I am so happy to see this case gaining interest recently, and to have some family members posting here!
This case is so puzzling.
Does anyone know if the police suspected Steve (dad/husband) in 1987 and 1988 but lacked evidence... or was he cleared?
If Annette went with her mom, the dog probably went with them. Do we really see Korrina killing her daughter's dog? If they did kill it to silence it, would there really have been time to hide the carcass? And if they were just going to leave it, there wouldn't really be a reason to kill it in the first place until Annette got in the car and closed the door on it, in which case Mom and daughter would have been on their way anyway.
Same thing for any possible bad guys. Grab the girl and the dog makes more sense rather than grab the girl, kill the dog, hide the carcass, etc.
If bad people or Korrina grabbed the dog and killed it later to take care of the nuisance, than it's moot.
Do we know who Annette's biological father is? I am not liking the mother returning and taking her daughter story. There were two little boys still at home. If Korrina was still alive and well a year after her disappearance, and felt she was then in a position to reclaim her children, why only one? Why not stick around that day and get the other two? The husband/father was clearly not much of a parent, judging by Lost sons life story. I have taught a number of children with extreme trauma in their lives. The one thing they tend to have in common is a fiercely protective attitude toward their siblings. Only guessing, but I bet Annette loved those two little boys more than anything after her mother disappeared. I dont believe she would not be trying to find them if she could. I cant see the mother removing the big sister, the protector of her babies, and leaving those little boys with a destructive dad. I really hope this family finds out what happened.
Does anyone know if Korinne played pool?
Sorry I wasn't clear. I know we don't know for sure what happened to the dog. Judging by Lost Son's reply, I am assuming we won't ever know for sure.I feel as though I must have missed something that you read, so feel free to fill me in. I didn't see anywhere about the fate of the dog-- I don't think we know for a fact that the dog was missing as well. Unless I missed something, it may very well be that the dog simply returned home or continued to hang around the bus stop area. The possibilities of what happened to the dog when Annette disappeared would be as follows:
1. Dog was killed
2. Dog was taken also
3. Dog was left behind, and likely returned home or was found
I think it is most likely that the dog was left behind. If he was taken, then to me that would support the idea of Korrina being the one to take Annette. I don't see the point of anyone killing the dog-- whether it was Korrina or someone else who took Annette. Killing the dog to silence it is an idea... but it would be faster to just leave with Annette. Killing a noisy dog would waste precious time. Some dogs do act protective/aggressive, but this dog was probably used to Annette being picked up/"leaving" from the bus stop location almost daily. Even in the case of a forced abduction, not every dog is going to launch an attack.
It is likely, IMO, that Annette was taken so quickly that the dog's presence was irrelevant. The only reason I am curious to know more about the dog's fate is because if in fact the dog was taken it seems to point to Korrina. I do believe that it is just as likely Korrina would take her daughter and leave the dog.
All JMO.
Hi Lost Son, do you know if Korrina was ever reported missing in her own right? If we was ever reported missing it might be a valuable way of having her vital details and photo in one place.
Tommy, I found this woman some time back. Her name is Korrina and I believe she's the same age and is also from Iowa. Small world. It's a shame you where so young back then and can't tell if she looks like Annette's mom Korrina. I don't believe there's ever been pics posted of Korrina either.
It was a hunch with regard to the person on FB. But now I see Lost Son says the family has looked into it, and the woman is not Korinna. I'm so sorry.I can only guess at to whether she played pool or not but I would say "yes" knowing that her husband played pool avidely. Would like to know why the question was asked.
I have confirmed from Steve's brother and Korrina's brother that this is not her. Thanks for the post and look forward for more.
MONCKS CORNER—Twelve-year-old Annette Deanne Sagers and her dog left the caretaker's cabin at Mount Holly Plantation and walked to a wooden shelter along U.S. Highway 52 where she awaited a school bus.Post & Courier article
I am not sure if she has been officially classified as a missing person. I am working on getting an older picture up on the site so it can be more helpful. I have some younger pictures of her, but I am sure older ones would help.
Yes, she may have come back for her daughter. James and I are her biological sons. She loved just as equal as her own daughter. I have heard this from my aunt and uncles and have pictures to prove it.
As I stated before, Korrina is our mother. Annette is her daughter from a previous marriage. James and I were the children of Steve and Korrina. We have bitrh certificates to prove it and pictures of us kids with mother (all happy). There is a picture I have that also shows Annette playing with me when I was between 1 and 2.
I am a distant relative of Korrina and Annette's. I am part of her Iowa family. My grandmother helped raise Korrina for awhile after her father killed her mother. My grandmother was Korrina's mothers' first cousin. My grandmother died not knowing what happened to them. I would love to find out what happened to them. I am only a year older than Annette. I am no crime solver and would love all of your help in this. I would love to talk to her brothers any time. My mother is in contact with Korrina's brother Lee (Leon Sagers). I am sorry I have been off for a long time.
To Tommy, I do have a few pictures of your mother when she was young. I can't find any of her after the age of maybe 14 and that picture is blurry. Lee has stated that he gave all of his to the police department of her and they won't give them back until the case is closed.
Thank you
Heather.
so i am confused - there is or is not a MP report for Korrina? It would be really helpful to at the very least have her basic description, height/weight/eye color... that info must be in the original police report from November 1987 right? even without a MP report, they did a whole search of the property looking for her. there must have been a description circulating to know what to look for, right??
