I am a little concerned because of this comment I posted earlier:

The link is to a story posted a while ago. I found this comment interesting:

Why would someone say something so specific? I don't think I've heard anything about a search in this area.

that link isn't working anymore.

Detectives with the Horry County Police Department spent Wednesday investigating some bones found in Conway.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Williard said the bones were found in a wooded area in Conway on Oak Street between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

The bones have been sent to an expert to determine if they are human. Until the bones have been identified as human the investigation is at a stand still, said Williard.

Bones found in wooded area in Conway
Not clear whether they are human remains

Authorities are investigating bones that were found Tuesday in Conway.

The bones were found Tuesday evening in a wooded area on Oak Street in Conway, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Horry County authorities were notified between 9 and 10 p.m., Willard said.

It is not clear at this time whether the bones are human remains or who found them.

I researched the area and it seems there is a cemetary on this road, if you read the first article that you posted on this discovery you will see (old cochran school) here is what I found;

Cochran Town Cemetery
aka McCracken Cemetery aka Greenhole CemeteryLocated north of Horry County Department of Social Services [formerly Cochran School] on Cultra Road.

I don't know when this info was posted about the location of this cemetary, but the DSS is not on Cultra Rd.

My husband had a co worker killed on Oak st. last year, he was walking from a bar and was hit and killed. I am not sure of the exact location but I am going this way tomorrow, maybe I'll take a look.

There is another missing person's case that I have kept my eyes on and that is of Kareem Ward. He went missing in 2007 and from what I have heard it was related to another crime committed in Dec. 2006. I have wondered when his body might turn up.

Anyway, I guess we wait to see if they are human or animal.

Sawbuck

If this statement is true Carolina Coastal University is that where the college party might have been where PB and friends went. I looked at these 2 locations on map ccu and Oak St where bones found only 7 miles between the 2 locations give or take.

I am not sure of the enforcement of the policy , but CCU has a zero tolerance for alcohol or drugs, I wouldn't think the party would be on Campus grounds.

I traveled Cultra Rd. to my job before I transferred and used oak street as a short cut to miss some traffic.

We had an incident at my store one day, there is a pond of a sorts beside the building and someone happened upon some bones. They called the police and when they got there they determined it to be that of a beaver.

Thanks for finding the article, Rochestergirl. :)

Yesterday I went back to the beginning of this thread (#6) and began reading. Something else came to my mind while doing this. Keep in mind, I do not know Brittanee or her friends. It seems possible that the thing about the one girl wanting her shorts back could have been a set up code for Brittanee to possibly meet someone. Perhaps it could have been set up with the girls previously for her to meet someone and the reason they got alarmed and contacted the boyfriend to say she was missing so quickly was that she told them if she did not come back right away, it means something has gone wrong. I know we have been through this scenario so many other times with her walking out of the BWR and talked about the girl wanting those shorts back. And yes I know we have discussed just what prompted the girls to send up a red flag so quickly that Brittanee was missing. I am just thinking it would be possible for her to be meeting some person or persons for a purpose the girls were in on and they knew it was a dangerous situation. That could possibly explain even why they moved to another hotel so quickly. They may have been afraid of the person/persons Brittanee was meeting up with that night. I just want those girls to speak out and tell at least whatever they do know. They might hold the missing piece of the puzzle without even knowing it.

I think you may be on to something there... It could also be that Brittanee and her friends had a pre-arranged code word for Brittanee to to text to them so that if she felt like she needed an excuse to leave PB's room, all she would have to do is send the pre arranged text (like "911" or " go" or "ready" for example) w/o PB seeing (which really isnt that hard) and the friends would send her back a text 'demanding' her to return to the hotel and the shorts... I have had this very same arrangement with a few of my friends when one of us went out on a date and wanted to have a way out for some reason or another... Worked quite well too... that too could also explain why her friends left the hotel... She didnt return like planned, they were afraid something had happened and moved to hide... By that time, Brittanee's BF had alerted her mom she wasnt answering, and then she called JH to head there and look for her.... Just brainstorming off of a really good idea from SF.

Ten arrested for underage drinking near CCU, HGTC

Though classes haven’t resumed yet, there’s already been a major underage drinking bust near Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College.

The Conway Police Department says officers converged on a large party involving 100 people in the early hours Wednesday morning at University Suites off Technology Blvd.

Conway police say ten minors were arrested for being in possession of alcohol.

One of the ten arrested, Kerri Rose Wyskida, was also charged with drug possession.

According to reports from the Conway Police Department, police found 14 ecstasy pills and a clear bag of cocaine in Wyskida’s purse.

“With college students we understand that there are going to be parties at different times. However, you still can’t be underage and drinking and you can’t go above and beyond where it’s disorderly, disruptive, and sometimes that can be a danger to the community or a danger to that person,” said Conway Police Sgt. Selena Mann.

The arrests were on the same day Coastal announced a new program, Smart Choice, to curb drinking and encourage responsible decisions by students.

According to a press release from CCU, Smart Choice is one element of a comprehensive approach designed to create a culture of accountability and responsibility to prepare students for success during their college years and after graduation.

Despite the arrests, Coastal Executive Vice President Dr. Eddie Dyer doesn’t see the incident as a setback to CCU’s Smart Choice program.

“If the reports are true, once we get the formal reports and review them those students will be run through the on-campus student judicial process. and if they did things that we don’t want them doing, they’ll be sanctioned,” Dr, Dyer said.

Dyer says Wyskida faces expulsion if the drug allegations are true.

I cannot help but wonder if the worst scenario has occurred, will LE then be able to legally bring all involved with Brittanee in MB back to MB to be more formally questioned. Also, I keep wondering if they would even go that route, as they have seemed to give the impression pretty early on that they do not need to talk to those people anymore. Of course I am just speculating with all of this. Don't you think that if for one minute, anyone even hinted they thought you may know something, you would be out there trying your best to at least clear yourself by telling every bit of the truth as you know it. Where are the parents of these "friends" anyway. Why wouldn't they be urging them to cooperate. Any parent, at least the ones I know, love their own children so much, they would see poor Dawn going through this terrible heartache and nightmare and would urge their own child to help her, or at the very least talk to her instead of cutting her off completely. It seems to me this group defines the term "mean girls" by the way they are reacting to all of this. I would like to reach out to them and ask them to have a heart and do some soul searching. Speak up. Help change the course of this. Be a hero. It could have been any one of you in Brittanee's place. All my own opinion. I ask these girls to step up and change my opinion.

Yes they can and they will. You must remember American law is set up by default to protect the defendant. If someone ever decides to speak I can assure you they will be brought back.

Here is another from thesunnewsl.com

An anthropologist told police Wednesday that ones found in a wooded area of Conway the day before are human, according to Sgt. Robert Kegler of Horry County police.

The bones were found Tuesday evening in a wooded area behind the Veterans Affairs and Horry County Parks and Recreation Building on Oak Street Extension, Kegler said.

The remains were sent to the Medical University of South Carolina for further testing, Kegler said. It is not known what the race, sex or approximate age of the remains are, he said.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said authorities were notified between 9 and 10 p.m. Tuesday.

A hunter found the bones, Kegler said.

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Which is closer to Myrtle Beach and the Blue Water? Also, does this one make more sense with behind the Rec dept. etc...

It is about a 45 min. ride from this location to MB depending on traffic. As far as making more sense for the location, I would have to say that familarity of the location is key, if in fact this is a crime and not someone who died of natural causes.

If not Brittanee, then who could it be? Has she been missing long enough to be fully skeletonized? (somehow, making that statement makes my heart drop into my feet)

One of the articles says something about being near a "Veterans Affairs"....Is that a VA Hospital? If so, the one here near us in Virginia had an incident where remains were found that were that of patient many years ago. Yes all we can do now is wait for the final word. You all are sure good researchers.
