I like that word "could." May it stand. After 21.25 years she could be eligible for parole.

Was she taken back into custody?

I think it’s 85% of 25 years with a crime like this.
While I think her statement in court was truly remorseful, she should have left out all of her future plans and dreams.
Even though up until that point in time she had not shown one wit of remorse, or empathy towards anyone but herself, she may have been somewhat moved after listening to the heart-rendering statements of the family members. That said, I think those tears flowed because the reality of what was about to go down had finally hit her like a sidecar. She was terrified. After the verdict was read, she looked dazed - perhaps having thought that her tears would somehow make a Hail Mary difference. They didn't. And this was where her Daddy met his Waterloo - he couldn't do a thing about it.I think it’s 85% of 25 years with a crime like this.

Miss Komoroski and her family are and will be reaping what they sowed.JK has ruined the lives of 3 families with likely a split-second decision to drive while extremely intoxicated.
Where were her friends when she needed someone to take her keys away ? Why didn't the bar call her an Uber/Lyft ? The scary part is how many times did she drive this drunk on previous occasions.
Sam Miller is gone, Aric Hutchinson is in chronic pain & her own family is likely struggling with legal bills, future civil lawsuits, and figuring out how to see her in prison in South Carolina for the next 25 years. And JK herself is now saddled with multiple felony convictions, lifetime ban of her driver's license, no chance of a family of her own, and spending almost as much time in prison as she has been alive.
All for a couple more shots of tequila ... really ????

Her dumb decisions cost a 34-year-old woman her life, and her new husband his long term health. I know you’re not defending her, but I find it much easier to see this woman behind bars knowing her actions caused long term effects for a number of families who did nothing wrong themselves. She was the only one in the wrong on that night, and it wasn’t the first time she had shown a lack of adherence to road rules. Her selfishness has caused the situation she now finds herself in.I'm not defending her actions but just observing her comments. I do hate to see anybody that young and with a future blow it with dumb choices.
There’s a post on the previous page of this thread that says going to trial with the possibility of facing ‘3-85 years’ behind bars. The link from that post goes to a now-updated page with the result of her guilty plea and sentencing, so I’m not sure if it was accurate, but perhaps an indicator. She looked surprised at her sentence, I wonder what she was expecting. What was the minimum she could have gotten?
Was this a plea deal or a sentencing? Can she appeal?

My understanding, as faulty as it may be, is that when someone enters a blind plea, they basically give up their right to appeal, except in the case of gross negligence on the part of counsel or the judge. I of course stand ready to be corrected. She pled with no deal as I understand it as a “blind plea”. I’m not sure on an appeal.

Maybe she truly wanted to take responsibility. So her lawyers told her to take the blind plea as opposed to a jury or bench trial - likely means no plea deal was offered by the prosecution. Not sure why she went this route because as you stated, she gives up the right to appeal. IMO, her lawyers told her she'd probably get no more than 15 years and they were about 10 years short.
At least the Millers and Hutchinsons didn't have to sit through a trial with crash and autopsy photos.
