I am glad to find the thread on this, I was going to bump it up if no one had gotten to it before me....it seems this may really be Alice, because the remains were found due to letters from one of the killers. I am betting, sadly, it's her, and I hate to say hoping, but I have been praying for her to be laid to rest and for her loved ones to have closure (well, second only to having Alice show up alive!)

I will keep checking for updates. I never forgot about her and have had her in my thoughts..

Death row inmate aids in search for his SC victim

By Jeffery Collins
Jan 30 2009

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Monica Caison figured it was worth a shot, so she fired off a letter, a single paragraph, to the man on death row for kidnapping and killing Alice Donovan during a two-week, 2,300-mile crime spree.
"You say you want to do the right thing," wrote Caison, the founder of a group that searches for missing people. "I'm here and I'm listening."…..”

I had the great pleasure of meeting Monica during the 2008 CUE “On the road to remember tour” When I met her she was dead tired; you could see it in her eyes, but you would never know it from the way she spoke.

We talked about the missing; I was wearing a Tee-shirt for Kara Kopetsky; missing May 4 2007, Belton, Missouri. Those we talked about including Amber Pennell, a 21 year old mother of two, who had just gone missing. Amber, who is from North Carolina, had vanished on the way home from work just a few days earlier and Monica told me she had been on the phone/internet to 2 o’clock in the morning getting the word out.

Before the tour was over Amber was found, and because everyone involved gave 110%; she was found alive.

A Picture of Monica and Beth Profeta. Beth’s mother Mary Badaracco has been missing from Sherman, Connecticut since Aug. 20 1984

Side Note: I took this photo while sitting next to a photographer from the CUE center.

At one point when Beth was speaking I had to put my camera down; my eyes were filled with tears. I looked over and saw that the lady from CUE had put her camera down as well. Despite the fact that this must have been the 8th or 9th stop on the 2008 trip; she was crying also.

If you are interested you can hit the next prompt and see more pictures from the healing service For Mary held at Lourdes Shrine; Litchfield, Connecticut

He replied with maps and directions-volunteers and LE found remains scattered over a large area and are awaiting DNA tests on the bones to confirm the ID.

Monica Caison, isn't she with CUE?

I am so glad she did decide to write him. So many times we figure that if they went through the trial and didn't tell that they never would tell. I think they should wait 5-10 years then ask again. The worst they can do is refuse.

Prayers that this works out for Alice Donovan's family.

Isn't that something! I'll give the man credit where credit is due. Now Alice's family can lay her to rest and the waiting to find her is over for them. I'm so glad.

Human Bones Found in Longs May be Donovan's

For the last six years, she has been known as Missing Person Cold Case Network File No. 2233F00, but now Alice Donovan might be coming home.
Horry County Police, along with Conway City Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations, may have missing evidence in the six-year-old abduction and murder of Galivants Ferry resident whose body was never found.
According to information released Jan. 27, HCPD responded to a wooded area off Watertower Road in the Longs section of the county where human bones were discovered.

Group to comb W. Va. woods for Fulks’, Basham’s first victim

Convicted Alice Donovan killers, Chadrick Fulks and Brandon Basham pleaded guilty to killing West Virginia college student, Samantha Burns, after the pair escaped from a Kentucky jail in November 2002. Burns’ body was never recovered but a search set for Monday has renewed hopes of finding Burns’ remains.

The map and letter to Caison would lead her to where Fulks and Brandon Basham dumped Donovan’s body after the pair kidnapped her from the Conway Wal-Mart in November 2002.
The pair were convicted and sentenced to die in 2004.

On Jan. 28, Horry County Police crime scene technicians sent the remains and DNA samples from Donovan’s daughters off to Columbia in hopes to identify the remains.
The test results are due back within a couple weeks.

Donovan daughter plans to witness Fulks, Basham execution

Convicted Alice Donovan killer, Chadrick Fulks, continues to send maps and letters to a Wilmington-based missing person search group showing where he and Brandon Basham left Donovan and Samantha Burns’ bodies after the women disappeared in 2002. Donovan’s daughters said they plan to watch the US government carry out execution orders on their mother’s killers.

"Alice Donovan's daughter Angie Gilchrist told WBTW-TV the first attempt to extract enough DNA from the bones found in January failed. Gilchrist says authorities told her they are now trying a different method."

"Fulks is also trying to lead searchers to the remains of missing Marshall University student Samantha Burns.

Crews have been searching an area in Wayne County for the remains the past two days."

Hello everyone! I'm new although I've read some of the threads on this forum from time to time. I am also a relative of Alice Donovan. I wanted to post an update just to let you know that the aforementioned DNA test with the expected date of March 5 proved inconclusive. They weren't able to acquire enough material. A second DNA test was mentioned in one of the above articles. It's that test that I want to update. Results are expected on March 18. That's tomorrow. We are all hoping, this time, for conclusive results. As a family, we are "sure in our hearts" that the remains are Alice's, but authorities are equally compelled to be certain. So, keep your fingers, toes, arms and all that you can (pray) that we receive confirmation so that we can proceed to the next step, a funeral and memorial. We are more than ready to put as much of this situation as we can, to rest, and say our final good-bye's to our loved one. One's life tends to be on hold until this final step is accomplished.

My heart goes out to those who've lost loved ones to murder/missing, and to those families who have loved ones which are unrecoverable in times of war.

Thanks for the great work you all do here!

More DNA testing needed on remains believed to be Alice Donovan

The human remains found in Horry County in January and believed to be those of a Galivants Ferry woman missing since 2002 will now be sent to Texas for further DNA testing, Horry County police Sgt. Robert Kegler said.

The bones will now be sent to the University of North Texas because it ``has had a higher success rate at DNA extraction of smaller bones,’’ Kegler said. It is expected to take about a month before results from those tests are available.

Are there any updates for this? I am up in Brunswick County and have been keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers.

There has been nothing on any possible results with DNA testing. I suppose it is taking longer than usual.

Has anyone heard anything else about the DNA testing? Being from SC, I know here there hasn't been anything in The State newspaper recently, but I was wondering if maybe I had missed something (working nights makes me miss a alot).

There still hasn't been any news of the results, if any. I live right up the road from 378 (where the remains were found). I figured the results would be out by now. I was under the impression that they try to process these types of cases in the fastest manner possible.

We just have to wait.

I live in Wilmington, NC and I have been following this case since Alice Donovan was kidnapped and my heart goes out to the family. I hope and pray that the results come back very soon and that Alice can be laid to rest...
