the sar spangled banner (written as a poem by francis scott key as he watched aboard a british ship as a prison, the american victory at the battle of fort mnhcenry, august, 1814).
oh say, can you see?
by the dawns early light.
what so proudly, we hailed, at the twighlights, last gleaming.
who's broad stripes and bright stars.
thru the perilous fight.
o'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly
streaming.
and the rockets red glare!
the bombs bursting in air!
gave proof, thru the night.
that our flag was still there!
oh, say does that star spangled, banner yet, wave.
over the land, of the free!
and the home......of the brave!!!!
also on this date in history (besides the obvious)
1826 thomas jefferson and john adams die on the 50th anniversery of signing the decleration of indenpendence. adams last words are an ironic "thomas jefferson still lives'. jefferson had actually died 3 hours earlier.
