Unfortunately for the Alexanders, if CMJA gets the DP, their lives will be filled with appeals and motions. In our case, both killers received LWOP and in Pennsylvania, life means life. They were also sentenced on armed robbery, weapon violations to run consecutively, not concurrently. One died in jail from Stomach cancer and did not get the best of care (Ask me if I give two shites, I hope it was long and painful). The other is still serving.
It is not that we have forgotten as how do you forget it? The invisible scars and wounds are deep and invisible to the naked eye. It is what we, the survivors, do going forward to give our lost loved one a name, an unloved life. See, here I have spoken about my brother which I rarely do in day to day life. I have worked for years on Survivors rights. Every now and then a cause will catch my attention and I come out of the woodwork, ready to take on whatever it is.
It is also about taking back your power. One of the things that I love about Juan Martinez is that he makes me feel powerful, that I have a voice, that justice will reign, and the killer will get their just reward. Probably sounds silly, but then I belong to the club that no one EVER wants to join. Thanks for sharing about Lacey's parents. JMV
