I saw an interview with one of Stephany's friends who said that Stephany was afraid of something like this happening to her. Afraid of the element at the casino's. She also said that she would never go to a hotel room with anyone.

At five o'clock in the morning, after winning a large sum of money, one does impulsive things.

I knew a gentle woman who was once sexually assaulted by two consecutive drivers when she was hitchhiking.

That makes sense to me. If he enticed her in there just to grab the money, killing her right away is logical.
One final thought before I leave, but I still think she was drugged (similar to what is believed happened with Natalee) only she didn't fall into unconsciousness, maybe tried to fight him back or obviously rejected him, and that is when he became enraged. I don't believe the murder was planned before they went to the room, since it was his room and he had no way of removing the body. MOO

Are you saying that it is known that the official time of death was 8:30 AM?

No, not at all, but I took the info from this post, link, and the many comments about the TOD. Not sure how the time was arrived at, but it seems very specific. Have to wait for the official autopsy report. moo

The coroner's report is pending, but the probable cause of death is strangulation or asphyxiation, and the time of death is 8:30am Sunday morning

Watching the news reports today my heart was touched by Stephany's father who reached out to Natalee's parents and stated that this guy (joron) would be brought to justice for his daughter's murder and hoped that it would help them feel a sense of justice.

I am paraphrasing, of course, but this really touched my heart.

From various articles:
Sunday 5:20AM - Stefany and Joran seen going into his room
8AM Joran left the room
8:40AM Joran returned with two coffees, then left with two bags (I think a rucksack & a suitcase)
I really have to go to bed but TWO COFFEES? Oh, here comes the defense that she was still alive when he left the room for good.......:banghead: MOO

Then quite possibly Stephany passed out and JVDS murdered her before leaving the hotel.

I'm heading to bed, also. Prayers for Stephany's family and Natalie's also. I hope tomorrow is the first step towards closure for all of them. I know I'll sleep better knowing this guy is behind bars. :seeya:

how can they determine an exact time of death? that seems almost impossible

Have we heard if the rucksack and suitcase has been recovered? If the scene was bloody-I'm sure Joran's clothes were too! He may not have had time to dispose of them and was still carrying them with him!:waitasec:
Hopefully, another link in his chains!!:furious:

If TOD can be pinpointed to 8:30, Joran's lawyers will have a field day since that leaves open the possibility of someone killing her while he was getting coffee. Not sure if that will work in Peru, tho.

If he left at 8:00 AM or thereabouts, what happened may have been an hour or so before he left for the coffee as he would have had to shower, get his clothing in order so he could leave shortly after he came back with coffee.

The way the crime was commited is really throwing me a curve. Can't they actually tell how tall a perp is by the way the knife blows are in the victim?
That and her eye being injured, was that by a weapon or during the beating?

Was she wrapped in the blanket/sheet so he didn't have to look at her while he got ready to leave? I can't believe he thought he would get away. Nobodys that stupid.

I'm hoping (and they probably have at least some of this) - that LE found the "weapon" (we know there had to be a "weapon or knife" because they have said she was stabbed) - and that weapon conatins his fingerprints, DNA, whatever.

His bloody clothes - either left there or in his "rucksack" or "luggage".

Her father said yesterday that his DNA would be found under her fingernails.

Cuts, scratches, wounds on him.

HIS blood found at the scene (hoping he "cut" himself)

HER blood found on anything in his possession when he was caught.

That's enough for now - but I'm sure ya'll help with me with any I've missed.

Maybe that's what the coffee was for only she didn't drink it. He wanted both imo. Rape and robbery.
