I'm confused on whether I should be going for my daily walk. I'm alone and step 6 ft. away when I come across anyone but is it considered essential? Idk.
In Illinois we are on a stay-at-home order but the governor did say you can go outside.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker issues order requiring residents to ‘stay at home’ starting Saturday

Residents can still go to grocery stores, put gas in their cars, take walks outside and make pharmacy runs. All local roads and airports remain open, with interstate travel expressly permitted. Illinoisans can leave home to help care for relatives, elderly residents or other vulnerable people.

Grabbing takeout, ordering an Uber and dropping off dry cleaning also are still permitted. The order even allows liquor stores and recreational cannabis dispensaries to remain open for business should the second week of impromptu homeschooling create an essential need.

We are supposed to stay at home unless in essential work OR going to an outdoor space to hike OR to the doctor, pharmacy, vet or grocery store.

Only smaller markets have much on the shelves, but I expect that to get better. Food banks still have food but are working out procedures to remain open.Where

It's very quiet, nearly everyone is obeying. There was that rush on the stores, but the grocery store parking lots are pretty empty now. Only 1 new case in the last 48 hours but we're braced for it to get worse. It only arrived here about a week ago.

Fortunately, we shut down the schools right about the same time, no evidence that it has gone community here.

Where do you live?

I can’t provide a link because our mayor makes his announcements on FB. Back story is our state’s governor has done next to nothing as far as direction. Yesterday, our flea market, which is held in a HUGE inside venue, went on as per usual. The parking lot was packed. Many people took video and the fact the owner of the building allowed it to go forward really maddened our mayor. Last night he signed an executive shelter in place order, establishing non essential businesses to close for two weeks and a curfew was put in place. My hat is off to the mayor who stepped up to the plate that our governor is refusing to do. This morning, the governor held a prayer and scripture moment on FB live but zero on what the state is doing to combat the virus. It is surreal!

:confused::mad::mad::mad:
That's terrible! Where do you live?

I've been staying home, so I can't say for sure, but I get a sense that most Canadians are taking things seriously and not congregating in groups. Of course there will be some jerk exceptions, but I don't think there are a lot. Streets seem very empty. People in lines at the grocery store leave lots of space. Many grocery stores have the first hour after opening only for seniors and other at-risk shoppers. I like that.

Southern Oregon here. Our small city of about 22k has not taken specific steps but has followed federal and state mandates. With a major employer closed and the local state university doing online classes until the end of the quarter, plus restaurants closed to anything but delivery and pick-up...it’s a ghost town.

Today, the Oregon Governor mandated people to stay home, after her strong request before the weekend was ignored. It won’t change what my DH and I have been doing for 10 days.

Parks and playgrounds are closed by me... not sure how they are enforcing it, but the school district who has been closed for over a week now emailed and said to stay off the property and playground equipment.

I went to a grocery store and was stopped at the door for my forehead to be scanned before I was allowed in. All employees wore masks and gloves.

I think the temperature scanning is a great even though it's not foolproof.

I am in Montana, all businesses are open. But, restaurants are take out only. It seems like a lot of places are closed anyway. The governor shut down restaurants casinos and bars, because every county was doing their own thing.

I wouldn't know much, I am going to work every day, as "essential" for work. But I noticed last night, how quiet it was in our neighborhood.

I'm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago - and have been working from home. Yesterday afternoon it was sunny/43 degrees and while out on my run (alone!) I saw a group of teen boys playing basketball! Yikes! The thing is, there are many parents who are considered essential workers (and thank goodness they can still work!) so these teen kids are home from school and home alone - the parents can't force them to stay inside while they are working. It freaks me out that they're all touching the basketball - but I've seen this many times. I feel bad for the parents because I bet they have no idea!

The Kansas City Metro is in the Shelter In Place Phase as of midnight last night. Only essential business are open.

There is one case now reported in our small town population 5,200. I live on the Kansas side. We only have a small grocery store and a Dollar General. Not really any place to shop unless you drive 20-25 minutes away. I don't like these early shopping hours for Seniors as I don't like to drive in the dark harder for most Seniors to see. Walmart said they would open from 6-7 am for Seniors. Gives us better hours to shop. jmo

I am in Mississippi. I can't speak for the entire state, but I believe my community is doing okay. We are doing many of the things mentioned in this thread such as reserving the early shopping hours for our seniors, some stores and restaurants are using curb side pick up service. The larger stores are cleaning carts and sanitizing keypads at the registers between customers. No more individual butcher/seafood counter service. All meat/seafood is pre-packed and in the case for self-serve. Most restaurants are closed for inside dining. Parks in my city are barricaded with signs posted so at least no vehicles can enter parking lots. I haven't seen a single person at the park by my house in two weeks. I have seen some small businesses even willing to do home delivery of small goods. Some stores and businesses are open, some are closed temporarily. All schools and universities are closed and doing online school.

Many people are doing a good job of staying home but of course, you always have those that don't comply. I think we are seeing more and more people come around to compliance with just staying home.

My husband is in an essential role with his employer, so he must go in at least a few days a week. They are very pro-active at keeping everyone at work distanced. They are also working on what they can do to support our medical community by donating some supplies they use regularly that can fill in for PPE supplies that in shortage at our hospitals. They are also bringing in box lunches for employees from local restaurants in order to aid those small businesses who are hurting.

Many in my community, myself included, are spending our time at home sewing masks for our nurses and doctors and other healthcare providers in the hopes of flattening the curve. We are trying to provide double, triple and 4 ply cotton masks that have a pocket to place a filter inside. These masks can be washed on hot and dried on high heat to be re-used. These are meant for use by healthcare workers who may not have direct contact with known infected patients so that the N95 masks that are in short supply can be reserved for those that do. Many of these workers were going without a mask or were asked to keep reusing the same mask day after day. Even though we know that these are not perfect, we hope to provide some protection. It's better than nothing and far better than a bandana tied around a face. To date, I have made 80 masks and distributed about 60 so far. More going out in the mail tomorrow and I will start sewing another batch soon. Honestly, I cannot make them fast enough. Once word got out, I have continuous requests. I am donating all that I make. I pray it helps.

Southeastern PA, just South of Philadelphia, about a 10-15 drive from the stadiums.
Stay at home order, we can go outside for groceries, laundry, pharmacy, take out food. Nonessential employees stay home.

We are not as bad as New York or New Jersey's situation yet, but that is not far away. I am sure people travelled back and forth, so we should get hit hard in the near future. Lots of hospitals in this areas, but they will get overwhelmed eventually. I work for a hospital but nonmedical employee. We get a lot of updates. PA closed our testing site in their latest decree by closing the parks, one of our access points to the testing, so they moved it off the hospital site.

Kansas City Metro area is now shelter in place. We are one county to the north and as of today on Missouri Department of Health website we have 2 confirmed cases of Covid-19 AKA Chinese virus. Jackson County (Kansas City) has 17 confirmed cases.
Playgrounds are closed with crime scene tape, restaurants are closed, school canceled. Everything is shut down. I think officials are doing their best but some folks just do stupid things. Spending lots of time with my kids and helping them with their school work.

Let's call it by it's proper name, Covid-19. Calling it something else is simply a political statement.
