Bucks County law enforcement officials hope Texas scientists can shed more light on a human bone found on an island that is a stop on a popular Upper Bucks summer tourist attraction.

The bone initially was reported to New Jersey State Police earlier this month after it was found on Resolution Island in the Delaware River between Tinicum and Frenchtown, New Jersey, according to Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub.

The private, 11-acre island is owned by a Delaware River tubing company and is considered the halfway point along its route.

A person floating down the river in an inflated tube found the bone on the island, which is also known as Adventure Island, on Aug. 5. A search of the island did not locate additional bones, Weintraub said.

Weintraub did not know what kind of bone was found, but a preliminary examination determined it may have been submerged for an extended period of time.

Tuber finds human bone on Delware River island in Tinicum

Aug. 1, 2020: An unidentified human bone was found on Resolution Island by a mother with her daughter who were tubing in the Delaware River between Tinicum and Frenchtown, New Jersey. The private, 11-acre island is owned by a Delaware River tubing company and is considered the halfway point along its route. The mother took the bone home and tried to identify it. Upon thinking it may be human she called the police who picked it up and transported it to the Bucks County Forensic Facility.

The bone was found in Tinicum, Upper Bucks County, Pa, which is very far from Tinicum in Delaware County Pa. which is where Marcus Hook is located.
Tinicum Township, Bucks County and Resolution Island are significantly upstream on the Delaware River from the Tinicum marsh and township area in Delaware County, and even further from Marcus Hook which is south of the Delco Tinicum Twp. If the search for David Horn was centered on the Delco Tinicum area, it's not likely a solitary bone belonging to him would have been found more than 50 miles upstream.
