I came across a local news article this morning that I thought may be pertinent (may also very well be completely unrelated, but in the interest of researching every possible tip, this still felt relevant enough).

Hillsboro Police may have found human remains in landfill

At this time, there is nothing linking the disappearance of AW to the discovery of possible human remains at the Hillsboro landfill.

I will do my best to keep tabs on this particular discovery, one way or another. Will be refreshing this news page often, but it looks as though they expect an update sometime Monday or Tuesday (as Monday is a holiday).

Wow it sure seems like if it were a prop or educational tool they would have known that pretty quickly, right? The fact that it’s been almost a week and they haven’t said that makes me think it is indeed human remains. Probably trying to ID it. There are so many people it could be!

Emily Gerbensky-Parker is currently in custody.

Edilma Morales Ramirez was thankfully found safe.

Sherry Wellwood’s car was found pretty far from Hilsboro, but could still be possible.

I haven’t commented on this case yet. I’m a Portland native and do a lot of hiking. When I saw that they were “hiking” in North Plains, I instantly knew something was off.

ETA: I looked into the case with ZB, and the article date says “updated Jan 10,2019;posted Jan 15th, 2010” Looks like he served 5 years for this crime. Did she move back in with him after? I’m so confused!

Trevor Macy (Misty Watterson's brother in law) said that LE interviewed Zack Baslington and searched his property extensively. It's still an odd coincidence.

I keep wondering why LE stopped searching in North Plains. Did they have more evidence that proved she was taken from there? They called off the search so quickly. If they did have that kind of evidence, why not share it with the family? They are doing multiple exhaustive searches each week with nothing to show for it.

I personally don’t believe she’s in North Plains. I can’t think of a single place I would hike in North Plains. I think she may have been there earlier in the day and it was a good alibi, but I believe she is somewhere else. Lots of woods to hide a body not too far from North Plains. Highway 26 that goes to the coast is full of wooded areas. Highway 6, too. I would love to believe she’s still alive, but you don’t go hiking in North Plains and yo suggest that is a major red flag.

This article is behind a paywall, but clarifies that:
Bunday said an employee at the Waste Management facility off Southeast Minter Bridge Road discovered possible human remains in the garbage sorting area. Detectives were called to investigate shortly after, he said.

That sounds like recently disposed of. I wonder how long stuff sits in that sorting area? Also a bit worried they aren't calling it a body.

If this turns out to be the case...it's ridiculous to worry the public for nothing. It makes me think it's unfortunately human remains. I doubt LE would needlessly worry the public. I would think they are buying time to perhaps gather evidence (wire tap maybe?).

I was checking to see if there is a medical school nearby. They do accept body donations at the school in Portland if I understood correctly, OHSU. So, I suppose, it could be a student's poor disposal choice for their study materials.

If it's bones, they'd have to test to see whether it's been chemically preserved or prepared before they could see if it was legitimate.

I'm pretty sure any crime scene tech can tell organic remains from fake, but it is worded carefully as it could conceivably be an 'authorized cadaver' and it's for the ME to decide/confirm. Perhaps it is a skull or ribcage that has already bleached.

There are procedures and paperwork for that, not that it would stop someone from being stupid, of course. I hope they fast track the dna analysis for Allyson's sake if they can't match it to a donor.
