"Sara Packer, accused in the rape and murder of her 14-year-old adopted daughter Grace Packer, is on suicide watch at the Bucks County Jail, her lawyer said Tuesday.

Attorney Keith J. Williams said Packer is "devastated" by the allegations. Williams also questioned the credibility of Packer's boyfriend, Jacob Sullivan, who is also charged in the death and allegedly confessed to the crime and implicated Packer."

Defense attorneys gonna do what defense attorneys gonna do.

Color me less than impressed by SP's "devastation"

Devastated ... really? She should feel suicidal, how anyone can do what she did and live with themselves is beyond me.

Now the hearing that was scheduled for Friday is tentatively for Feb 24. We always get more information from these hearings, but I'm almost afraid to hear anything more than what has already been reported. It has been an overload of horrible news of what Grace endured throughout her lifetime. No child should be left to die in a hot attic closet after being beaten, brutally raped, drugged, and gagged and bound, strangled, then to be chopped up and thrown in the wild. Then we are told this adopted mother is on suicide watch, really? Who cares.

What about the credibility of his client going and buying a saw and blades? I think she bought the medications to kill her daughter. Jacob Sullivan, Smackob Sullivan..... she did things on her own that will convict her.

Keith J. Williams also says in this article: "It makes very little sense to me that he would claim to be falsely accused in his suicide note, but as soon as he doesn't die, he's confessing to anyone who will listen," Williams said.

Makes perfect sense to me. Packer and Sullivan knew the jig was up and wanted to go out on their terms which was misleading the world that they would rather be dead than be "falsely accused" of this crime. Once the suicide attempt failed, Sullivan had nothing to lose by confessing. In fact, by implicating Packer and stating "I know it was wrong" he may have even thought he was racking up mitigating circumstances points for his impending legal case.

I have been talking through this case with Mrs. F (I fancy she's akin to Mrs. Columbo). :)

Mrs. F brought up questions about the timeline of the 911 calls made by Katherine Albright on Fri Dec 30 2016 as described in the charging documents available at https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3258309/Criminal-complaint-charging-Sara-Packer-with.pdf

Katherine Albright called 911 at about 328pm to report that she had found Jacob Sullivan unresponsive "in the bedroom". Sullivan was transported to Abington Hospital where he allegedly confessed, implicating Sara Packer.

Katherine Albright AGAIN called 911 at about 726pm to report that, after 911 emergency responders left the home with Jacob Sullivan, Albright subsequently found Sara Packer "unresponsive in the bathroom of the home. Albright advised that she had transported Sara Packer to Abington Hospital Emergency Room in her private vehicle".

This series of events is very peculiar, and leads to many questions...

1) Why did Albright call 911 AFTER she had already transported Sara Packer to Abington Hospital in her private vehicle? What would be Albright's motivation to "advise" 911 Emergency responders of acts that had already transpired, and which required no emergency response?

2) At what time did Albright arrive at Abington Hospital Emergency with Sara Packer? The charging documents do not note this, but do note "medical records" from Abington Hospital to answer other questions. Presumably the arrival time of Sara Packer would be in the Abington medical records as well.

3) Why was Sara Packer found unresponsive in the bathroom while Jacob Sullivan was found unresponsive in the bedroom? Abington Hospital medical records noted that Sara Packer said to hospital personnel that she had entered into "a suicide pact" with Sullivan. That leads me to think Packer and Sullivan might be found together, in the same bed or room. Was Sara Packer regretting her suicide decision and looking for first aid in the bathroom? Or does Sara Packer being found in the bathroom have no significance?

4) I believe we have only Katherine Albright's word about the timeline and events between the 911 first responders taking Sullivan out of the home to Abington Hospital, and the time that Albright delivered Sara Packer to the same hospital. Was Sara Packer unresponsive on the bathroom floor? If so, how long was Packer lying unresponsive on the bathroom floor? Would a "suicide pact" suggest that Packer and Sullivan started their attempts at the same time, and with the same means?

5) With only Katherine Albright's word about the timeline and events between the 911 first responders taking Sullivan out of the home to Abington Hospital, and the time that Albright delivered Sara Packer to the same hospital, the events during this time could be significantly, even completely different from our assumptions or understanding.

I keep thinking about Katherine Albright's 726pm call to 911 Emergency. Why would Albright do what appears to be a bizarre and unnecessary action like that?

I find that really odd too David. It was reported that both JS & SP were in there for a drug overdose, but it was SP that told the hospital that they had a suicide pact. It was also noted that JS was critical, and he was in the hospital for at least a week per the charging doc. Oddly, it does not say the same about SP. Do you think that after JS was taken out by EMS, SP then decided to take the pills?

After reviewing the charging doc, what really stuck out to me was that the confession JS gave matched up in the timeline that they found receipts for the drugs and saw/extra blades leading back to SP.

From information provided in the charging doc.

https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/3258309/Criminal-complaint-charging-Sara-Packer-with.pdf

JS said the morning of July 8 he & SP drove Grace in her pjs to new residence and took her to 3rd floor attic, struck her in the face, brutally raped her (after taking viagra) while SP watched sexually aroused. SP left to get pills to sedate her. They gave her the pills, she vomited, they gave her more then bound & gagged her and stuffed her in a hot closet in the attic to die and left.

July 8 SP's debit card was used at Target to purchase pills.

........

Detectives went to the Quakertown residence on Oct 11 and observed SP, JS, Grace's brother and the other girlfriend there. They entered information into NAMUS.

According to JS, mid Oct. LE came to residence for a follow up. SP & JS got nervous & moved her body to a 2nd floor bathroom and dismembered her body with a saw SP bought. They place her in 2 totes in JS car and drove north at SP direction taking back roads then discarded her remains.

A receipt for a bow saw and 2 blades was found with a Oct 16 date of purchase. LE got a video from the store showing SP purchasing the blades.

Maybe SP got sick and threw up some of the pills. Explaining her being in the bathroom and less serious condition.

"Sara Packer's attorney, Keith Williams, said his defense strategy will revolve around Packer's past.

"She has a long history of mental health treatment from a young age. She also has a history of being manipulated by men. That will come into play at trial," Williams said."

^^^

Based only on this, my guess is the defense is not so much "I didn't do it" as "I did it but I deserve leniency bc I was scared/abused/manipulated into it."

Thanks, BUF for following up, and adding important points:

1) JS was in critical condition, hospitalized for at least a week after his suicide attempt. The consequences of SP's suicide attempt are not noted. From this, we might infer that SP's suicide attempt had fewer life threatening consequences than JS. If so, why? Was SP "faking" her suicide on the chance that JS would eliminate himself?

2) Only SP added the "suicide pact" claim... to the best of our knowledge, not JS. The "suicide pact" claim from SP was uttered later, after JS admission to Abington Hospital and after KA "discovers" SP on the bathroom floor. Minutes later? Hours later?

The time of admission of SP (accompanied by KA in KA's private vehicle) to Abington Hospital would be good to know.

Do we know if KA accompanied 911 emergency responders to Abington Hospital with JS? And then KA returned to the home to "discover" SP on bathroom floor? Or did KA never leave the home and 911 responders transported JS without KA?

Lastly... KA transported SP to Abington Hospital ER in her private vehicle. This strongly suggests that SP was able to stand and/or walk. Unless we think KA singlehandedly transported a comatose SP out of the home, placed her in the car, etc. Not easy to do without a 2nd person, a stretcher, etc.

Curiouser and curiouser. David

i think SP made a non serious attempt not counting on JS attempt not working and CERTAINLY not counting on him confessing all.

Oooh - great questions, I had not previously picked up on the strangeness of some of Albright's narrative. I re-read this part of the charging document and it is confusing once you break everything down. IMO, this is exactly why Albright needs to be further investigated/questioned - there is just no way she doesn't know more about Packer and Sullivan's disturbing dynamic with Grace. I'm not suggesting Albright knew of "the plan" per se (though I don't rule out the possibility) but at minimum, she had to have known that Grace did not run away from home back in July and she had to have known that Grace's absence was an enormous red flag.

If she indeed has a long history of mental health issues then why in world was she considered for both fostering and adoption?

Yet she was able to function as a supervisor overseeing adoptions for the County? Umm, don't they check that kind of stuff out? What about her own qualification as a foster parent? Nothing discovered there either? I call BS!!!

SP wasn't manipulated by men. She was the manipulator. She knew how to work the system, just as she's doing now. IMO
