I could absolutely see it being argued that everything being sealed in secrecy in the guise to protect her APPEAL. We are looking at these sidebars being veiled in the iron cloak longer than POTUS secrets. Yeah Sorry CMJA you just aren't that important. jmo

Not all mitigation witnesses are expert. A character witness could be a friend. Given what's happened in the past and the vitriol spewed on the web, I'd be frightened. (Of course, I'd also be frightened to be a witness for the prosecution, in case she ever got free....). I can totally understand a witness not wanting their identity outted in the media. For me the bigger issue is the total expulsion of the public from the trial. I have no problem with a character witness (e.g. a friend) being kept from the general public, but I feel very strongly we need to know what is being said, right away. Nurmi's explanation of 'the transcripts would be available' doesn't wash with me, because he keeps getting them sealed.

I hope JSS made the closed court ruling in a foxy move to shift the burden to the appellate court, which then prevents any appeal on that issue from here on out. But, I fear, she's just been worn down by Nurmi's incessant motions.

I found him unpersuasive in today's hearing: the media attorney cited case laws, and he just whined. It's especially unpersuasive if JA was in fact the witness.

Judge, I feel, should continue to keep the general public out, place the media in the overflow room and instruct them that they are not under any circumstances to release their names or film their faces. Have witnesses leave quietly out a side door. Problem solved. We'll never know who they are but we'll still know what they're saying.

Back a year ago on this forum, the subject came up "..what if your son or daughter committed a murder what would you do?" A lot of people posted very interesting things, but everyone said they absolutely would NOT do what the Arias family has done: laugh it up in court, attack the victim's family, and spread lies.

The defense can just use LE like the rest of us if they feel threatened by a valid threat. Let them work with the police to have charges filed.

They are no different than any of the rest of us and they should not get special privileges or illegal rulings.

Sharon Rocha & Ron Grantski have said in interviews they think about Lacy & Connor and do not put their energy on the killer. I believe them. I hope the Alexanders will someday be able to spend their energy on Travis, Travis' memory, Travis' good deeds and not have to worry about Travis' killer. I really hope it happens for them.

Unfortunately for the Alexanders, if CMJA gets the DP, their lives will be filled with appeals and motions. In our case, both killers received LWOP and in Pennsylvania, life means life. They were also sentenced on armed robbery, weapon violations to run consecutively, not concurrently. One died in jail from Stomach cancer and did not get the best of care (Ask me if I give two shites, I hope it was long and painful). The other is still serving.

It is not that we have forgotten as how do you forget it? The invisible scars and wounds are deep and invisible to the naked eye. It is what we, the survivors, do going forward to give our lost loved one a name, an unlived life. See, here I have spoken about my brother which I rarely do in day to day life. I have worked for years on Survivors rights. Every now and then a cause will catch my attention and I come out of the woodwork, ready to take on whatever it is.

It is also about taking back your power. One of the things that I love about Juan Martinez is that he makes me feel powerful, that I have a voice, that justice will reign, and the killer will get their just reward. Probably sounds silly, but then I belong to the club that no one EVER wants to join. Thanks for sharing about Lacey's parents. JMV

Finally all caught up after a day of work... I'm sickened at the video posted by her parents. I don't believe Jodi was the secret witness at all.. she has always loved attention from people and hiding away from it doesn't seem like her style. I bet it was a member of her family who she forced to lie for her. I get a sense that JSS is afraid of Arias... As she should be. She is a CONVICTED MURDERER OF A HEINOUS CRIME. I'd be afraid too.. however she should remove herself from this case because I truly believe now Jodi will be walking the streets in the future.. and when that happens I hope and pray that someone does to her as she did that poor poor man. She needs to rot in the hot fiery pits of Hell for what she did and continues to do to Travis and his family. She keeps rekilling him over and over and over again. I truly hope he haunts her for the rest of her miserable life.

Everything you need to know about who the REAL Jodi is can be seen on her cross with Juan. She showed her true colors during her exchange with him.

I see her true colors in the interrogation videos from a month after the murder (2008) as well. This was the raw, infantile version of her psychopathic self. By the time she reached the witness box in 2013 she had several years of incarceration and maturation under her belt which I think contributed to her to ability to spar with Martinez. I think the older she becomes , the more dangerous she's likely to become as well.

Very well said. While I've been lucky never to have a family or friend involved in a serious crime, much less murder, from all I have read, the healthiest and happiest survivors are those who find a way if not to forgive the killer, but to remove the killer for their lives.

Whether JA gets the DP, LWOP, or LWP, there's going to be at least one full-on appeal, paid by the state, from what I've read of Arizona law. After that, if she gets life, she has to foot the bill for her own appeals or find a lawyer to do it pro bono. If she gets the DP, all appeals are on the State's dime.

The length of time from conviction to execution in Arizona is minimum 20 years. I got this from an Arizona Dept of Corrections web site that told the story of all the recently executed prisoners (all men) - only one had been on death row less than 20 years, and he himself gave up all appeals and said "just kill me, get it over with". No way is JA going to do that. (And some of their crimes make hers sound like a kindergarten story).

What is the pixel size? I think the max is 96×96.
