I am stoked that they caught him so fast ... I just hope that the goverments in Peru and elsewhere can not be bought ......

I am so happy they have caught Vanderslime or whatever that coined name is...I knew they would catch him. I knew yesterday they would catch him...i could just feel it. I also feel justice will be served. I don't know if we will ever find out exactly what happened to Natalee(may God bless you) but we can certainly make an inference...and I doubt we would be off much. I am sure it was no accident...accidents can be explained. Apparently, the crime against Natalee required disposing of her body. He didn't have much help in Peru. There are thousands of defenses that VDS can come up with, but they won't work. He might as well confess, but he won't. I don't think we have anything to worry about here.

Is it possible that she knew WHO he was???...If so, why on earth would she go to his room with him????...by the way, was it HIS room she was found in...or...did he..rent another room there..for just him and her???? anyone know....Thanks!!!

Yes it is possible. Maybe didn't feel threatened. His room registered in his name. Could have been just friendly until he needed to get the money imo.
She said NO and that could have been the spark.

I just feel so bad that Dave and Beth have to relive this JVS news again, but so happy
that they will get some justice out of all of this for Natalee.
Sympathies to Ms. Flores family.

The look on his face in that photo is murderous,IMO. Doesn't look like a smirk to me. Can't call your Daddy this time, Joran!

Seems their common gambling/poker interest led her to hang out with him that evening. My hunch is he tried to drug her, perhaps to rob her (I'm not convinced, though, that was his sole purpose if he did try to drug her).

She knew about him. Her cousin was on the Today Show this morning and was asked about a conversation he and Stephany had. He said she saw a show about him, maybe a month ago, asked him what he thought about. The cousin blew off the topic.

I think her curiosity was peeked.

I hate to hear that....Some women are curious about "bad boys" with frightening reputations..and it dearly cost them..

I am under the impression that these 2 women..Natalie and Stephanie found him to be...very alluring and enticing to be with...and hard to resist..Unless something given to them.(drugs).by him...made them that way..

Looking at him...IMO..that is all he has to offer...some charm...with ulterior motives....thanks for your reply...

I wonder if out of curiousity Stephany questioned Joran about Natalie? That could have caused this rage. And a reminder of the date.

HLN just said that Stephnie's funeral was/is this afternoon.

According to his gambling friends in the Netherlands, he was borrowing money from everyone. He apparently borrowed enough funds to get to Lima with the promise he was entered in a SA Poker Tour/Tournament. A post farther back quoted his poker buddy's blog where he said JVS had been calling everyone asking them to send more money as he had none for food or to pay his hotel bill. Everyone refused and the friend speculated JVS may have killed this woman for money.

Hi, Betty P. The borrowing stories seem to be true.

It's also true that according to at least one gambling news site that he was a fairly successful online poker gambler. The website mentioned two of his monikers.

Of course, gamblers both win and lose.

He was staying at a rather upscale hotel.

signature killing to tell the world???? Jane V Mitchell covering this all hour tonight!!!

For the love of Pete.
please don't name call?!~ crikey.

prominent political types were at the funeral. This is the exact opposite of Aruba. Vanderslime has no cards to play in Peru. The victims family has the prominence and the contacts and this crime happened to a prominent Peruvian national and was perpetrated by a foreigner that likely murdered another girl. I say he's toast. Even if his family still has money I don't see a lot of Peruvians running to his defense. Her father appears to be a popular figure. I see no mercy coming his way. He picked the wrong place and the wrong victim this time. I doubt he knew who she was or who her father was. Just some girl in a casino to him-probably figured no one would know or care.

I'll bet he was searching for someone spending lots of money gambling. He was stalking for someone with potential money IMO. He found one....with more connections than just judges. Karma is right.

Maybe it did go down like that. Who knows.

Regarding the coffees? Well, he can't say they drank them, because that is easy enough to disprove in autopsy, even if he did manage to get her DNA on the cup.
But saying he left to get coffees and someone else killed her? Depends if there is any other DNA on her. HOPE NOT!

Attorneys consulted by Radio Capital in Lima told that now Peruvian Justice and Chilean authorities will have to coordinate and see if he van der Sloot will be either expelled or extradited.

“If he has committed any infraction against Chilean migratory laws, he could be promptly expelled and deported to Peru, after some administrative paperwork,” said on air attorney Roberto Miranda, one of the professionals consulted by Radio Capital. “But if there is no violation to any Chilean law, then we would need Chile to extradite him to Peru to face trial here, and that would mean another legal procedure.”

Peruvian Justice would need to issue today an arrest warrant on Joran van der Sloot, signed by a judge, before being able to take any legal action, warned Miranda.

Chilean police, however, estimate it is likely van der Sloot may be expelled and sent to Peru.

ohhhhh!!! This would spark anger ...in him....Altho...one WOULD bring it up..naturally...and ask questions.....Especially if she felt "safe" with him.IMO

If robbery was part of the murder, do we know if Natalee had any money taken from her???

He might be smirking now but that won't last long. If he tries that in jail I think he will soon find out exactly what the other prisoners and officials think about that!
