Brandon Barnes is charged with murder.

Kendall Mims and Victoria Tippett are charged with accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice and neglect in reporting a crime.

The warrants say Brandon Barnes strangled Jessica Barnes to death and Mims and Tippett helped dispose of the body.

I don't understand why the girls did not come forward. Did he threaten them? Even so, still even more reason to. How did they think they would get away with this? Obviously have never heard of this website lol, or have any idea how digital footprints work. BB's ex-wife had come forward earlier. Posted below. Some abusers just cross that line. And to have looked her in the face to strangle her! The fear that poor girl must have had knowing what he was about to do.

I don't know why, but they were very active online in the time after she was announced as missing and their arrests. They literally could not keep quiet. IMO

OCT 2, 2024
  • The arrest warrant says that Brandon Richard Barnes used his "arms to strangle her to death."
  • He and the two roommates were denied bond.
  • The remains were found at Twin Lakes Park on Hartwell Lake.
  • LE believes the body was moved there from the Barnes' home on Laurel Drive in Pendleton.
  • After the remains were found, it took a few days to confirm they were human and belonged to Jessica.
  • Police Chief Crosby said Jessica likely died on Aug. 2 at her Laurel Drive residence in Anderson County.
  • On Oct. 1, police and the Pickens County coroner learned that a Clemson Univ forensic odontologist, who studies the structure and diseases of teeth, confirmed the remains found in the park belonged to Jessica.
  • Jessica's mother called Barnes' father in Romania on Oct. 1 to let him know of Jessica's death.

In a statement, her family said she was a victim of domestic violence and hoped her story would encourage other victims to seek help.

“With heavy hearts, we humbly return Jessica into the hands of Jesus, where we know she is now safe from her abuser,” the statement said. “Her spirit is renewed, and she is enveloped in the love she longed for so deeply while she was with us on this earth.”

Pendleton police chief Robert Crosby says this case stunned even experienced investigators.

Tuesday investigators say they conducted interviews with all 3 suspects which lasted 8 to 10 hours before they confessed to their involvement in Jessica Barnes death. Chief Crosby says the Barnes’ had marital challenges.

Brandon Barnes was charged with murder while the two roommates, Mims and Tippett, were both charged with accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice and misprision of a felony, according to the department.

Wednesday, a judge denied bond for all three suspects.

Tippett is accused of witnessing the murder and helping Brandon Barnes get rid of his wife’s body. According to a probable cause affidavit, Tippett failed to tell law enforcement about the murder, and she “did admit to disposing of the victim’s body to obstruct justice of murder by defendant Brandon Barnes.”

Mims “did render assistance” to Brandon Barns “to avoid the consequences of his crime,” the affidavit said, by helping Brandon Barns dispose of Jessica Barnes’ body. She, too, admitted this to investigators, according to the affidavit. A separate affidavit says that in addition to helping Brandon Barnes get rid of Jessica Barnes’ body, Mims “did have multiple opportunities to report the murder to law enforcement and did fail to do so.”

IMO a lot, known abuser, with live-in GF with his baby whilst she had lost hers….how can anyone handle such a domestic stituation…?! Unfortunately domestic violence victims rarely act because they are psychologically weak and overwhelmed and sometimes ashamed.

Strange that LE didn't go to him first. That poor woman caught in it.
