Possibly even Samantha may have recorded something… in her final moments… :(

JMO…
Yes … that would be very helpful for the Police if they can retrieve it …

Also I guess all those people that do record are making the Police work a little easier I guess …. Just like CCTV …

IMO

Maybe SLouTH, or some kind of digital evidence??

One day we'll find out !
I bet they have digital evidence (dashcam, gopro etc) plus an informer.
The informer provided the digital evidence which allowed the police to watch the crime and understand it as a deliberate attack.
The digital evidence may have uploaded to a site or device that the informer could view.

I wonder if Sam was deliberately chased and mowed down by the car and it was digitally captured by phone, watch, and dashcam etc
Captured the crime, the heart rate, the shared location, and maybe some audio.

I wonder if the body is hidden in the local area not far from town or his home. I think the likelihood of it being in water is very high.

I think the phone was tossed suddenly.
I wonder if it was forgotten and its disposal was a (panicked) hasty afterthought when it was sighted still sitting in the car. Maybe there was a passenger in the car by this stage and the phone was spotted still lying there in the back and needed to be thrown out straight away. Maybe it pinged when it was picked up and tossed.

If you are trying to make everything disappear why would you keep the license, credit card and phone of a murder victim together and rely on a smallish body of water to keep the secret? Because you didn’t have time to separate, destroy and scatter them well?

I don’t think he planned much or went far that day, hence him being easily found and it all now steadily unravelling.

Just my opinion.

A stitch in time saves nine  (as they say)…

I really hope so otherwise they have a battle ahead getting into the phone without wiping it IMO

I'm sure Police will cope.
Using IT experts and AI.
If not Police, then who???
It is the least of their problems IMO.

The most important task is to
FIND SAMANTHA!!!!
Bring her home.

Now way the perp was not noticed on sunny Sunday
No, no way!!!!
I wouldn't be so sure.

A lot of people said the same thing when Sam first went missing and there were no sightings of her running - they said she must not have left the house. It turned out she did indeed run for around an hour with nobody seeing her.

I honestly think mick would know the code… otherwise an experienced password hacker would crack it within an hour or so… based on birthdates, significant anniversaries, street numbers, lucky numbers etc… it’s not rocket science..

MOO…

The evidence to find Samantha could well be on her phone!

I don't agree that it's the least of their problems ( if the phone is in a recoverable state )

No one knows my passcode & it is not any of your suggestions, not even close.

I think many people, even married ones don't think there would ever be a need for anyone else to access their phones.
So I think it's quite normal to choose a password and keep it to yourself.

Don't you get locked out of your phone if you have too many wrong guesses.
But I imagine the LE tech people would have a way around the too many guesses, though i'm not sure.

Ahhh :)
Congratulations…
You are clearly ahead of the pack drsleuth…
A standout in terms of password and security diligence…
I believe that statistics indicate that most peoples passwords can be hacked by someone in the know within a few minutes…

Oh SLouTH, I'm surprised by that
We all have strengths and weaknesses… I guess… ;)

“It wouldn’t do for us all to be the same”…. to quote my loved and much missed grandma :p

She would have loved this site…

“Darling, there’s something fishy going on, I’m sure of it…”. She used to say…

Loved Miss Marple… Poirot etc…

I tend to agree.

What do you make out of LE hugging and high fiving at the dam?!

Are we missing something significant here? Or are they just happy to find the phone.
