Has Debra Southerly been considered for this Jane Doe? I can hardly find any information on her, but the resemblance between her picture and the sketch is considerable.

Evidence in this case(s) released in January 2020 according to Fire Island Jane Doe Facebook site.

Suffolk County Police released this new piece of evidence yesterday at a press conference; detailing a close-up of initials on a belt believed to have been handled by the killer. The initials are either “WH” or “HM”.

Suffolk Police Release New Gilgo Beach Murder Evidence

Suffolk County police shared a previously undisclosed piece of evidence in the unsolved Gilgo Beach murder investigation Thursday, nine years after the evidence was found and shortly before a movie about the case debuts.

The evidence was a black leather belt embossed with the half-inch initials “HM” or “WH” in light blue lettering found at an unspecified victim’s dump site, police said. Investigators believe the belt was handled by the killer and didn’t belong to any of the victims, but they declined to release the belt size.

“It’s also tempting to connect Ms. Mack to Jessica Taylor — two women discovered in the same way, in two of the same places. Ms. Hart has her own theory — unproven of course, though she sounds energized as she shares it. She notes that two other victims were similarly disposed of: body parts, still unidentified, found at Davis Park in 1996, and the victim known as Peaches, who was found in Nassau County. It is possible, Ms. Hart has been thinking, that these four victims have the same killer — a different one from the four women found in 2010 in Gilgo Beach. “The method of dismemberment and disposal is kind of unique to these four,” she said.“

The Gilgo Beach Murders Were a Cold Case. Then a New Police Chief Arrived.

Here's a diagram I made for Fire Island Jane Doe, for us visual learners. It shows all her scars and how she was dismembered. Where I placed her scars is based on the information on the Doe Network. Until we find her torso, we don't even know if her arms and or hands were dismembered too. I find it much easier to digest information visually, so I might make these diagrams for all the victims, especially the Does.

Thanks. This is helpful. Memory/reproducing information works better by using different sources/senses.

Am I the only person who thinks this sounds like a bike injury? Medial ankles means inside ankles on both feet and the back of one calf, is kind of where the bike pedal would be if you were straddling the bike. Maybe she had a bad bike injury. Just a thought.

I found a few potential women on Namus around the time period before April 1996.
