Hi. I live in the area and it has been very quiet here. No news at all. The restaurant's Facebook page did send out a thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers and said they hope to open in the near future.

Looking at google maps, to me the most obvious route that would place large amounts of mud on the bottom of the car during the disposal of a body would be Stephenson St and the ponds along it, or continuing onto Coxton Road to the rail bridge on the Susquehanna River. I don't see disposing of a body in the Lackawanna when the Susquehanna is so close, wider and deeper.

The Lackawanna County district attorney’s office has the results of DNA tests from evidence collected in the search for missing Old Forge restaurant owner Robert Baron.

Shane Scanlon, the district attorney, declined to discuss what those results are until his office has a chance to speak with Baron’s family, he said.

“We have a meeting scheduled with the family next week to discuss portions of the case and testing,” Scanlon said.

Today marks two months since Baron, the 58-year-old owner of Ghigiarelli’s on South Main Street, was last seen. His son, 30-year-old Bobby Baron, reported him missing to police when he learned his father was neither responding to text messages nor in the restaurant or upstairs apartment.

Since then, police have found evidence that suggests Baron may have been assaulted in the restaurant. The discovery of a tooth and a bloody afghan raised their suspicions.

Police also found Baron’s 2006 Hyundai Elantra parked in the 100 block of Howard Street a few days later. The car had “excessive mud” on the tires and undercarriage, along with what appeared to be blood stains in four locations.

Scanlon said detectives from his office and officers from the Old Forge Police Department are still following up on tips.

Meanwhile, Baron’s family continues waiting for answers. A page set up to increase the cash reward for information had garnered more than $2,000 and hundreds of shares on social media by Friday evening.

“It’s certainly difficult,” Baron’s brother, Mark Baron, said. “His daughters and son are the ones who are struggling the most. They really miss their dad.”

this case really bothers me for some reason. every time i log on I check back here to see if there has been any update.

It seems like such a dead end, how can someone seemingly disappear like this... it sounds like there was a fight from the reports, with a tooth and blood evidence, surely someone heard or saw something.

Signs posted around Old Forge seeking information about the disappearance of borough businessman Robert Baron carry a simple message, part statement and part plea:

Six months after the 58-year-old Ghigiarelli&#8217;s owner vanished after what investigators said appeared to have been a violent assault inside his South Main Street restaurant, a criminal investigation by borough police and the Lackawanna County district attorney&#8217;s office is active and ongoing.

Baron&#8217;s family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to his whereabouts, advertised on the signs distributed in the borough and, most recently, on a billboard along the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Moosic.

Yes they did in fact later indicate that the body that was found was not Baron and that they would not give the identity until the family was notified.
