Joran Van Der Sloot Wedding: Nuptials Being Arranged By Convicted Killer

Convicted killer Joran van der Sloot is engaged to a Peruvian woman, according to his attorney Maximo Altez. The wedding is to be held in June, pending final approval by prison officials.

Altez was unavailable for comment this afternoon. In an earlier interview with the Associated Press he declined to disclose the name of the bride.

"He wants to marry, change his life, start a new life," Altez, also Peruvian, told the AP.

According to published reports, the young woman van der Sloot plans to wed is Leydi Figueroa Uceda, who he met in early 2011 when she was distributing products to inmates at the Miguel Castro Castro prison in San Juan de Lurigancho.

The future bride, according to published reports, was born on Sept. 19, 1989 in Peru. She is reportedly a devout Roman Catholic who lives in San Juan de Lurigancho. She is the mother of a child who may or may not be the son of van der Sloot. There are conflicting reports that the child was conceived during an unsupervised conjugal prison visit. The bride-to-be is, according to the Associated Press, registered at the prison as a conjugal visitor for the convicted killer.

I grew up Catholic and let me say, anyone who has conjugal visits with someone that isn't yet their spouse isn't exactly what most Catholics would call "devout" regardless of other activities she participates in at church.

I really hope there's a guard nearby whenever she goes to visit him for thse visits. No woman is safe alone with Joran van der Sloot, wife or not.

I fluctuate between feeling sorry for her & her child that they've been taken into Joran's web and thinking any woman who gets involved with him at this point knows what the risks are.

I believe the plan in JVDS's mind is to show himself as a reformed "family man" who has repented and is remorseful since he has met the "love of his life" a Peruvian woman whom he plans to marry.

This is a two fold plan. One... to try to get his sentence in Peru reduced. Two... to try to prevent Peru from extraditing him to the US when his sentence there is up, which of course he hopes will be shortened when his appeal is heard. You know...on compassionate grounds since he's a new husband and father and all.

Makes me ill. That woman is either brainwashed or being paid well for her part in this.

Well at least the paperwork could not be approved for them to marry this month. Looks like the fiancé is now hoping for an August wedding.

I often scratch my head at these women who "fall in love" with men who MURDER
or violate anyone in any way. HOW CAN THEY? That is my reaction.
I don’t know if she is making money, or if she is saving someone... (in her own mind of course)

Looks like Joran's appeal was denied and the Supreme Court in Peru has upheld his 28 year sentence. :rockon:

I forget who said it but around the time who was it from HLN that visited the jail nancy;s friend anyway i recall them or someone that knows the insides of the jail that they can use thier money to every so often have a conjicall visit maybe thats how he met this girl who knows but one thing for sure he doesn't have to be released not in that jail atleast in order to reproduce and now that he is engaged he will be allowed who knows how many closed door visits with her i will bet anything its a matter of time now before we hear about his fiance being pregnant infact i wouldn't be surprised if this modsnip> didn't announce it on the next anniversary of natalies dissappearance...

I wonder how those psychological tests will go? Surely he can't pass himself off as having no issues can he?

And most articles still indicate that the reason for this marriage is so that he can become a Peruvian citizen and possibly avoid extradition to the US when his sentence is up.

JVS is still getting a thrill from victimizing Natalee's family. He knows they will not know true peace until they get to bring her home and lay her to rest. IMO the only regret he has over Stephany, is that he got caught. It is easy for him to say Oh I am so sorry. If he honestly felt any regret over his actions......he'd tell where Natalie's body can be found. Somebody who is trying to make amends......acknowledging and taking steps to rectify mistakes they made.....does not do it half way.

I very much agree, I think JVS dad helped with getting rid of NHs body and he helped his son handled the cover up. His dad has had to answer to a much higher judge and I would not have wanted to be in his shoes. The does not lessen JVS of the responsibility of freeing the family of NH of the torment of not knowing. He has the power to place their minds at peace......he and he alone makes the decision not to. I will believe he feels some remorse the day he tells Beth where she can find her daughters body.....so she can bring her home and finally lay her to rest. Until then, I think he is playing the same sick games he has always played.......saying what he thinks people want to hear.

I thought his best answer (most deceitful) was that he put her in the bird sanctuary. He knew that the government could not dig up the bird sanctuary looking for a body several years after she vanished. Investigators would be able to find a skull, but not without destroying the sanctuary.

I have no doubt that Natalie suffered the same fate as Stephanie. Stephanie said something that upset Joran and he hit her in the face with his elbow. With Natalie, I think it was when she said something about her mother's family history having some association with a plantation with slaves, or discussing Nazis. I think that set him off, and something about gambling poorly set him off with Stephanie. She was good at the casino, but Joran simply lost money, thousands of dollars at a time. Joran has no impulse control. If he feels angry, he lashes out. He is contrite later, but the lashing out does not seem to have any boundaries.

His parents tried to correct him, but seeing a psychologist during high school, and involvement in sports, did not Change Joran's behavior. It was when he threw someone off the bridge that he was first assigned a psychologist. He was also violent with his younger brothers. As far as I can understand, he was problematic from the time that the family moved to Aruba, when he was very young. I doubt that he would have been any different had he been raised in the Netherlands. His mother thinks that there is something wrong in his head, and I agree. He should be locked up for life and should not be allowed to marry.
