Juan is going to leave the jurors with a holiday break and no court on Monday (6 days) with the thoughts that Dr. MF has just violated her ethical code, lost her objectivity, misdiagnosed, and had a premature case bias in which she allowed no further facts to dissuade her.

Hmmm . . . . .

nice strategy Juan!

This one beats the allegations of pedos snowballing downhill into a pit of non-ethical diagnostic bog of eternal stench!

... so, on redirect Nurmi can only talk about anything that Juan brought up- right? Nothing more- correct?

Double posts can be deleted! Just go to edit post and no one has to know about your little blunder.

Juan got a lot of very important information out today through this unwilling witness, along with impeaching her (cherry on top). It was a stellar day for Travis.

Maybe Fonseca has another trial Monday so judge told JM to wrap it up and let KN redirect? Then questions? Guess we don't really have time for all of that. I cannot wait to see what the COA decided. AZlawyer, have you heard?

People, correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't "depression with suicidal tendencies" a psychological diagnosis? Isn't that what she's been doing all along? She's been diagnosing Travis' psychological problems in a troubling relationship.

Now, when it comes to Jodi, she can't be bothered giving a "diagnosis" because she's on Jodi's side.

This claim of showing objectively the dynamics of their relationship a psychological study?

Seems she tried to toe a very thin line there and jumped off almost immediately.

Juan stopped at the right time! I want to hear Nurmi try and make the boo-boo go away on re-direct, with no time to prepare.

Can anyone think of a benign reason for Jodi to secretly record the phone sex just weeks before killing Travis? I can't imagine Jodi simply wanting a cherished momento of their time together as Travis and Mimi prepared for Cancun. Far too little has been made of the evil implications of JA recording Travis unawares imo.
IMO, the fact that it was "lost" indicates evil intent, as there was no reason for it to be "lost" - so what if they had phone sex? If anything it would show she was on 'friendly' terms with Travis. The only reason would be that it was proof of something, such as blackmail. Even if there were no messages containing her threats to reveal it, she couldn't be 100% sure that Travis hadn't told someone.

Re-direct first. :scared:

Having to follow a Nurmi redirect after JM's cross-examination is like sitting through a bad poetry reading after watching a great movie.

(Sorry, I can't think of a better analogy.)

It would be lovely if we got the transcript of the secret witness testimony to go over during this lengthy break, wouldn't it?

Martinez is done with cross-examination. Judge calls 10-min afternoon recess. #JodiArias trial will be done at 3:45pm today.

Have to laugh - Juan is so confident (read cocky) that he doesn't even drag his cross out until the end of the day, allowing Nurmi to leave a bad impression over the long break. :happydance:

It's like having dinner at a Michelin rated restaurant and being served a poopsicle for dessert.
Heehee!

Juan absolutely 100% destroyed all credibility of this lady. If Nurmi was smart he would not re-direct, just cannot imagine at this point what he could ask at this time that would possibly "rehabilitate" the witness. Plus, I am pretty sure Nurmi and Jodi, the DT, knows that a lot of damage has been done, if they have at least 1 oz of a brain among them, they would leave well enough alone. IMO

Nurmi intends to talk about Martinez's challenging Fonseca's objectivity and ethics. #JodiArias

So, Juan is going for impeachment of this witness, imo, if I understand impeachment correctly. If he does (he will imo) impeach this witness does that mean the jury can choose to ignore all of her testimony??? Is this correct??

Impeachment is nothing special. It is the point of every cross-examination. It just means making the witness look like a liar or mistaken. The jury can choose to ignore any or all of any witness's testimony if they don't believe it.

Does this mean we get juror questions, or does Nurmi re-direct first?

Redirect would come before juror questions.

Because she is an expert, they can choose to ignore it all or accept it anyway, per Beth Karas last night. But if he impeached her, I dunno. AZlawyer, where are you?

They can choose to disbelieve an expert, a lay witness, an impeached witness, a witness who was never cross-examined at all...whatever.

... so, on redirect Nurmi can only talk about anything that Juan brought up- right? Nothing more- correct?

In theory, yes. In practice, sometimes there is a little leeway and then the other attorney gets a short re-cross on the new stuff.

Maybe Fonseca has another trial Monday so judge told JM to wrap it up and let KN redirect? Then questions? Guess we don't really have time for all of that. I cannot wait to see what the COA decided. AZlawyer, have you heard?

Nothing yet from the Ct App. It was on their afternoon conference calendar, though, and they're probably not even done talking about those cases yet.
