I'm sure someone made this point before: she can't have had the knife in one hand and the gun in the other (especially with her "broken" finger), so this means she had to pause between stabbing him and shooting him, and I assume that pause would have to be a good few seconds in length. She knew what she was doing, and calling "the incident" an overkill is an understatement.
Yuk! It didn't dawn on me in the first trial how strong that knife had to be to inflict 8? wounds to bone without breaking. Hardly a knife Travis would have selected for cutting a silky curtain cord, as she testified to.
Yes. I think she planned it use both the gun and knife to make it appear like there were two or more attackers. She did not have time go downstairs and get a knife. So, she had to have had both the gun and knife with her. And, as you say, she paused while switching weapons.
