has this already been discussed (sorry, I was at work all weekend and just catching up): that the tip for the pond search came from a letter from a prisoner out of state (came from BTR show I am listening to right now and not sure if I am able to post the link)

Morning nurse.....yes that info has been posted...can't remember if it was up here or in the RT downstairs. People were speculating as to what instigated the search at the pond and thought it might have something to do with the fact the LE officials interviewed Hankjr as well as another inmate nay nay ( that is a nickname). Several media outlets reported that the search might have been the result of an out of state letter from a prisoner. We will just have to wait and see.

I wondered along those lines as well. Especially considering that they were searching the pond in response to one of over 4000 tips. Of course only Law Enforcement would be privy to the tip unless we have an arrest and records are released in accordance with the Sunshine laws.

I was watching the water shooting out of one end of the tubes ( looked like a large hose I would place on my dryer vent) and wishing there was a filter or screen or something to catch anything important. My guess is they had an idea of what they were looking for and weren't concerned about anything that might have gotten trapped in a filter. Time will tell.

According to information and pictures that were taken of the area, the water flowed into ditches and low areas around the pond, and will likely drain back in along those same systems.

As for the filters, most of these pumps do have filters, but they are on the intake side of the pump so that any debris picked up will not damage the pump inner works as the water goes through. This is usually a screen type filter of some kind. We have a similar, but smaller version, of this kind of pump that is gas powered and is used to pump water out of a private lake/pond to an underground system that waters the trees along our drive. These pumps work fairly quickly, ours is only a 1/2 hp pump and is able to easily pump water through a 2 inch plus pvc pipe that is over a quarter mile long!

PCSO Addresses Rumors In Haleigh Case

TJ Hart

I spoke with Lt. Johnny Greenwood and others at the PSCO about the list of wild rumors took on lives of their own after authorities revealed they were looking for evidence of Haleigh Cummings in the L pond they were draining at the Mondex south and west of Palatka off US 19 over the weekend.
Rumor 1) A submerged car had been found with skeletal remains of a small child inside.
"No"
Rumor 2) A car was taken from the pond on a flatbed truck.
"No car was taken from the pond. There was a car towed on a flat bed from a residence, but not by us or for us. I would suspect that the person that owned the car had it towed for whatever reason. We have nothing to do with it or know who the person was."
Rumor 3) Nay Nay Prevatt had told officers that the “car” belonged to Greg Page.

"No"

Rumor 4) Greg Page’s photo appeared in the jail booking log as Tyrone Djuan Hunter. Was he arrested in this case?
"Don't know about the jail photo, Page was not arrested or questioned as a result of the Cummings case"
Rumor 5) Misty blew her brains out.
"As of today, we are not working a death to Misty"
Rumor 6) Timmy Croslin came back to the area from Mass and was causing trouble—name heard on the scanner.
"Apparently Ronald made a complaint against Timmy for harassing phone calls"

Mentioning sex offenders, the lax laws, how many actual children go missing in florida a year. Over 2,000 never accounted for yearly.

Hello WS

Everyone. This is shocking to me. I didn't and don't know actual numbers because(I admit it)I don't want to know. Not that I am unaware of how bad it is for children, in my own lame personal way I am an advocate for children and I write about children's rights, or bring up the conversation where I can.

The knowledge of the numbers is hard to take in. It is too hard to understand why we are not all freaking out about this. I'm not saying anything about anybody because: what am I doing about this? What can I do about this? What can we do about this? Why isn't anybody doing anything about this?

I know. Its not that easy. I'm not expecting any answers here. I just have to say out loud how shocked and upset I am. That sentence made me cry. To think all those children...

Worse. Who are these adults that are hurting them? Taking them? It is just so horrible that anyone would hurt a child but we know it happens. Its a weird double reality. And for those who have had to live through this happening to a child, those realities are one. You can't even think it is real but it happens every day. And what do we do when (to my understanding: please correct if wrong) a large percent, the majority of children are being abused, murdered by their parents or someone who was supposed to love and protect them? This, that is a sickness that goes much deeper than "criminal" behavior. That is a subject too deep for this post, of course.

I do think the world is getting better because of education and this being the information age, plus all the work of people who do care. I must believe the world is getting better.

To say I feel strongly about the rights of children would be putting it mildly. I believe that if we stop child abuse we will heal the whole world of all crime. We must raise a generation that has not been abused. I hope to make it clear that I am just giving emotions here, of course we all know that stopping abuse would be great but how? With education, and one person, family at a time. In time, I have faith humanity will heal and be better to our children, but in the meantime...

Here we are in this time, with these children missing, hurt, abused. I just want to say that today I am crying out for them. I am so so sorry to all of you. I am so sorry that someone was not there to protect you, and I am so sorry that our world hurt you. In my emotional fog I just remembered: educate children...don't scare them or have them live in fear, just help them to be wise to this world. One day we will heal, one day all children will be loved on this planet.

I thank all the WSers for posting here, on all the cases about children/anyone abused or missing. To know there are people that care about the babies, makes the world seem more sane. I know lots of people care about children. Look at all the people who care about Haleigh. WS is a wonderful place but I am sure you will understand why I would say, I will be happy when there is no more need for sites like WS. No more missing, abused, murdered children.

My prayers for Haleigh. Blessings little child. :rose:

Thank you.

My husband is an environmental engineer and he immediately recognized the pump and compressor system pictured here:http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/lo...cummings-investigation-091909,0,1314059.story

Without seeing first hand how the system was set up he could not say whether or not it had proper filtration.

It is clear that this larger mobile pump and compressor system is what was used on this pond rather than the smaller version that you described in your post above. I am familiar with one of the underground systems that you described and it would take many months in my opinion to properly install a system that you described. I wasn't necessarily worried about where the water was going and whether or not it would end up back in the pond. I was merely worried that evidence would be lost. I hope that you are correct and their was some sort of filter to catch anything with evidentiary value.

Chiquita~ Thanks for such a wonderful post. The sheer number across the nation is something everyone needs to look at as a reality and understand. Even you said you didn't "want to know". This is what we have to change in order for people to stand up and say, "Enough!".

We have to address the way people acknowledge what is happening around them in every city in every state before we can begin to move forward towards prevention or a solution to protect our children. People have to be outraged. People have to work together to find what truly will make a difference. We need a driving force for laws to be changed, education to be made available, and real safeguards to be put into place. There is no excuse for children or adults to go missing either at the hands of a parent or because of a stranger.

The fear over the Swine Flu made people scramble at the thought so many could be lost to the outbreak. People acted across the world. They are trying to save thousands from being lost. People turn a blind eye to the plight of our missing and the horrific numbers, but it is unacceptable to lose them to the flu. Missing children and adults are an epidemic which goes largely unaddressed by our government and the people in this country.

LOL...no, it is not that fancy or sophisticated of a system...took less than 3 days start to finish! The truck mounted pumping systems shown in the video and pictures work very much the same way, just on a much larger scale. They need to have some sort of a filtration system to prevent the silt and sand from getting into the machinery. These truck based systems are often used on construction sites when an uncovered structure gets filled with rainwater and must be pumped dry to continue work. I am quite sure that LE considered the need for some kind of filter if they were looking for that type of evidence. However, due to the quick turnaround after finishing the pumping stage to being "finished" at the location, it appears that they were looking for something specific and it must have been large enough that they could quickly determine that it was not there.

Bowling said much of the intense interest was driven by publicity the activity generated.

"We did a search last weekend and the weekend before," related to the case, he said. "We do searches all the time."

*snip*

He would not say what evidence investigators hoped to find. He said he expects the department to conduct another search next weekend.

So, they do searches "all the time", this search was planned, and there is another planned for next weekend? :waitasec:

Thought you all might be interested. Tommy has FINALLY been added to the docket:

Tommycriminal.jpg

Some interesting points:

~Tommy DOES have an attorney, despite rumors to the contrary. Guess that rumor can be laid to rest.

~Lindsy wrote a letter to the judge (TODAY). Perhaps asking the judge to lower his bond? (Just a guess).

~Tommy's first appearance was on the 16th, the day after he was arrested.

So would that mean LE did not find Haleigh during this search?

Doesn't sound like it - why would they search again?

There was a press release from PCSO that stated they didn't. Media reports were conflicting as to what they did or didn't find in the way of evidence, but none stated that they actually found HaLeigh. I don't think they could keep that under wraps. The medical examiner would HAVE to be called to the scene. I'm SURE some of the locals that live in the area would have seen the medical examiner's van (or vehicle) arrive on scene - plus the family would have to be notified.

Lindsy Croslin wrote the judge a letter? I wonder what that could've been about. Any thoughts?

My guess is she told the judge she has 3 young children at home, and the $50,000 bail is a financial hardship on the family and asked him/her to reduce it.

many....you know what is really bothering me? Lyndsy Croslin seems like a woman that if she knew the truth.....she would be more than willing to tell it. So what is the story?

a thought. I'm sure Lindsay didn't know about Hank stealing the neighbors gun then stashing it either. Just sayin
