Unless Nurmi knows for a fact there's an observant Mormon on the jury, his strategy is nuts.

Aiming for everyone else but The One to stay neutral-ish is one thing. Riling up the All but One with pedo and abuse and no remorse will backfire, because the All but One , truly alienated and angry , will more likely than not keep on arguing until the One gives in.

This is my hope!

This is an incredibly fantastic point. He's hoping that this person would hold out. That doesn't always happen. Deliberations are about getting others to see your side and if you're good at it you can actually flip a juror. Happens all the time. Happened to Scott Peterson. In the eleventh hour, a religious juror who wasn't going for death finally voted in favor of it, to the shock of the others. It happens. So if his goal is to so malign the others against Jodi that they fervently argue for death for her, then he just may be successful there. I don't think that's his goal though...

Yes. Ask her Juan, couldn't TA have been protecting JA's reputation by hiding the fact that they were having sex while not dating? Closeting, yeah right.

(Oops late comment, WS doesn't like me right now)

Questioning about #JodiArias "peeping" thorugh a window at #TravisAlexander kissing another woman. Twitter 10:10AM
#JodiArias saw kissing right? Yes. And she saw this woman's bra was off right? Yes. Twitter 10:10AM
Martinez: she came over unannounced and went into his backyard right? Even though she had the code go through the garage? #JodiArias

Dr. F stresses that Jodi was NOT at TA's house to peep or snoop. She just NEEDED her SS card. That's all. :gaah:

Well have a look at daddy's police interview. Start at around 7:15
She was so upset that she called her dad because JODI said her and TRAVIS were getting married....delusional much Jodi???

Curious - see Frigga's post #479.

I agree that many LDS members lie - it is a very difficult standard to uphold and maintain - especially for anyone with a normal hormonal sex drive. I'm not trying to start a riot or offend anyone's religion (I promise).

Devout LDS members are expected to hold themselves to a "higher standard" - and Travis did wear a ring to remind himself of that very thing. The "CTR" ring stands for "Chose The Right".

It truly is my belief that the DT team is using this as a strategy - Dr. MF talks about Travis conflict with sex and his religion.

But, a strategy for what? To what end? His conflict caused him to break up with the woman he knew he would never marry, but she stayed in his face. Then ultimately killed him. How is that strategy a mitigator? Not arguing with you, just asking how you think they might tie up the loose ends on this. And there are certainly some.

ETA: OK reading further posts helped me understand your strategy claim... so, is it true that if there is a LDS juror, they will hold TA's sexual/religious conflict against him? To the point of excusing the one who murdered him? If that's how it is then...wow!

I see now. My posts are typed when I read one to reply to...and show up pages letter. Sometimes all I need to do is read ahead rather than stop and ask.

It's okay with me! When the threads are moving fast I'm sure many of us miss lots of great answers. I don't mind reading a new answer again, or getting directions back to the first answer, either, if that's what happens.

Wow, when Juan Martinez is on the job, the posts really FLY!

#JodiArias and Nurmi are chatting. She flips through a ton of pages of something and talks to Willmott now. She is smiling.

Pretty sure the defense team goes to the hard rock cafe for lunch.

I just listened to Bill's interview about Jodi growing pot on the roof, then her parents going through everything in her room. After that she "changed". She would not allow her parents to stay with her in Palm Desert because she was afraid they would snoop through her things in that home. Lying about everything, hiding things, keeping secrets.

So the "betrayal" that Jodi felt from her parents is what invokes her rage. Anything that Jodi feels that reminds her of "betrayal" is what triggers the lying, hiding, cheating, stalking, sneaking, computer stalking, text stalking, and any other sort. Interesting how Jodi couldn't put herself in Travis' shoes when he confronted her about snooping, stalking, and hacking behaviors. Jodi couldn't feel the "pain" of her parents doing this to her when Travis tries to explain the pain she is putting him through.

This is where she learned power and control over others - find out and expose their secrets.

I believe TA was hiding his sexual activities for the reasons stated. But that does not prove he was dissing JA, only that he had a religious conflict. Dr. F wants to say he was ashamed of JA and that hurt her self esteem. I call bull on that. His conflict was real but one he would have had with any woman he was sexually active with against LDS laws. It was not about JA personally, just sexual conflict in general. IMO.

He did not deserve to die for it. And she should not be excused for brutally murdering him. I might go there if this had been a heat of the moment thing--not premeditated and cruel. I do not see how anyone can excuse her actions even if they are fervent LDS. MOO.

Wasn't there a lady that admitted in the first trial that she and TA had sexual intercourse when they were dating? So his not being a virgin was known by some. ty

Deanna Reid.

Not true if you are LDS. In order to receive a temple recommend the Bishop literally asks the questions if you have masturbated, fornicated, or had thoughts of ill-repute.

Bottom line here is Travis did lie, he did portray himself as a 30 y/o virgin.

Again, I think the DT strategy is to go after 1 devout LDS juror. (JMO)

TA DIDN'T have a Temple Recommend at that time so it shouldn't have any bearing on any die hard LDS member. TA did what the LDS church requires you to do when you "back slide". If anything, any devout Mormon would applaud him for admitting his transgression. Not many Mormons DO.

I agree! It is the concerns (doubts) for Travis' "afterlife" part that emphasizes JA's true cruelty to Travis and his friends and family members (turning the knife once again). Because for Jodi, she just can't kill (or hurt) him enough; death is still not enough; she wants to make sure that those close will always wonder if attained his coveted place in the afterlife.
