shadowraiths,
I respect your opinion, but I'm not too quick to completely dismiss Johnny Terry's report.
Firstly, I don't think he was just puffing himself up for the press because he said that he reported these calls to police. This leads me to believe that they actually occurred and that these calls are not merely a complete fabrication.
Secondly, you argued that the statement "I know where you be at" is not indicative of the vernacular of a white male. I agree, but realize that Johnny Terry is from the Bronx, and probably is not a white male himself. He probably talks like this, as many in the Bronx would. The way I interpreted this is that the caller probably said "I know where you live" or "I know where to find you", and Johnny Terry, upon recounting the story to the reporter, stated that the caller said "I know where you be at." The reporter took the statement down verbatim, and it is ambiguous whether or not the caller said that or this is just Johnny Terry's vernacular. I think its reasonable to assume that if indeed the caller had said it exactly like that, then Johnny Terry may not have so easily ascertained that it was "a white guy" on the other end of the line.
The whole "I know where you are" concept is strikingly similar to Carman Monaco Jr.'s statements:
On Dec. 4, 2004, he called Campbell, Hashagen and McDade to warn Campbell that if she went to the EAB ceremony, he would be there.
"I will be in the crowd," he said. "I will dump her in Manorville with all the rest of the *advertiser censored*."
As far as age, Johnny Terry didn't say "older" white guy with respect to the caller (he did with respect to the john). Regarding the caller, he just said "white guy". Amanda Barthelemy was the one who stated "older white guy" with respect to the caller. I've discussed on this thread previously that according to studies, people are generally very accurate when guessing age based purely on telephone voice. This is especially so when there are broad age categories to choose from, such as "younger, adult and older". Given that Amanda used the word "older", I think its reasonable to say that the SK is over say 40 years old.
Also, as far as intimidation of what he considers the "weaker" sex, I don't necessarily disagree. But let me point out that Carman Monaco Jr. threatened men, too.
"On Feb. 16, 2004, Monaco called News 12 anchor Doug Geed and warned him, "Stay off 'Long Island Extra.' I want Danielle Campbell to do 'Long Island Extra.' " He then threatened to "cut off" Campbell's breasts."
As far as the police follow-up with Johnny Terry on his offer to show him some john's house, I think its reasonable to assume that police were already aware of her regular customer on LI. They had probably already interviewed the john and decided he was just that - a regular customer or sugar daddy. It is very common for erotic dancers to have sugar daddies that have good relationships with them and take care of them financially, and I assume the same is true for online escorts. There was no need for police to follow-up on that particular "lead" since they already had ruled the guy out for one reason or another.
I also disagree that the SG "rehab" call somehow may provide any insight into the SK. First of all, there's a serious debate about whether or not Shannan even died from a homicide at all - a debate we do not have with respect to Melissa Barthelemy. Since this thread isn't meant to discuss SG, let me just refer to post #403 over here regarding the rehab call you mentioned:

In the end, I just don't think there's enough to completely dismiss this report by Terry as false or useless. While I agree that taking the word of a person who was described by law enforcement as a pimp cannot and should not be blindly relied upon, I feel that there is enough credibility to this report to discuss them in the context of the calls to Amanda as well as the calls placed by Carman Monaco Jr.
