@Bigfoot1977, Thanks so much for checking up there. Wish there was family and friends that could tell us if there is a spot up there that had significance to her. If not I would think either lost ( that's a ways out ) isn't it ? Or had a medical incident and was disoriented. Be careful out there... Dad to say there's a whole new set of dangers out in the woods. Thanks so much appreciate your efforts !!

Sorry to be so long winded lol...

But after this last trip I feel like we need alot more people to search, it's just way to much vast terrain for one man to cover.

I will keep trying regardless but a few more people would help greatly.

That being said no one should come up there unless they are in good health, physically capable and armed. It's very dangerous even in good weather.

I am not afraid to come upon Sherry no matter the conditions as I have years and years of security experience and have found 3 deceased persons before during my duty in that line of work but I know that part is definitely not for everyone.

I have found missing persons, stolen vehicles/property before doing the security thing when I lived in California....it just requires time & diligence and repeated efforts to locate anyone or anything.

I only made it one mile in on BLM 37-6-36 so there is at least a other 1.5-2 miles of that road to check when the weather gets better not counting all the side areas off the road.

Also I noted at least one seasonal creek down hill from "Morgan's Buckhorn" area with what sounded like a waterfall or drop. This area needs to be checked. And by looking at the maps there are a few trails and possibly 2 ponds to check that are off BLM 37-6-36. This will take time but I will keep trying.

I may reach out to an old security friend who lives on the coast but he has a legit 4X4 vehicle, very avid Hunter and physically I know he can handle himself and helping me search on foot. Also might consider riding my 4 wheeler in as that may help me get past some of these messed up road conditions.

Give me time and more will follow. As a wise man once said "If not me, then who?" Peace & blessings ya'll hope we can get some closure for Sherry & her family.

I know we have some WSers up that way we can try to enlist their help ! Maybe some SARS groups up there would be very helpful as well.
There have been an awful lot of missing cases lately with the vehicle found in out of the way places but no sign of the driver. Am not generally a conspiracy theorist but there's been a lot all of the nation. All these people were alone in their vehicles. When you can please tell us what you think about these odd disappearances
TIA MOO

I made a short video on my hike but j can't figure out how to post it on here...I am rather new on here & not that tech savvy tbh... Any help or tips feel free to inbox me?

Well I really think it's a case by case basis. Sometimes people are wandering away from the vehicle and tragedy strikes. Sometimes these cars are being ditched after the person met with foul play.

In this case the black snow at the tail pipe indicates she was camping/sleeping out of her car....it wasn't ditched by a perp cause he wouldn't hang out in there for a few days .....

But I personally never rule anything out.....especially in these mountains. I follow David Paulides and the missing 411 cases. I also have seen weird things in these mountains especially at night but I don't wanna post about it and seem crazy lol

I'm basically posting the same thing here as I posted in the Ericka Hogg thread since I believe it is relevant. Her thread can be found here: OR - OR - Erika Renee Hogg, 39, Josephine County, 17 May 2018

Bigfoot found the thread and bumped it and I happened to run into it because of that. There is another middle aged woman missing about 4-5 miles as the crow flies from where Sherry's vehicle was found! 6-7 months apart!

Here is a map that shows the two locations to put it into better perspective(click for more detail):

((Bigfoot)), thank you so much for your efforts and detailed posts updating us on your searches. The scenery is amazingly beautiful!!

Be careful out there. We certainly don't want a "Bigfoot is missing" thread. :D:pPardon me for lecturing, partly because I know nothing about hiking (never have hiked except to the kitchen! :p:oops:), but I've read often that one should never hike alone. Your hikes worry me. :) Please be safe!

If I don't come back you better bring the swat team.

I was a boy scout for years trained in outdoor survival with nothing. Once slept in these woods for 3 nights with no food or anything to train.

I hunted these mountains alone and with others back in the 90s when my family moved here for bear, mountain lion, bobcat, still have trophy size animals....that was before they changed all the hunting laws in Oregon.....but you get my point I have literally seen it all.

I no longer hunt in my peaceful older age but still hike all the time alone for exercise. I am legally armed at all times. Multiple phones ...yes even ones that work up there.....

Trust me if I don't come back....we got serious problems.

Wondering if she might have stumbled into a grow or other operation by accident, the type of place where visitors are NOT welcomed?

Def not out of the realm of possibilities but TBH they aren't doing those at that elevation.... She would have to walk on foot a few hours in the elements back down the mountain she was on to get to any.

Any illegal ones on BLM would not be where she was.....simply to much hunter/outdoorsman activity which leads to alot of traffic from armed good old boys.....

I have some knowledge of this from my previous occupation. The illegal cartel grows are out there but not on this heavily traveled of an area and more towards the state line with Cali and along the coastal mountains which are if you can believe this...even more remote.

But nothing is off the table yet without more evidence one way or another

Well I am honestly stunned that I was mentioned I ain't doing any of this for praise just seems like the least I could do. But thank you to Pommy and Tricia seems awesome.

I am new to WS and all this online forum stuff and never knew it existed until I Google searched some of the missing cases in my county. TBH I only did that after hearing a Vanished podcast about a guy missing not far from where I live. That made me more curious and somehow I found Sherry's case and so many more. I kinda feel like you open Pandora's box on these things.

But the only way I ever helped solve anything in the past is one step at a time and alot of attention to details.

As my free time allows I will try to do more. Gotta start somewhere. I respect LE and only wanna help my father was 32 yrs Capt in CHP. So he taught me alot. But he also taught me that LE is way over burdened with fresh major crimes, lack of enough $ and manpower and resources to cover all these cases. So especially in a cold missing persons case it seems that they could use help from public/citizens/volunteers. I can only start locally but am going to look more into this.

I found some guys on YouTube who are like master divers and they donate their time, equipment, expertise to dive for LE in counties where they don't have the resources and these guys find vehicles, weapons and recover missing people that way.

That got me to thinking we need more people doing that also on land and doing YouTube videos/channels to make others aware. How many people go for walks/hikes? Well if we get people to take a little time to do that with a purpose and in areas where people have gone missing....it increase our chances greatly of getting some families out there answers.

Anyways that's just IMO...I will just keep trying.

So I did a search for Josephine County Oregon here on WS and started reading some things that popped up.

Please search this:

Mary Rodermund

Now on that thread some one posted a missing persons remains being found at a place called "Holcomb Peak". This peak in Josephine County Oregon is less than 6-7 miles from where Ericka was last seen and a mile or two at most from where Sherry Wellwood's car was found.

I know we have like a serious time gap here but what are the chances these females go missing and or female remains are found all in this small not very populated or even that well known of an area??

I am going to seriously have to do more research and see just how many missing persons and/or remains are being found in this area over the years.

I have to wonder do we have an old perp using this area since it's so remote? Or other weirdly related circumstances? Or just all coincidence?

Hey just wanted to post that I have not given up ... Just got stalled with all the Rona' 19 stuff going down. The weather has been nice and warming to the point I should be able to do another hike all along the BLM road and look around hopefully with little to no snow. I shall post updates as soon as I have them.

Covid 19 and west coast chaos has caused major delays in my ability to do much at this point... I keep checking local news for any updates or signs from the JCSO that they are gonna search more but have not seen a anything.... I have to go on a trip the next few days but when I return next week I am just gonna have to go hike it more myself I shall update soon.
