One thing (of the many) that haunts me about this case is the notion that Rev. Daniels's body was purposefully staged in a cruciform position. If this is in fact the case, the investigation might lead away one way; if it is simply the direction her body came to fall, and the scene was not staged as some bizarre anti-religious outcry, it leads another.

Vernon Geberth, a homicide expert and author, believes the killer may have posed Daniel's body like a crucifixion out of anger or retribution. Geberth said the details will be important to this investigation.

NEWS 9 spoke with Vernon Geberth, an expert who has written dozens of books on all aspects of homicide, and asked why a killer would take such steps.
"When an offender removes the clothing from a crime scene and then adds chemicals to the crime scene, he or she is obviously looking to thwart the investigation by preventing authorities from having access to the evidence," Geberth said.
However, earlier this week the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation told NEWS 9 that Pastor Daniels body was "posed," meaning it was moved after death.
"The presentation of a body, especially that of clergy person, in a manner suggestive of a crucifixion would lead me to believe the offender has focused his attack on some underlying anger or retribution," Geberth said.
But the homicide author said investigators won't know that until they make an arrest.
"The immediate problem that I see for criminal investigators is that they're not privy to the offenders motivation or his thinking pattern," Geberth said. "In all honesty, the devil will be in the details."

I feel your pain, wfgodot.. I became involved in missing/murdered cases due to a botched abduction investigation by our State LEA; GBI. There were a lot of positive changes in the GBI over the past five years due to the Meredith Emerson abduction investigation.. They've learned that awareness and time is critical, and to use all available resources..

Other than the staging of the body. What else is haunting you about Pastor Carol Daniels' case, wfgodot?

The whole of that early morning from the time the killer entered that little church. Everything. The sunrise that day, the shadows of night falling away to reveal a world imperfect as it ever was and perhaps always will be.

OSBI's callous treatment of Carol Daniels's mother (OSBI rep said "she has our number" if she wanted to know how the investigation was going - instead of vowing to do better to keep her in the loop if new facts about the investigation became known).

The feeling that the crime is solved but an arrest will never be made, because that's the way owed favors are sometimes paid back in the state of Oklahoma.

The basic fear of one who loves justice but sometimes believes it's all just an illusion.

I posted the article in an earlier post about the .38 cal firearm found in the park by the owners of the Anardarko Daily News, on the day of the fire. I've been communicating with the owners daughter, who is now the editor of the ADN.
Yesterday, I sent all the info to the Anardarko police department, OK, for them to digest and they will forward it to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Thought this would be the best route to assure that it gets to the proper investigator/s.
The APD will also be able to re-investigate the .38 firearm found by Carla's parents and handed over to APD Officer Pendarvis, the day of the fire...Sgt. Charles Pendarvis, although not the lead investigator on the case is still with the Anardarko Police Department.

Yesterday evening we were talking about this and it dawned on me that it was mentioned in the Daily Oklahoman. When Officer Pendarvis claimed the gun, he told my mother it was the gun they were looking for from the Friday evening fight at the bar that is located across the street south from us. (Not to be confused with the bar next door to us where the fire started) Of course, the story is wrong. It was found across the street south from our office next to a parking lot on a bit of grass. There is a large 3 story office building that has a large parking lot and that is where the bar patrons park. They have a small grassy area where they have a gazebo.

Four Oklahoma prisoners escape through jail shower

The Caddo County Sheriff's Office has put out an alert for Dylan Ray Three Irons, 21; Prime Tounwin Brown, 23; Anthony James Mendonca, 24; and Triston Cheadle, 32. KOKH reports that the men were last seen at a car wash approximately one block from the detention center where they made their escape Saturday night.

Mendonca had been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest. Three Irons had been convicted of a probation violation, and Brown was set to do time for second-degree burglary.

EDIT: I cannot believe that I forgot to write this! I am praying so hard for the Pastor's family. Every murder is a horrible tragedy, but someone who gives so selflessly to her community and whose murder was so invasive and cruel is another level. I am so sorry that this happened to such a wonderful lady, and OK could use more than a few souls like hers.

Sent the additional info learned from the Discovery ID Dark Minds episode on IK to CM @ the Anardarko Daily News and asked if there was an update on her investigation. Her response was that there has been no new news...

About noon on Aug. 23, 2009, police found Daniels mutilated body inside the Christ Holy Sanctified Church on E First Street. Even though she had few regular congregants left, Daniels, who lived in Oklahoma City, still made the drive every Sunday to Anadarko to minister to anyone who might drop by the tiny weatherworn building with the large black cross hanging above the front door.

As details of her killing leaked out, concern in the community grew. Daniels had been stabbed multiple times, her head nearly severed, her hair lit on fire. The killing didn't appear random. The motive didn't appear to be robbery. The killer posed her body as if crucified, took her clothes and sprayed a chemical to destroy DNA evidence.

The then-prosecutor called it one of the most brutal and horrific crime scenes he'd even seen...

Some folks think that Robert Robinson; the eyewitness that saw the perp leave Pastor Carol Daniel's' church the day of her murder may have lied.. I understand that eye witnesses are the least reliable source of info/evidence in murder investigations. Especially when they are admittedly inebriated. Although over a week before coming forward, Mr. R's explanation of the events that day seem very plausible to me.

A free meal by a TV News crew in exchange for info, to an alcoholic, would not have been at the top of his priority list of needs or wants, imo. Mr. R, likely had spent many days & nights in the clinker and would not have been on the best of terms with police. Nor would he have trusted them, no more than LE would have trusted him or his info, imo.

We are all very aware that the last known person to see a homicide victim alive, is' considered the primary suspect in the murder investigation... Not a predicament that you would want to find yourself in without a very solid alibi. Mr. R's delay in providing the info about the perp walking out the front door and other additional info may be plausibly explained away due to alcohol blackout memory interference, imo.

If Pastor Daniels normally left the church's front door unlocked and it was locked when her two elderly members showed up for church service. Then it would be reasonable to conclude that the perp had laid in wait and locked the door when Pastor Daniels' entered.

IK, if responsible, was somewhat nocturnal and would have likely entered the Church under the cloak of darkness. I can't explain the lack of video footage of the security camera except to say that IK was considered to be a very calculating & cagey Stealth Predator. IK was actively hunting his prey and committing brazen bank robberies and murders all across the USA for over a decade and half, yet was not on the FBI BAU2 VICAP radar either. Long gone are the days of FBI BSU pioneers Roger L. Depue, John Douglas, and Robert Ressler, imo..
