I feel like all this noise would make it harder for her to come home. If she can.

Certainly whoever was posting the videos and the small group that kept posting them everywhere were not helpful. I know from posts by the family they had been trying to get them to stop. Plus, there are a number of "psychics" and "astrologists" and "tarot" readers posting on Ashley's page so it is not at all helpful.

I have been following this from the beginning and IMO it's all sketch. Her family is oddly secretive, it took forever for this to show up anywhere but FB, the people supposedly forming search parties aren't showing up or making excuses for postponing them. I have followed a ton of cases and this just doesn't follow any normal patterns.
Her family certainly knows more about what was going on than they let on. I suspect a handful of friends do as well. All of this is odd.

I'm shocked by the way the police officer is carrying himself in the Facebook video. He is not a professional in any way. What a joke. He's a mess. He admonished her for cursing, then does so himself. He admonished her for being a STAY AT HOME MOTHER! What a terrible situation. I hope he was punished.

The only media article on this case of Ashley missing is the ABC affiliate in the area. While it shows in a Google News search (search Ashley Rabon) if you try to access the link you get an "Oops Page" i.e. the story is no longer there. That media report was April 3rd. So, at some point since the media report came out the story was pulled. There is no indication that she had been located by LE or media. Her mother hasn't indicated she was located either though it seems her mother stopped posting about Ashley missing on April 4th. This could be because every time her mom posted or made a comment on a post about her daughter missing a small group of individuals would post the same links to the same videos and such and pretty much say the same things (maybe copy and paste) and it was always the same names doing the posting.

Absent LE saying anything I am inclined to think that all of the videos posted and other posts are to try to set up her husband - well likely soon to be ex-husband as they were already separated. She admits on at least one video having cheated and in one of her FB posts admits to cheating. Under South Carolina law if her husband files a divorce in South Carolina with infidelity as the cause the adulterer receives no alimony whatsoever. If he was going for full custody (unlikely to get it) but aiming for 50/50 custody then he also would likely not have to give her much child support either as she would be responsible for her share.

To receive alimony you have to be married 10 plus years in SC. As for child support if they have joint custody, one parent still has to pay the parent that has primary placement. Even if she's not working they will base her income as minimum wage. Which equals to $1257 a month. I worked as a legal secretary for 7 different lawyers for 3 years in SC. DSS will definitely get involved in this case. I believe based on experience, the children will be placed with a family member until both parents complete parenting classes, anger management and can pass a drug test.

That was one thing positive that could come out of this. The LEO would loose his job. Or get sensitivity training! Sorry...really, really bad humor!

I’ve been following this from the beginning as well and I just can’t decide what I think has happened. Often I feel like I can get at least some sense from a case but this one has me puzzled and undecided. It’s certainly been a mess on SM that’s for sure. Glad to see some actual coverage of her story...a little surprised that her husband called her out for cheating on such a public platform but to each their own. Just might make it harder for her to come back...if she can.

Right there with you! Don’t think I’ve ever seen a missing persons case played mainly out on SM!

Not to discuss the Facebook comments but there appears to be a Facebook account with initials SD causing confusion among people on the Find Ashley Nicole Rabon group.

Mention in main post and further commentary in the comments (click through here)

Also the "Where's Ashley Nicole Rabon" group seems to have been deleted after drama... this case is a rabbithole!

Mods, please delete if this breaks the rules.

.

That group went secret and changed their name after a call by family friends to delete it. It's still around but they removed a lot of members.

Thanks for the info!

Do you know whether that secret group mainly involves friends/family or whether it’s outsiders?

The fact that this anonymous/off and on FB account “SD” was giving tip offs to people before they were more extensively known is just another strange SM angle...

Of course it could be someone playing a sick joke!

My husband thinks it's all fake. I am starting to wonder if maybe he is on to something. Her best friend was full speed ahead until she got there and now has completely done a 180. The family is seemingly mad that the media picked up this story. They are also complaining that no one is helping but then people are showing up to help and they are nowhere to be found. Or they just say "look in the woods" over Facebook. I have followed a lot of cases including ones with known drug users and such that disappear on benders and other types of they may have gone voluntarily situations and when families want someone to be found, they don't act like this. MOO.

It is strange considering that in the NBC story Ashley's sister is quoted talking about the texts that were sent to the sister, Ashley's mother, Ashley's best friend, and husband yet for a day or more the family member(s) running the Find page were acting as if there had been no contact. Most of the information about what was going prior comes from Ashley's own public posts going back months, let alone the videos that were dumped days after she went missing. So it wasn't as if the information wasn't already out there. They give every impression of knowing more about what Ashley had been up to prior to being missing and it would not surprise me if they knew before she went missing let alone before the NBC story came out who the guy was she had been involved with. And on that topic I can't imagine why that guy was as talkative to the media given what the subject was. I am quite befuddled by all of this.

I wish LE would have had to some information to share in the NBC story. Perhaps they will have something to say if more media outlets get involved. I am sure that LE has to be concerned with the number of people inserting themselves into this case.

I just cannot understand publicly asking for help but also being so secretive. It just doesn't compute in my head as being on the up and up at all. i also cannot imagine my sister/kid/best friend being missing and caring more about people being "mean to me" or asking too many questions or not being flattering enough to her in reports than actually finding her using any means necessary.

Sorry this is all just really bugging me.
