A source tells News 9 the investigation has been ongoing for several years. Now, a grand jury will weigh the evidence to determine whether a suspect should be indicted.
This development could ease unrest in the small Caddo County community. There are growing rumblings of discontent over the arrests of possible suspects that never panned out.

The main suspect, Denise Kay Cooper, 55, of Anadarko, died of cancer Feb. 21. The suspect, who also was known as Darnell Cooper, spent time in prison for methamphetamine distribution and had a criminal history that included assault.
She was still on probation at the time of her death.

Grand jurors may be trying to determine if the slaying began as a robbery and took a bizarre turn because of drug use by the perpetrators. Rumors have circulated in Anadarko for years that Denise Cooper was linked to the killing.

So they think Cooper acted alone?
I actually personally recognize one of those witness names...Her son, Jimmy Cooper, testified briefly before the grand jury Tuesday. He acknowledged to The Oklahoman as he left that the grand jury wanted to know about his mother.
One witness, Dustin Tofpi, declined to comment after he left. The second witness, Kevin I. Mahan, 42, was before the grand jury only briefly, an indication he refused to answer questions about the slaying.

The police also said they believe the incident is isolated and the citizens are in no further danger.
This crime should never leave our thoughts.
