given at the appropriate time.

Just thinking out loud.

A few reasons I can think of for riding a bike instead of taking a vehicle:
1. Exercise
2. Intoxicated and don’t want to risk a DUI
3. Needing to be quiet/low-key/stealthy
4. Being able to go places that cars can’t go

Edit:typo

bolding mine.
Security cameras showed them riding their bikes, under street -- or yard -- lights ?

So, its going to take awhile to identify them. Interesting. They could not have been dead that long....even if they were in the water and had bloated, you'd think they could identify them pretty easily. Makes me wonder if they were chopped up? I guess some animals could have got to them first, but I dunno. That doesn't seem likely with them still in the water vs. on the waters edge.

Anyone know what type of local animals/critters/water things that would be interested in decomposed bodies?

I was wondering if they all had too much to drink and all jumped off the bridge for a drunken dare, but looking at the photo of the bridge and river, it seems way too high to even do that when drunk!

Plus if they DID jump, surely they didn't jump with their bicycles too! The bikes would've been left up on the bridge.
MOO.

Why wouldn't they identify them from DNA?

Are all their families present/living..?
