Calm down, calm down. That is the amount they are choosing to tell us. It's probably a base amount they received, up front. It's also possible that they are simply choosing to not share the complete amount of money they received, as it's nobody's business but theirs. They aren't obligated to be truthful about this information with anyone. It's personal. Plus, they are probably thinking, if they were to tell the world that they received some exorbitant amount of money from the People article, it might mislead people into thinking that their donations aren't as needed as they once were.
JMO, but I'm having a hard time believing JC ONLY received 200k, regardless of what some article says.
I'm a member of a Facebook application for Jaycee's Trust Fund (you can join, too!), which is run by people close to the trust fund/case. Recently, a bulletin was posted stating that people mistakenly assume the family has received millions from articles, photos, book deals, etc., but that this is definitely not the case and that they're still very much in need of donations. If people mistakenly assume they're millionaires, this could negatively affect the amount and number of donations coming in. Sadly, it appears that this could be the case, as the bulletin noted that "donations have not come in quite as expected."
Anyway, People can be pretty inconsistent when it comes to paying for photos. For example, I've read that Brad and Angelina got two million for their Shiloh spread, but that Jennifer Lopez got six million for photos of her twins. Jennifer Lopez hasn't really done much in a while, so you'd think photos of Shiloh would be worth more. Jaycee isn't really a marketable celebrity, so perhaps that is why she did not receive as much for her photos. I dunno, though.
I think kbl8201 got the $200K figure from the following article:
