Yeah.
Those weren't parents who were waiting for a call from a kidnapper. All the people they called, friends, the priest, they were preparing the stage for John to "find" JB.

And this>>
DOI (HB) Page 15:

"The note says the kidnappers will be watching. Maybe I can catch them looking at us. I race upstairs and I find a pair of binoculars. I start looking up and down the street. There's a strange vehicle in the alley behind the Barnhills', I note. After several minutes of watching the vehicle, nothing happens so I finally go back downstairs. The phone rings. Everyone freezes as I slowly pick up the receiver."

Maybe I can catch them looking at who,the police officers I called,my friends, after I've been clearly told she dies if I do so?

The entire book is a fairytale!

Maybe its just me...but, if my daughter was supposedly kidnapped, and I grabbed my binoculars, and saw a strange vehicle in the alley behind my neighbor's house...my butt would be going outside TO that strange vehicle to take a closer look. I guess that it must have been too cold for John that night, since it seems that he didn't want to go outside for ANY reason. Not to look for clues...(spent a whopping 30 seconds out there...brrrrrrrr.) And not to check out that "strange vehicle"....brrrrrr...way to cold for that, ya know.

Right...the RN WARNS them not to talk to so much as a DOG!! But, what do they do? They call over just about everybody they know...including JB's pediatrician (what the heck was HE there for? Besides giving Patsy meds? IMO...she KNEW that she was going to be needing some meds to get through THAT night, but how did she know in advance that HE...her daughter's pediatrican...would give them to her? That is weird.)

I was always wondering whether he moved her or not but what you say makes sense. And sadly,I agree, who knows what would have happened if it would have been French that found her.

John got very lucky...if French HAD of found her, there would have been no contamination of the crime scene. HE wouldn't have untied her wrists, and took the tape from her mouth, picked her up and carried her upstairs...and placed her on the floor, then covered her up with a blanket and sweatshirt, so that Patsy wouldn't see JB that way.

Totally off topic...but, did you realize that after Patsy was told that her fibers were found on JB, she said that it was because she had threw herself on JB's body. WELL...that would make sense...and be a PERFECT explaination...IF...JB's body hadn't of been covered with a blanket and sweatshirt, making the transference of Patsy's fibers onto JB and her clothes...impossible. IMO...THAT is the reason that she flung herself on her in the first place, to be able to explain away those fibers. She apparently didn't think about the fact that JB was COVERED when she did it. DUHHHHHH I believe that is the same reason that John removed evidence and contaminated the scene by picking JB up and carrying her. So that he could say..."well, of COURSE my fibers are going to be all over her, I picked her up and brought her up from the basement".

Indeed. It is one of the big mysteries of this case why John Ramsey didn't tell police about the myserious car (OR the open window in the basement) until many weeks later. He wondered why the police weren't creating roadblocks yet he didn't bother to pass on what could have been extremely crucial clues.

It absolutely doesn't make sense.

No it doesn't make sense at all. The opened window..and the mysterious car, were afterthoughts...(madeup cr@p) to make it look like an intruder, that's the ONLY thing that makes sense.

I agree. He added those as he went along. I don't believe he ever went outside even for 30 seconds. I think he chose that ridiculous amount of time because he thought LE may ask neighbors if the saw anyone outside that morning. It was around 6 am, and people may have been up getting ready for work. This way if LE told him that no one saw him he had the excuse that it was only for 30 seconds.

Good point! I have always thought...geez...he and Patsy lied so much, why in the world didn't he lie about that? I would have been embarrassed to say that I went outside for 30 SECONDS. What you are saying makes the most sense. I don't believe he went outside at all either...because I believe that he is involved somehow...what reason would he have to go outside anyway? PLUS..if you are going to go outside for ONLY 30 seconds...why bother to go out at all?

Anyone think that maybe they are reopening the investigation in part because Burke is now 21. Maybe LE thinks he will talk now.

I don't think that he had anything to do with it...but, you are right...he may talk now, and tell what he knows. I doubt it though...because he has to protect his daddy.

There is one thing I wish he would reveal: was he up that morning asking what was going on? Was his voice really in the background on the 911 call Patsy made? If it was not, that actually makes more sense. If it was, why was he up at that time? Did he hear arguing or see lights on or what?

BR has admitted that he was awake that morning, but pretended to be asleep. He has said he heard loud voices. He has said he was not in the room for the phone call. But if he was not in the room, how did he know it was a phone call? How would he know the difference, whether it was a phone call or his parents talking? The kitchen (where the phone call was allegedly made) is on another floor, and it is a large house.
I think BR came downstairs when the loud talking got "frantic", came into the room when the 911 call was made; when he began asking questions ("what did you find?") His father replied sharply (this was heard on the tape) and they sent him to his room with instructions to stay in bed till they came for him and to tell no one that he had been awake.
It was a few years later, under questioning from LE (with Pete Hofstrom in attendance) that he finally admitted he had actually been awake.

Whether LE wishes to question him now that he is 21 or not, he is not compelled to talk to them. And I don't think he will. Even if he were a suspect, he would still not have to talk to LE, unless he were subpoenaed. And I don't see any reason why he would be. He can't be accused of this crime because he was under age when it happened. It can't be proved he was a witness. And you can bet LW is waiting right in the wings to LE at bay.

I was under the impression that none of Burke's interviews were released...when did he say all this?

hello all sleuthers - many years a lurker, first time poster.

The JonBenet case is what got me addicted to websleuths. I fear that justice will never be served for this precious child. The staging was all over the map and points in many different directions (by design I suspect). Because of that, IMO it spells RDI.

Since Burke is now a legal adult and no longer protected by John & Patsy,
and LE has re-opened the case, I pray they will interview him again and ask some of the very questions posted here. I have always felt he either knows, was involved or witnessed much more that has been disclosed.

Excellent point. Burke is of legal age and I would certainly re-interview him along with having him take a lie detector test. But this will never happen IMO. Boulder isn't tough enough to do this and JR is too clever to get around it

I have never thought that Burke had anything to do with the death. I don't think we will see him making any statements or being requestioned at this point. His father is really the only thing he has left familywise and is most likely his sole source of support at the moment.

My problem with the Burke killed her and the parents staged this as the cover up has been

A. that Burke as a child never said a word to anyone, even during great emotional distress. Any normal human being causing a death truly by accident would have some guilt about the incident and the effect on his mother. As a child I doubt he had the sociopathic skills needed to just go on playing games and hanging with friends while his world fell apart.

B. if this was a sibling accident and parents chose to cover it up the last scenario I would imagine one coming up with is a sex crime killing. It is so repugnant on every level and says something about the person who goes to that scenario as an explanation. You would expect an accident scenario, something falling on her, something of that sort.

I agree. And if he had anything to do with it, he wouldn't have walked in on Patsy as she was making that 911 call...and say..."What did you find?", after hearing her say that she found "something"....(the ransom note).

I have a hard time picturing BR (the way he was at the time) being SOLELY responsible for his sister's death. Not so, his elder half-brother, for whom I cannot say the same. If BR is involved at all, it was with his elder brother. I have often thought that may have been the reason the case was not pursued as aggressively as it warranted. Colorado law would prevent JAR from being prosecuted if a child under 10 (BR) was involved also.
I just think there are a few things that IMHO raise the question of the involvement of JAR.
The "sighting" by neighbor Joe Barnhill during the time JAR was supposed to be with his mother- Barnhill knew him and should have been able to tell if the young man he saw going into the R house was, in fact, JAR. Honestly, I can't think of any OTHER young man it would have been, save one of JAR's college friends, and in that case, they would only be going into the R home if JAR was there.
The infamous suitcase in the basement, which Smit tried so hard to link to the crime. The fact that the Rs admitted the suitcase did belong to JAR, being the one he used to go back and forth from campus, and the contents of the suitcase: comforter stained with JAR's semen-not unusual in and of itself- but paired with a Dr. Seuss children's book make it look like a child molestation kit.
Then there is the matter of the complete lack of family photos and movie from Christmas morning. Something they NEVER failed to chronicle, and for both photos and home movies to be absent, whatever the excuse, raises a huge red flag for me about who was in those photos.
These things are not coincidences IMHO.

Again, I may be imagining this, but I am pretty sure that I read that Burke had told friends at Uni that he couldn't remember a thing from that night. I forget where I read it but will try to find it (probably somewhere heinous like the Daily Star which obviously I never read LOL).

The sighting of JAR from Barnhill has always bothered me as well. I would like to have him re-interviewed.
